When i want to swap object position, i need to open notepad, copy the x y coordinate, twice. It would be elpful if i can just select 2 object, RMB, and there is a button that let me swap them easily.

At least Serif needs to give plug-ins for that. I'm an Illustrator and Animator.

No, Serif should make agreement with other developer to integrate.

Illustrator doesn't have this so if you implement this you can dab on them. Is that a valid argument?

Great stuff as always Ben! Expanding into this, can you disable node handle manipulation when multiple nodes are selected? Like, pressing some combination of keys will disable them. Because, the annoying part of designer is when you're zoomed out and trying to move several nodes at once, instead of doing that, you manipulate the node handle.

Yeah, I myself kind of confused why they don't implement this earlier. It might be that they are figuring out codes that works fast at doing that or adding their own implementation (special functionality). Adobe Illustrator also has some basic stuff that only recently added such as control over the size of anchor point.

Yes. I've coded up alignment for the Node tool. So, you can use the Alignment panel to align the selected nodes in the Node tool, as you would align layers/objects in the Move tool.

I've also prototyped some widgets for doing snapping alignment, as an embellishment to the selection box.

If they put a node edit persona or color persona for node tool and fill tool then yes, its bad. But autotracing is a big tool, with potentially a lot of tuning. It will be a persona for sure.

I've watch a bunch of Adobe alternatives on YouTube and read the comment section. There is many people who use software from Affinity and Blackmagic Design.
    Affinity Photo - Photoshop
    Affinity Designer - Illustrator
    DaVinci Resolve - Premiere
    Fusion - After Effects

After seeing that, I thought "wouldn't
it be great if they collaborate and make some special integration?" And so, here I am, requesting it in Affinity Forum. With this kind of integration, more people will flock to your software and Bmd software. Beneficial to both companies.

Regarding the Pixel crop tool (for resizing and cropping the document, not the vector Crop tool) - I've already rewritten this for 1.7, so if your issues are with this tool, wait for 1.7.

And, for anyone who wanted Lasso node selection...

To use it, in the Node tool with a curve layer selected, you just hold Alt and either click to start polygon mode or drag to start free hand mode.

Fatih19 reacted to bone2k in Feature request- snap anchor handles to grid option
I find it a very surprising that it is not obvious to the Affinity Design team how useful snapping of handles to the grid really is.

I have used Adobe Illustrator for almost 10 years now for creating scientific illustrations and for almost every one of them I relied on precise snapping of the handles to a grid. For any kind of symmetric shape where the curve on one side should look exactly like the curve on the other side this feature is very helpful. In Affinity Designer I always have to draw one side and then duplicate and mirror it to achieve the same effect. Certain kind of regular curves I just don't know how to create precisly in AD.

The attached image is an exercise for the pen tool I use in graphic design workshops for PhD students. Recreating the shapes precisely in Illustrator is very easy thanks to snapping of handles. In AD I have to eyeball it and am not able to exactly draw the same shapes. Or is there a way to do it with the snapping settings?

Fatih19 reacted to Friksel in Remove doubleclick to undock/dock from tools panel
Working 8 hours a day on Designer for making illustrations last weeks, I noticed a thing I run into a lot of times which is disturbing the workflow a bit and seems easy to fix.
I've setup Designer and Photo to have a 2-column toolspanel (look at attachment). That way I'm having the fill- and border-color-circles visible inside the toolbar at all times to quickly change colors, like I was used to in Adobe software. So I click on a fill- or border-circle to bring it to the actual color selection or doubleclick on it to change its color. Very handy and used a lot.

But if I work fast making illustrations in Designer all day long, a lot of times it happens that I accidentely doubleclick just outside these small color-circle-rings.
Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but in Designer and Photo doubleclicking just outside these circles (or a tool) is causing the toolspanel to undock/float or dock again everytime this happens, 'cause the doubleclick-handler is set to the full toolspanel. So I have to re-dock the panel a lot of times during the day which is distracting and gets really annoying after a while. I think the solution wouldn't be that hard to implement and would make Desiger and Photo an even better product:

    solution 1
Add an option to lock the docking of the toolspanel. When this setting is set to locked the panel cannot be undocked. I'd say the the 'Customize Tools'-panel would be a nice place for this setting.

    solution 2
No doubleclick at all. Adding the same way of undocking to the toolspanel like being used inside other panels: drag and drop the toolspanels titlebar outside of its dockregion.

    solution 3 (my choice)
Adding a 'Tools'-titlebar to the toolspanel (like it is visible already when undocked) and move the doubleclick-handler of the full toolspanel to this titlebar instead. That way the intended behaviour remains but now the toolspanel only toggles docking/undocking when a user doubleclicks on the titlebar. And that only happens when a user really wants it. In my opinion that would be an intuitive place to doubleclick.

    Thanks!

In my humble opinion, the pressure control in AD is too simplistic. I suggest the developer to implement something like this. If you worry about cluttered UI, you can hide it behind an "advanced" button. Or set it like grid and guide manager.
In the right, there should be a list of mathematical function (like the brush pressure editing) and save profile. This is just a suggestion, the developer of course know better and i believe they could expand on this better.

    Vega,

When you have calmed down..... It seems that this setting was overlooked when we last upgraded the forums, and had gone back to the forum default of username only. I have just checked the Admin UI and was pleased to find that "username OR email" is an option (it has annoyed me too, though far less than you clearly).

Please retry, and keep the personal insults to a minimum or you may find the forum regulars less interested in assisting you. We "fools" who work here have less choice in the matter, but still have some.
