  1. I am not sure if these are really bugs or just a suggestion for improvement so this might be in the wrong forum. These are are relatively minor issues but I wanted to just give some feedback as they do impact on the usability of the application. I am using Windows 10 and downloaded the Latest version 1.7.0.312 on 9/05/2020 but these 'bugs' apply equally to the previous version Resource manager and missing resources. If you move resources to a new folder and they become missing in Publisher, the resource manager is not very helpful or intuitive to use. When looking for a missing file , using the 'update' button it would be useful to populate the filename window with the name of the image. It would be even more useful if the resource manager could just be pointed to the new folder. Currently each resource has to be updated individually. With many documents having tens, or even hundreds, of resources it is a major rework. Text Frames and Styles?(possibly) I was working on a document and wanted three different text frame styles, one plain and two with contrasting backgrounds. It would have been useful to employ Text Frame Styles but they don't seem to be available. So each time I changed the appearance of a text frame those changes persisted to the next Text Frame, meaning I was constantly editing text Frame parameters. For me the best workflow is to use plain Text frames and only edit the parameters of each Text Frame at the end of the document creation but that is not an ideal way to work for me. I am enjoying playing with the Application and look forward to the final product to accompany my AP and AD application. PS. In the edit menu I can 'Paste Style' as I can also in A_Designer ( and maybe A_Photo ?) .but this menu option is not available when I right click on the mouse. It would be great if it could be accessed from a mouse click as well
  2. I had similar issue and it was caused by my moving the image files to a different directory. Check that the images are still in the directory pointed to
  3. In Illustrator many items/curves can be placed on a single layer. In affinity Designer each goes on it;'s own layer. is it possible you are simple seeing the different way the two Applications work?
  4. It you have made edits then the App is going to ask you if you want to save before exiting. Most Apps do this. If other changes are made to the file it can also ask if you want to save.) for instance in designer, if you export in different formats it will also ask if you want to save changes even though you might have made no edits I think this is expected behaviour?
  5. If you are on Windows then Office Lens is free and can do OCR. I have sued it successfully for large documents and it outputs in Word or PDF. However you need to convert the input document to an image(jpeg, png, bmp etc) . I do this in Affinity Designer/Photo.
  6. Thanks R C-R. I think I arranged the artboards top to bottom to ensure they would print in that order - so I inadvertently created the problem myself. I have rearranged the artboards on the layers panel and the print order is now correct. Thanks again for your help Gerard
  7. This is probably rather trivial but if there is a simple solution I would be grateful. I am using artboards , in Designer, to approximate pages in a larger document. Started with one artboard/page and duplicated as I needed. ( I know Publisher would be a more appropriate application and I will migrate when it is available - I do have the beta on trial) . However when I export to PDF for print the order of the pages is reversed. I can see no setting to arrange the order of the exported artboards/pages. I have also tried the export persona with the same result. At the moment I open in Acrobat and reorder the pages so not a big problem but if there is a simple solution I would be happy to hear it. thanks Gerard
  8. Thanks Callum I hadn't realised that there was a frame around the image. It is working now thanks. Just need to clean up! regards gerard
  9. I have a word document, created by Office lens, which contains text and an image. I cannot copy and paste the image into Affinity Designer or Affinity Photo. I can import into Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop as well as into Microsoft Paint 3d. And I could save in Illusttrator and import into Affinity designer. I just wonder if this is a known problem or am I doing something wrong. I attached the Word document with the image and the text deleted. Thanks for any ideas. As I have said, I can use Illustrator as an intermediary App. but I would prefer to paste directly diagram only.docx
  10. Playing around with this further, if I uncheck the 'Facing pages' checkbox in the Document setup it corrects this and exports each page correctly.
  11. I have created 12 page document , page size A4. When exported as pdf, I get facing pages combined into a single A3 page. In same document, print to pdf does not work. Haven't tried printing to paper yet. I have repeated with a second document with the same results
  12. Thanks Chris I was trying to place an empty table on the master page , essentially just for the frame, and add different contents on the individual pages. I need to find another way of doing it! thanks
  13. The photos you posted are quite small, the largest is only 1000 pixels on longest side. If you took these photos then perhaps check your originals and see if you have larger versions. I know nothing of iPhone but I know even an average phone would produce larger files than these
  14. I have a number of problems working with tables. I have created a table on the Master page. When I try to add to a cell on a page it adds it to the master. At times I cannot select a cell to insert text into it. The file saved, but when I try to reopened it I get the error message "The file type is not supported." ( the file type is shown as ".afpub"
  15. Thanks Carl, That works for me ! I also tried removing the artboard on the original file and that is now working too. So just a problem with artboards on Windows machines. thanks again Gerard
  16. Hi MEB I am using Windows 10 and designer 1.6.5.123 As you can see with the files I uploaded, the 'fill' on the sides of the box are not exported for me
  17. Dan, I notice that CyprienDlp hasn't responded yet. Would you mind taking a look at my files which shows the same thing? Designer files attached as well as jpg and png exported file. "Buttonknob" is embedded into "blankcolour2" and exported as blankcolour2-25.jpg and blankcolour2-25.png thanks gerard blankcolour2.afdesign buttunknob.afdesign
  18. I am having the same problem in Designer. Embedded afdesign files are not being exported in either jpg or png
  19. Importantly, This does not work if you have bought Affinity from Microsoft Store. If you need this then better to buy directly from Serif
  20. I am following the linked tutorial , creating my own document. I have created a dark rectangle on the , 2 page, master and applied master to all pages , 1-12. Document is set with page 1 on right. On closing and reopening I lose the dark rectangle on page 1. I seem to be doing exactly as in the tutorial.
  21. As the tile says, when I select a picture frame, containing a picture, right click and click on 'rotate right' the whole document is rotated not just the picture frame. I am following the tutorial and the document I am working on is my attempt at the brochure with my own phots and text.
  22. Re we talking about American pica's, French picas, or Postscript pica?
  23. There is a before /after tool in the Develop persona. it is the Blue/white half circles on the mid tool bar. Not sure in the Photo persona. I usually toggle the visible checkbox in the layers panel to display( or not) the adjustment layer.
