Hey v_kyr, thanks for your reply! There was no "font_map.dat" in the specified App Support folder (as described in your linked post). This folder was just populated by the ON1 Plugins. I then removed the plugins, the issue persisted. Afterwards I removed the complete ~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo folder. AF Photo launched after that! 💟 So for me this seems solved 😃 My guess is as follows: My M1 MacBook was recently formatted and I did a clean reinstall of Monterey. I then installed AF Photo (Serif version), but didn't open it a single time. I then installed ON1 stuff, which put Plugins into the folder ~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo. Afterwards I launched AF Photo and it immediately crashed. Maybe AF Photo was confused that the App Support folder was already "populated" by something else? Could be related — or not. Anyways I'm very glad that it's working again.

Suspected something similar. Already did a atsutil databases -remove but it didn't help. Are there any means to wipe everything AF Photo related? I suppose this is already done by launching AF Photo while holding ctrl and selecting all checkboxes + clear?

The crash report is quoted above, do you need any further information from the Console app? Another thing which came to my mind is the installation of "ON1 Effects 2021", which seems to install a plugin for AF Photo, also (if I remember correctly). This didn't impose any problems in earlier times, but maybe it is related…

Affinity Photo worked on this machine without issues. The last thing I did was exporting a TIFF from Capture One 21 (ZIP compressed — maybe this was the trigger?) to Affinity Photo. After this AF Photo refused to launch. I did check my users Font folder, there are no fonts installed there. I also rebooted, removed the AF Photo preferences and reinstalled AF Photo. To no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

Sean P, damn I wouldn't have thought of that! There was indeed Keyboard Maestro running, which I solely use to automate keystroke sequences. Although I did disable any clipboard related functionality in Keyboard Maestro (as far as I could), something seems to happen in the background, which makes AF crash. What a pity, but a good and quick fix, with which I can live. Kudos to the Affinity team, again, for being super supportive!

Sorry to hear that, but I can assume that this could be related to a hardware issue (or maybe a system configuration issue). I've used Affinity Designer on many very different Macs, and also Windows machines, and such hard freezes like you explain didn't happen. Anyways I wish you the best in finding a solution.

Same here. Attached you can find an AF file to reproduce the issue, as well as the macOS generated crash report. Using version 1.8.3 from the App Store on macOS 10.15.3 How to reproduce: Open attached AF file crashdemo.afdesign Select Artboard. Use cmd + c keyboard shortcut to copy the Artboard to the clipboard. Affinity Designer should now crash. My projects are on hold, customers are waiting for project delivery, my AF files are already migrated to version 1.8 and there is no going back as hours of work have been spent. I have a valid App Store version of AF Designer and a Serif Store version of AF Designer for Windows. In the meantime Serif could help by providing the Store version to people affected by this issue. Also seeing that I have already bought AF Designer two times, it would be "out of good will" to help people struggling with this exact issue. I would not even have a problem if my Windows license would be converted to a macOS version. Main thing would be to finally continue work. If nothing will be done by Serif I am forced to buy AF Designer a third time, which would be super strange tbh. I'd appreciate help from Serif greatly. Thanks PS1: Yes, support has been contacted already. PS2: No, I cannot use my Windows version to work on the projects as there is no IT infrastructure in my office to support this currently.

Is it possible for people who bought Affinity via the App Store to get the "official" Store version without re-buying?

Apart from that: having the same issue that fonts are _always_ exported as outlines and not as "text". Using the App Store version. Would be glad to see a fix soon.

Thank you very much for the advice! sudo atsutil databases -remove Did the trick for me. Also rebooted the system afterwards. The exported PDF is now displayed properly. Awesome!

macOS 10.14.6 Afinity Designer 1.7.3 Used font: Roboto Light (font can be acquired from Google fonts) Used PDF export preset: "PDF (for print)" (tried several other PDF export presets to no avail) PDF previews applications: Apple Preview 10.1 and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC 2019 Text shows up garbled in the exported PDF. I've verified several other threads which expressed the same issue. Subsetting Fonts makes NO difference in my case, unfortunately. Exporting the PDF with text as curves works, but is not an option in this case. Same goes for a flattened PDF. I need a PDF where text is selectable. Does anybody know what I can do? Files to test are attached. Help would be greatly appreciated. I'm risking going back to Adobe InDesign which I would hate, but if the PDF font issue is not fixed there is no other way. helloWorldTest.pdf helloWorldTest.afdesign

+1 Been making extensive use of Object Styles in Adobe InDesign. Missing a similar function like this in Affinity Designer. Styles are currently pretty much of no big use in Affinity Designer.
