    Hi Tncbbthositg,

    Welcome to the forums

Affinity Photo doesn't have as many artistic filters as PhotoShop however we do have the Halftone filter found by going to Filters > Colours > Halftone. This can be used to produce a comicbooky (is that a word) effect

Even if the technology were there, this would still be a huge commitment, possibly years of work. People ask for Android like its just flicking a switch on the compiler.

I've been using Photoshop since the CS days. After years of conditioning, switching to Affinity has been a real problem. It's one thing to learn something new, it's another to un-learn then re-learn the same basic process.  Mostly the Affinity approach improves the process, but for old codgers with several years of PS under our belts it's a steep learning curve to do the same old thing in a new way (consider how hard it for a British driver for the first time to shift to left hand drive, and vice versa; it's all the same, it's still a steering wheel and gear shift and pedals but it's all different).
So my question, has anybody seen an Affinity/Photoshop cross reference guide? If not I'd be happy to collaborate with somebody with solid Affinity experience then put it up on the Forum for input to fill in the blanks.

Yesiam1996 reacted to dmstraker in Announcing ... InAffinity YouTube Channel!
I've recently started making tutorial videos for Affinity Photo, putting them up on YouTube. The channel is 'InAffinity'. There's already nine videos there.
The focus is mostly on short, specific 'how to's, including 'How to do X in N different ways'. Mostly because that's what I like. I'm an old engineer, photographer and educator, and have a tendency to seek detail and then share it. Once I get going, I'm usually pretty persistent. My 'other site' is ChangingMinds.org, which I've been writing for over 15 years.
For the technically curious, I'm using Camtasia as a recording/editing system, capturing at 1920 HD.

Suggestion: I'd love to see a "favorites" slot for filters. The user could mark filters and they would show up together creating filter groups that are easier to find than scrolling through the entire list. (Perhaps even several Favorites slots.) Thanks for listening.

    Thanks for the reply Callum,
I know of a few people who like me are using it as an editing starting point. A workbook or electronic workbook would be a great compliment and I’d happily pay for one. Just in case the team decide to bring one out!!

    thanks

If you tap and hold on the brush in a menu list it will bring up the edit/delete/rename option list. Tap edit and on edit page set associated tool (at the bottom) to one of the options listed eg, brush.
This will show the name. Don't assign them all to brush as then they will not be available for other tools.
If you look closely at your second photo you will see a brush symbol against all the named brushes.
The second last brush however has no symbol assigned and no name.
The Studio Retouch brush set is a great example of assigning brushes to various tools. The symbol beside the brush tells you what tool has been assigned.

Upgrade successful but I noticed something odd. My brushes don’t have ‘titles’. Never had. But when I am at the Serif site....their screenshots do have them.

Yeah! It only took my 459 tries to figure that out. Okay.....I am exaggerating but I am thrilled it helped you too!

I still wish I knew why it didn’t work any other “normal” way but as long as it works, it’s cool.

Let me go through my steps and do some screenshots.

I download the file file from this forum and open in iZip. In iZip I extract all and click on the resulting afstyles file. iZip says it doesn’t recognize this file format and asks me where to open it. I click on Save to Files. When the location prompt comes up, I click iCloud Drive and then click Add in the upper right hand corner.

In Affinity Photo, open a document then open the Styles palette and click on Styles at the bottom. Click on the box with 3 lines (next to the pushpin icon) and click Import Styles. The Browse option should have the iCloud Drive open and you will see your downloaded file. Click that. Then watch your new Styles pop up in AP.

If you want a link to the free iZip app, yell.

Can anyone give me a step by step (or point me to a tutorial on Vimeo or YouTube) to help me install the style files that are downloaded from the Resources forum here? I did it successfully (and easily) with the previous version but I am just not doing well with the new version.

I have tried saving the files to Dropbox and the Files app but nothing is importing using “import styles” in the Styles palette.

    Color me frustrated.

Hi all, hope all is well, its been a while since I posted any updates. I've finally completed the first of many children's picture books, you may have seen a copy a while back, but I wasn't happy with the end results from the printers and there has been many, many changes. I have also designed the website in Affinity Designer which contains games and free activities for schools and parents.

Ohhh My Strawberry Monkey is the series of books and are stories of friendship based around a cute, pink, lovable, but somewhat clumsy monkey who will certainly cause a few chuckles.

The website is mystrawberrymonkey.com and you can find our first paperback here on Amazon

If you have grandkids, kids, nieces or nephews go check this out!
