  1. Thanks for the reply. Even so as mentioned above the little list of what most of my styles contain are things that can be replicated in Affinity apps so still makes no sense why the coders for Affinity can't simply create a way to match the naming conventions of Adobe to those of Affinity!
  2. I find this really odd but when I right click in Windows and ask to have the file location opened I get a search page showing me basically nothing like what I'm asking for. I haven't upgraded to Designer 2 so when I right click on the Designer 1 icon for the file location I get the Program Files directory opened up for as it should be. So why is Serif hiding this newer version of of their software or is this being used on line with a desktop look and feel UI? That's the only thing my mind can come up with... Thanks for helping me understand this. Richard
  3. Hi, I was under the impression that if I were to save a style in it's raw form, meaning that all the elements from that style were still editable and not rasterized, that I could then import that into Affinity Photo. I've tried this for both versions of Affinity and it's not working. I keep getting error messages with "Unknown property" warnings. The style, as a test, was a pretty simple style made up of the following Bevel Color Overlay Pattern Overlay Outer Glow Drop Shadow I know that Affinity offers these effects. So not sure why this simple file is returning warnings like that! Also is there a way to get Patterns files from PS over to Affinity? Or is that a "one at a time" operation as well? Thanks so much Richard
  4. My only gripe is that I can't seem to move the main toolbar from the left to the right or have it float. I don't work from the left, I work from the right side and so it feels very cumbersome to me in that way. Also watched and agree with a YouTube video, the healing tool, the old Band-Aid icon was more appropriate than that new "blush brush" icon which is really confusing to me. Also no UI or UI text upscaling, I'm sorry but I'm in my 60's with crappy eyes and even with a large monitor there is some eye strain going on for me.
  5. Quite simply put. It's sad that Serif didn't think to cover this since Serif is Serif through and through but has abandoned their older software and gave us no way to recover or convert those older .dpp files over to Photo or Designer or one of the other Affinity apps. Very sad to me.
  6. I'm so sorry, I didn't see that! 😶 Where is CommunityPlus? Is there a link you can provide as I don't see it here in these forums. Thank you!
  7. I think my old website viewed OK on Tablets but not on phones. I don't really care about that so much as my site is a personal website and I'm 60 years old with bad eyes so I NEVER EVER view a website on my phone, it just strains them too much. I use my phone as ..... dig this... as a phone (and I text on it). I know some can't put theirs down but for me it's a large screen or nothing for doing computing other than texting. On an aside the WYSIWYG Web Builder program was brought to my attention. Seems allot like WebPlus. So I'm trying to decide if that's the path forward. Also the Button creation tool in WebPlus is kinda strange and convoluted in a way. Trying to create a button that I can actually import my own graphics in doesn't seem to work very well as I couldn't figure out how to actually delete the text and then import in my graphics. Couldn't figure out a way to resize the button "template" (first box) to fit my graphics a little nicer or figure out a way to round the edges of the template so I have a more rounded button. So that got frustrating after about 2 hours of messing around in that area. So if I continue with WebPlus I'll just have static buttons with no "light up" option when navigating to other pages. Oh well!
  8. THANK YOU. Cool! I do remember that extra in WebPlus. I'll watch and away I'll go making my buttons. YAY
  9. Hmmm, I do remember there being a setup to have a hover "light up" graphic within WebPlus but just can't find it. I have about 10 buttons and their hover lightened versions. So once I get this figured out or find a button that's set up already for that I'll just duplicate and change out the graphics. Not seeing it though!
  10. So a little off topic. So sorry ahead of time. Is there a way to make a graphic into a hover button and use a second, brightened up button to have a "light up" effect in WebPlus when hovered over or clicked on? I've looked all over the web for information on how to do this. I did this before and it's been so many years I can't remember how I went about doing such an action.
  11. Sadly I don't have the brain wiring for hand coding so a WYSIWYG editor is my gap stop and WebPlus still works. Funnily the team at NameCheap still haven't gotten back to me about my bringing up the glaring bug in their Website Builder software they provide so either they don't care or they are investigating still!
