Just want to thanks about that. I've bought Affinity Designer, then Affinity Photo. I 'll probably buy Affinity Publisher then. This idea is for me a kind of customer respect, with a good product. Some of my friends use a not so legal version of Illustrator, none of them makes illegal copies of Affinity Products.

    Thanks for this, really.

OK, so there is some possibilities like:
Merging all purchuised software into one (like a hub) Making easier switch to "Edit originals" Fully featured editors inside Publisher like: Raster and Vector Editors More awesome solution, we don't even imagine... I hope, in AP there will be functions like:
Fast and robust preflight (this is must have) View Modes (from fast previews up to print previews) Ability to work on hundreds pages without problems (well optimized) Spell checking (in many languages) Many master pages Tool like data merge (or it's better brother :)) Styles for: Objects, paragraphs, characters and so on Easy end fast media containers to use Advanced font and acharacter proporties Saving and exporting in background Clean grouping solution Easy link manager   And also I am affraid of:
If it would be as powerfull as we love to be, have many great features AND would be integrated with other software (damn You @MattP) AP would be  much expensive than rest of Affinity software family, or it would be insubscription plan. If not, holly molly, there will be no brainer to switch for Affinity in whole.

My assumption was that they're just sensible "jump to" or "edit original" conveniences. For example, select an imported vector graphic on the page. click the Designer icon. The graphic opens in Designer. Edit it, save it, jump back to Publisher and the graphic updates accordingly.
And I'd actually be fine with that. But, of course, if you guys have something significantly more powerful / elegant / innovative than that, I'm not against being delighted. Unlike most, I can appreciate many things I can get for "free".

Did anyone else notice in that preview video, when they were moving an image block around the document, just how quickly, cleanly and smoothly the text flowed around it real time as it was moved? With this being in only alpha mode, I would say that is already an amazing feat! However, I will say that I am NOT surprised by this at all. The reason is that I have seen just how much attention the Affinity team pays to every little aspect of the UI and how it provides such intuitive feedback to the user. We have been spoiled in their impeccable design and performance of AD an AP for the Mac, and we have no reason to expect anything different in Publisher. I will even bet that the initial public release of Publisher will be way better than the initial releases of Photo and Designer, since they will use all of the lessons learned from those applications to guide and inform their design and engineering choices. The fact they keep pushing out the expected release date tells me that they truly are exercising an extreme level of discipline by not giving in to the pressures to release it before it's truly ready.

And do you wanna know what the real irony is? If it were Adobe developing this software, the current alpha state, as we all saw it in operation, will already be good enough for them, and it would already be in general release. So kudos to the Affinity team for doing the right thing with all of their products! I am willing to wait patiently until they make it truly worthy of bearing the Affinity name, for I already know that the wait will have been worth it. Like I have shared here before, anything of exceptional quality always takes expert skill, patience, hard work, long hours and many years to produce. It is so refreshing to finally see companies like Serif that are dedicated to producing truly exceptional tools that not only work well, but they are pure joy to use!

You have no idea for how long I wanted these sorts of snapping features.
The only app ever offering extensive snapping so far was ViaCAD with the downside that almost everything was line vector based.

1.7 is going to be one awesome release.

Fatih19 got a reaction from Mithferion in buy it or not buy it, is the question
Here is the thing : Illustrator existed for about 31 years while AD is 4 years. When a software that is more than 7 times younger can replace most of the older software feature, you (not specifically you, but people that says this software is not an Illustrator competitor) just need more time.

Yeah, those Adobe elitist sucks! Adobe is the industry standard because they showed up first, not necessarily because their software is perfect.

This is a very cool innovation! I still want Serif to have tools that other apps have though cough knife cough warp /distort cough.

A feature where you can make the stroke between two nodes invisible without changing the shape. So, you select two nodes and choose "make stroke invisible" and the stroke between those two nodes and not the whole path will be invisible.

I think the snap tool need a better ways of communicating to what it snap to and better UI. Because, right now, it looked like a mess. I think about a separate windows for the snapping settings so you don't need to click to the snapping settings icon on the top every time. I change my snapping settings oftenly and it's not comfortable to always need to go to the top of the interface and look at the block of text everytime. If there is already existed a way to make it a separate window please let me know.

There is no need to do that. You can install Affinity Designer on several computers (if you own and use them).
