DegasBrush reacted to Lorox in 1 bit TIFF/Bitmap support please
Yes, exactly what I've been thinking... As the 1-bit thing seems so basic (and intuitive) and has proven to be so useful in everyday design jobs (over years of usage in InDesign back in the day) I really don't get it why the guys at Serif seem so adamant of not implementing proper support in the Affinity apps.
To be honest: as to my current typical jobs I've generally been able so far to get away with that PNG K-only thing, but knowing there have been ways to use 1-bit bitmap properly and to the benefit of users for decades now it feels more than a bit odd to have find workarounds in modern software which (in many respects rightfully and successfully) challenges the industry master(s) of the past...

Hi DegasBrush
Please see my response a few posts up - this needs to be manually added on Windows.

DegasBrush got a reaction from mvaari in Expand stroke major breaks issue
Hi just had to prep some final art, expanding strokes to maintain integrity down the line and had a seriously destructive result from one instance (See photo) and another issue related is redundant points when using boolean operations ie when the software places two nodes/points exactly on top of one another.. very annoying and leading to unnecessary work. Also the same thing occurred on the opposite side/corner to this one.
Stroke was set to outside. Anyone else experiencing this issue??
Cheers

DegasBrush reacted to Fixx in 1 bit TIFF/Bitmap support please
As Serif has earlier mentioned, it might be possible to add 1-bit tiff export to Photo. That would help a long way. There should also be an option to use dither/no dither – which option should also be added to gif and png export settings.
Tougher question is if Publisher can support 1-bit – and yes, of course it should, but it may take making deep alterations to Affinity graphics engine.

DegasBrush reacted to AdamW in Affinity Publisher Customer Beta - 1.9.0.796
Status: Beta
Purpose: Updates and Fixes
Requirements: Purchased Affinity Publisher
Windows Store: Not submitted
Download: Download
Auto-update: Not available
Hi,
We are pleased to announce that Affinity Publisher Customer Beta 1.9.0.796 is now available as a download from the link above.
If this is your first time using a customer beta of an Affinity app, it’s worth noting that the beta will install as a separate app - alongside your store version. They will not interfere with each other at all and you can continue to use the store version for critical work without worry.
This beta is significant update from the 1.8 version available for purchase - we strongly recommend that you do not use this beta for real work as data could be lost and the files you save are not guaranteed to open in previous or future versions of Affinity Publisher.

Data Merge
- Use the Data Merge Manager (Document > Data Merge Manager) to create a new datasource based on a Text / CSV, JSON or Excel file
- Insert Fields from the datasource into text objects via the Fields Panel
- Fields that represent image resource paths can be applied to Picture Frames
- Optionally, use the DataMerge Node Tool in your source document to create N-up tiled source records
- Use 'Generate' from the Data Merge Manager to create a new document based on your source document and datasource
Package
- Use 'Save As Package' and target an empty folder to create a packaged copy of your document and collect used fonts and linked images into subfolders
- The package folder can be moved in its entirety to another location or to another device
- On re-opening the package, links to images will be resolved and fonts can optionally be temporarily installed
- It is important to adhere to copyright and licensing restrictions if redistributing images or fonts
Studio Presets
- Save and load custom Studio Workspaces

DegasBrush got a reaction from grafemo in Change guide color?
Hi guys, yes having color/type control that you have in AI would be great! BUT.. you realise there is a work around that I tried today?
Create a style for line weight and color.... even blend modes/opacity if you needed the guides to be somewhat transparent..then just set a new layer as a guides layer and use shapes and line tool for guides using snap to elements etc in the snapping settings... if anything that's probably a bit more flexible than the current way it is.
One thing I did like about Illustrator was the ability to make shapes into actual guide objects.
Anyway that was my thoughts..
Cheers

DegasBrush got a reaction from PaulEC in Curve problem
I suspect that's how it was done in Photoshop - so possibly an assumption that it would work the same way in Affinity... well I certainly learned something! LOL

The trick is the "right mouse button" as discovered by @DegasBrush ! It's not mentionned in the "Vintage Logo" video you posted.

DegasBrush got a reaction from ashf in Print Production plugin or Persona for Publisher?
Hi there, I can't wait for the full retail version of Publisher, will be putting in my pre-order (I know it's close) in the next couple of days!
But I'd like to know if there's any chance anyone has thought about adding either a prepress plug-in or Persona to fully press check documents as you can in Adobe Acrobat DC Pro?
For example check that spot ink or CMYK separations and rasterisations are correct as required for the print destination.. Acrobat has remained as my only tether to Adobe, it would be nice to be completely free at some point in the future! Anyone else think this?
Thanks for listening...
Cheers

DegasBrush reacted to rachmac in Macros/Actions in Affinity Designer
I'm just new to Affinity Designer and so far loving it, but I was really surprised today to discover there is no capability for setting up macros to speed up the processes I use. It's a feature I rely heavily on in Adobe.
Would love to see this in a future update as I'm sure I'm not the only one who uses macros to speed up workflow.

DegasBrush reacted to mmuller in Affinity Publisher Public Beta - 1.7.0.384 (RC1)
May I add my name to the (hopefully) HUGE number of people wanting to say Thank you for creating a sensible alternative to the Adobe/Quark domination of DTP! My collection Photo/Designer/Publisher is now complete.
All I require now is a vector warp tool in Designer Feel free to have a break for a couple of days and then I'll gladly test your 1.7.1 beta with said tool!!!