  12. Yes, use that all the time but when I uploaded the saved out website from WIX nothing happened. Obviously the hook files were missing and that makes sense. So hopefully WebPlus will generate those so uploading will do the trick. I'm no expert when it comes to website building and I certainly don't know what all it takes to make a site go live on the WWW so here's hoping! 😁
  13. Went ahead and installed WebPlus 8. It's actually OK. The social media buttons are very limited as I use Tumblr but I can make that easily. I just hope there is a way to use the built in tool to upload via FTP to NameCheap and make it go live using that. I don't know how to do it otherwise. NameCheap wants their clients to use their built in web building tools so I don't think their help team is up on how to hook up a website, well maybe the tech's can do that but they are not forthcoming with that info.
  14. Gotta agree with you folks about a website building software from this company. I was a huge fan of WebPlus but as mentioned very outdated. I see on line there is a WebPlus 11 or 10.5 but I don't think it's real so I have WebPlus 8 here on my hard drive, not installed. I recently had to move my domain and hosting from WIX and Register.com as they were just out of my price range with all that's going on with COVID so had to downgrade. Well I got turned on to a fairly good company called NameCheap. Yea, I know, a very strange name but affordable. Well their Website Builder software is quite buggy and so I was hoping I would find a solution on line for software that was easy and comparable to WebPlus. One thing I loved about WebPlus is there is an upload option which came in handy. I guess I'll look on line for the MS Expression and see if that seems good. Yea, I hear you Catshill. The WordPress revolution is annoying. NameCheap has a WordPress app too to build a site from but those templates are limiting and honestly quite ugly. I tried for a day to get one of them to look as beautiful as my website looked but no go on that front. SO I switched over to the Website Builder app and that was better but the menus are a mess. Like I would tell the software I wanted just the selected text box to only show on the HOME page and then when I would switch to another page there's that text box so the software is ignoring commands I had in place. It's too bad but I can't keep pulling out my hair over it. So back to square one and quite unhappy about it.
  15. Well I would rather put up with a little less work space or have a way to have panels slide out of sight when not in use to INCREASE work space. I do just fine in PS with those options. If Serif is the future of software and I think they are they, hopefully, will get on board with the NEED to have a "small, medium, large and huge" work space option settings for us for all their apps. Thanks folks for all your support and interesting conversations about this subject! 😁
  16. IIRC Adobe offers 3 size settings within the Photoshop prefs. I choose the largest and it's fine for me. Smaller displays would probably use the small or medium size.
  17. Oh, I totally agree with your on that RCR! BUT for those of us with sight issues and they want to tempt folks away from subscriptions like what Adobe offers then they need to visit (or revisit) getting display and UI options that will make things larger for those of us that really struggle with reading. I mean I can't even really make out, with my glasses on, the tips or help files much less the fonts for the preferences panel. Just too small for me. I do agree though, for folks that are using laptops but you have to keep in mind that many of us, content makers, need bigger displays to get things looking just right. I can't even use my phone for very long as the eye strain is just too much for me. So while I don't mind texting with friends and clients if it's allot of that sort of back and forth an hour later I'm literally seeing cross eyed for a few minutes trying to get my eye muscles to snap back and my vision is blurry on top of that for a while after that.
  18. OK. I guess I'm stuck then unless Serif decides to give us scale or font increase options. This will limit my usage of their fabulous programs. Wondering if the older (non Affinity) Serif programs like PhotoPlus had font or UI scaling options? Can't remember, it's been a while!
  19. OK, I'm willing to try this "app scaling" but I have no idea how to access that area. When I was mentioning that I tried scaling things larger or setting up a different resolution this was for a system wide. I didn't really know that Windows provided a per app scaling option. Please advise! Thank you!
  20. LOL. No I'm an older gent, I have a 32" display, not using a laptop but a desktop. The display is at the recommended resolution. Any time in the past when I've tried to get a a better fit with a resolution that gives me larger font options the UI looks "off" to me and the icons are humongous. I don't need all that hassle. If there was even a registry hack for this program I'd try that. I think the fonts for the UI are set to something like 8 or maybe 9 points, I see fonts best at an 11 and up. If at 11 I like a Bold factor in place so the fonts stand out better. I truly sucks getting older and trying to keep up with all the new programs but when a program doesn't give "Old folks" settings to get the UI or fonts to reasonable size then it kinda breaks the charm of the program! 😪
  21. Exactly. I'd rather have a way to control this from within the program. My Windows Fonts are set up to my liking and I don't really want to mess with those settings! If they give this kind of control on the MAC platform then why not give us that same fine control on the Windows platform?!?
