I don't think I am splitting hairs here but you have omitted the intermediate stage between author and printer in your scenario.

But if you BUY a book from a bookshop and the last page is missing?

Or indeed a whole chapter!

Surely the publishers of (in the case the soiftware) should be able to say how the software is sold.

 

Yes, it could hav been a Windows update that made it unavailable again.

Crude but effective - find the app, copy the folder contents somewhere else and use the copy!

 

If so could you please elaborate as i am not an IT specialist.

Yes, I went through that same procedure some time ago to get access to Affinity via Lightroom. However that no longer works. Maybe I should go through all that palaver again!

It appears that lightroom went though some kind of "reset" recently which may have been the cause of my problem.

 

I had an email exchange with a member of Serif staff about it and the answer was basically - sorry we can't help. I don't think that's very satisfactory, to be honest.

 

As I also said in the post, I am also having problems opening Affinity directly as one normally would - ie I can't open it at all!

I downloaded Affinity Photo from the Microsoft store at the end of 2017. I haven't used it yet!

At first I had a problem opening it from within Lightroom, because it was buried deep down inside Windows and LR couldn't find it. I managed to solve that one. 

Now it has disappeared from the "open in" drop-down menu in Lightroom, AND I can't open it any other way.

There are two  buttons for it in my start menu called 

(a) SerifEuropeLtd AffinityPhoto (followed by a series of numbers and letters)  If I click on this I get a drop-down menu with the following folders

AppXmetadata

Program

Resources

and various small files.

So I click on Program and get

A list of "language" folders

A list of mainly .dll files

However there is also one called 

Photo.exe

which looks promising. However it is only 8.99 mb and if i click on it I get nothing.

(b) The other button is called "Program" and is a short-cut to step 2 of the above.

 

I find this all incredibly frustrating and I just wish I'd bought it direct from Serif, not the MS store.

 

Can anyone help?
