  1. Thank you. The second link was just saying that it's about setting the background color - which is set to transparent in my case (see screenshots). The first link was helpful. It seems to be a common issue with the iPad version of the app. > We've found this can happen if you've pasted text off the web it can inherit the background colour which is then unchangable inside the app. This can then becomes the text tool's default for that file if you Synchronize Defaults from Object meaning any new text will also get this colour. I guess that somehow also happened with me but the UI was not telling me or was somehow assuming transparent = red What helped was Edit > Defaults > Factory reset This seems a bug to me, and the factory reset like a workaround. I'm happy that I can continue working on my design again.
  2. It is also displayed when Hardware acceleration is turned off, and is also being printed, so it's not only a display glitch.
  3. It also applies when I transform shapes into text boxes via artistic text, they have a fill color of red/brown. Even worse, I can't set it to a white background (as a workaround)
  4. All new text, artistic text, or text frames all have a brown/red background when I create them. The background color is set to transparent. While I can set them to a different color, I can not set them to transparent. Is it some setting I overlook?
  5. I already opened a bug request in October for the 1.7.x series. Since it got archived but the bug still persists in the 1.8.x series I am reposting it. I am running into text flow issues within the Nyala font 1. Words are breaking (where the were not breaking before) 2a. Text flow within a curve are not working as expected. They are currently rendered below the actual curve instead of within. 2b. Creating a new curve with text does not flow text correctly. You find an example file attached and pictures and a video illustrating the issue. affinity-not-flowing.mov not-flowing-nyala.afdesign
  6. I retested in 1.8.3 for Nyala font. Any advice on perhaps fixing the font instead of the application?
  7. I retested 1.8.0.2 beta and the behaviour is still broken for Nyala font.
  8. Hi Sean @Sean P, While I am waiting eagerly for a new beta that might address my issue, I was hoping to work around the issue by using an older version of Affinity Designer and I am running into some roadblocks. Through a forum post (1) I found a link to older versions at (2), especially to 1.7.0 and 1.6.5. I can verify that the bug was already existent in 1.7.0 and that I can’t work with 1.7.x of Affinity on this project. But, unfortunately, I am not able to run the 1.6.5 version offered on (2). It says “Your trial has expired!”. I bought Affinity Designer via the MacApp store and don’t have a product key that I am aware of. 1) Is there a way to reset the trial? Or 2) Give me a (temporary) product key for 1.6? Regards, Oliver (1) https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/101305-mac-install-older-version/&tab=comments#comment-545913 (2) https://store.serif.com/en-gb/update/macos/designer/1/
  9. @walt.farrell Thanks for the link to the previous versions and a great idea to use a trial version. Unfortunately, the bug exists already in 1.7.0 so the 1.7.x range is blocked for me. I tried the latest offering of 1.6.x, which is 1.6.5 and it says that the trial already expired, blocking me for usage. Since I don't have product key (being early MacApp Store buyer) I can't unlock that version, leaving me with no way to work on the project. @v_kyr > ask someone from Affinity How would I do that, if not via forum thread like this? > maybe in the meantime be already addressed/handled in an actual beta version. If you check the beta forum, you see that there is no 1.7.4 beta version (addressing my bug).
  10. Hindsight is 20/20. Can you upload your version somewhere? How far do your backups go back?
  11. A good idea to download a trial version but I can only find a link to the latest version 1.7.3 which does not work in my use case. The only way to a download I find is via "https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/designer/" -> Free Trial, which immediately creates a checkout and a download with the latest version. Would you be able to describe how to get to or send me a link to older versions?
  12. Haven't heard back - which leads me to believe that it is not possible via the App Store (my own research ended up with the same result). Is there perhaps a way to switch my license to the Affinity Store (if it is possible to rollback to an older version there)?
  13. How can I install an older version (before 1.7.3) on a Mac? I am currently blocked by a bug (1) but I know that an older version was working properly. (1):
  14. I made an example file not-flowing-nyala.afdesign Changing the typeface fixes the issue (but I need that font.) It worked before. Although I have to correct myself, I am actually not sure with which version created the file with. macOS Preview shows the correct rendering in the thumbnail.
  15. I wanted to fix an issue with an existing design and I am running into text flow issues within that file. 1. Words are breaking (where the were not breaking before) 2a. Text flow within a curve are not working as expected. They are currently rendered below the actual curve instead of within. 2b. Creating a new curve with text does not flow text correctly. macOS 10.15.1 Beta (19B86a) Designer 1.73 affinity-not-flowing.mov
