I believe they will. It will just takes a long time.

On the topic of integration, they should integrate with Blackmagic Design (DaVinci Resolve and Fusion). For animation, they should integrate with TechMicro (Moho/Anime Studio)

    Thanks a lot @Fatih19
Even better then what i though about.
According to your understanding dear, will Serif make Publisher to be even better and flexible than PagePlus X9 was ?

I believe all this is good but for the time until Serif put things on the rails, we users should find a way to prepare for the rain.
I mean, there is a good one out there called  Spine.
With that one you can import Affinity designer projects and animate them.
I was impressed how easy it is to export things in JSON and animate the whole thing.

Give it a try and maybe it will help until Serif delivers something in that area.

No, Serif should make agreement with other developer to integrate.

Yeah, some people like it some people don't. I don't like it, is there a way to turn it off? If there is not, then it's a feature request.

Agreed, it's quite annoying and it disrupts my workflow.

    Thanks for your suggestion.

My initial reaction is that this is far too complicated to make it a "go to" feature.  Firstly, having different swappable selections is not something we want to do.  Our selection tracking logic is fairly integral to a lot of how the app functions.  Changing this is no small task.
Anything we do needs to be dependant on the current selection.  Anything else gets complicated as we'd have to track document changes with additional selections.

The snapping features we a talking about are just centred in the Node tool.  To this end, we'd not want to create a special dockable panel to reflect complex options.  It would be redundant for every other tool.  Also, the set of snapping features I've shown are (currently) controlled by two simple buttons on the Tool context bar.  I wouldn't want to provide any finer grain control than that.  It's basically on or off.  To add specific control over which construction angles you want is way too much 'control'.

The one thing I'd take from your suggestion is controlling the number of nodes either side of the edited node that you'd want to take into account when searching for snaps.  At the moment it just tracks the immediate adjacent nodes, but (with a bit of work) it could track a little further.  I'd have to experiment to see what I can do.  Any required UI would have to fit on the Node tool context toolbar, so will have to be simple (maybe just a drop down of limited options).

Affinity Publisher probably can't open InDesign files in the first beta version. But, knowing that Affinity Software can open and export to ai and psd,i think it will able to at some point.

Here's an example. When making a donut chart composed of two colored sections, you may:

    1) Create two identical donuts, one of each color.
    2) Adjust donut #1's angle to something other than a multiple of 90°.
    3) Adjust donut #2 so its start angle is the same as the end angle of donut #1. This is currently only possible by typing the same values.
    4) Adjust one hole radius to something other than a multiple of 25%.
    5) Adjust donut #2's radius to match #1's. Currently you have to type the same value.

Snapping the control points just like nodes do would be tremendously helpful in steps 3 and 5 (specially considering this can already be done with the node tool itself).

+1. Also, if you think about it, the devs "only" need to make algorithm that can detect the xy position of one reference anchor points and then copying it to another anchor points in the background. And an algorithm that can do basic maths. I don't know how difficult that is though since I can't code.

Anyway, this is getting damn good, super excited for these new features... all the great snapping and node tool improvements. Yes nodes alignment please Ben!!  really miss that.

... and here I was thinking things had quieted down over the last few months... doh!  Keep up the great work, more vids!!

Although this seems cool, I would say this won't show up in the 1.x version because currently it doesn't exist in the roadmap. Sorry for saying that!

Here at the feature request forum it may slip through the attention of a Serif representative.

A percentage slider would be one way to do it, the logical midpoint would be another. I reckon logical would be best as a default as it keeps the curve shape unaltered.

I wonder whether it'd be even possible to "ride a point" on the curve and once you let go, that's where it gets placed. Back in the Illustrator days I used a path to cut where I wanted a node, then joined the points again because adding points always messed with the shape.

Maybe even expand that idea to a panel with multiple tools?
Auto-Add Node to place one at the logical midpoint. Adjust Position for the sliders Free Position for the riders of the lost node Relocate Node to move a node on the path and recalculate the control points to match it again. …and so on.

For example FontLab Studio has this thing where you can take away nodes and it keeps the curve shape intact until you take away too many. I think Glyphs has it too, but I haven't tried all of it's features during my trial period.

Fusion is not a video editor, it'. a compositor and motion graphic software. DaVinci Resolve is a video editor. Yes, fusion works differently from Ae but it has a full free version. No watermark, commercial use allowed. The studio version is only 300$

My joking aside, you know how Publisher has been pushed back far from it's original estimation date. Well even though I know nothing about those persona icons or whatever, I have a strange feeling those might be why. Whatever they do, we were told that no other program does it. Spending five years to accomplish whatever this major task is goes to show how hard working Serif is. So I don't care about the delays. Seeing this incredible work and then hearing that the price is the same and there is still no subscription, Serif deserves so much credit. Best software developing company out there.

As for any naysayers about Affinity and their products: Go ahead. Keep on raining, Affinity will STILL be the parade.
Cue Metallica's "For Whom The Bell Tolls" when Publisher Beta is released.
