So, just for my sanity, I continued to fuss with this. I found that when opening a smart PSD in designer the embedded document converts to layers (as described/should). I then opened the Smart PSD in photo and got the same display issues as in designer and publisher. I have the import smart psd selected and all is in order with photo. the file behaves properly except for the screen redraw. I can work around this but it seems an odd issue. thanks again. When I double click to edit an embedded document, the display goes all wonky and will not correct itself until I exit and reopen the document. It doesn’t seem to be only this document. It also happens (same document) in Publisher. This has been a thing for quite a while. thanks for your help. iPad Pro 12.9” M2 iPadOS 16.3.1 Designer Ver 2.0.4.1701

Since latest iPadOS update, Designer does not save files. New files have no thumbnail in the file browser and the app crashes on any save or export. i can open and work on new and old documents but can not save beyond the auto save that the app does when closing the document. Is there a way to turn this behavior off?
Derrick Phillips replied to Derrick Phillips's topic in V1 Bugs found on iPads
Hi, I’m using the latest 12.9” (M1) iPad Pro and the latest version of Designer (1.10). This has been happening on every version of Designer that I’ve used. It seems that when working with text, the cursor wants to stay at the middle of the screen or at least on screen. If I try to zoom in on a text box to adjust something and the cursor leaves the screen I get a similar result. -
I don’t think it’s a bug because it has been around as long as I can remember. See the attachment to see it in action. When working with text, if the cursor leaves the center of the screen, the document zooms to what I believe it thinks is the place that the text should be focused. It is never in a place that is helpful and is in fact quite disruptive to workflow as I then have to reposition the screen to continue working. This also happens when zooming on a text box. This is VERY frustrating. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks IMG_0017.MP4

This just happened to me. I was trying to save a selection as an asset, the application hung then quit. After a restart all assets gone except for one. When I go to the account area it says that the assets are already installed. I hadn’t done an export in a while so I’m afraid I’ve lost some assets. I’m on the latest Designer and iPadOS versions. iPad Pro 12.9” (2020)

It would be very helpful if there was a way to move the context toolbar to the top of the screen or hide it. Many times, especially when refining selections, with Apple Pencil, when my wrist moves it taps the menu causing it to deselect and I lose the work that I’ve done. VERY frustrating. If i could place it at the top of the screen, that wouldn’t happen.

Reset tools (again)

Got it. Thanks. Those icons are very similar (in a bad way). -

I’ve asked this before but I don’t ever seem to get a reply. On the iPad version of designer, at sum point I set the stroke width to 600pt. Probably on my way to some other realistic size. for whatever reason that setting stuck. Every time I draw a new stroke with the pen tool, it comes on at 600pt. what can I do to fix this behavior? thanks.

I’m in the iPad app. I think I forgot to mention that. -
I don’t know if I’m posting this in the right place, but it would be great if we had an option to reset tools to a default state. At some point in my time using the app, I set the color of the text to an odd green and the point size of strokes to 600px. This was probably on the way to some others size and color choices, but for whatever reason, the app has held on to these values. Whenever I draw a new shape it has a 600px stroke and the text is the odd green. I have to reset the parameters every time manually. Very frustrating and slows my workflow. thanks

I know it’s been mentioned before but we REALLY need to have a lighter background for the assets menu in the iPad Apps. Or at least an option. As you can see in the screenshot it is Impossible to see dark colored assets that are imported in to the app. It is not practical to re-save (sometimes) hundreds of individual assets so that I can see them in the menu.

I may be wrong, but he might mean, how can we reset tools to the default values. When I draw a box, for example, and add a stroke to it, the stroke is whatever the last setting was (in this example, 600pt). it would be great to have the stroke start at zero or some other (smaller) value rather than the last totally unrelated value.

It would be great if there was a way to hide an active selection without deselecting. I want to say I’ve seen this before (in Illustrator?) but I might be making it up. Either way it would be helpful to quickly see what’s going on with a drawing without having to deselect and resell the to make an adjustment. Thanks!

Reset Tools

Thank you. -
Is it possible to reset tools to their default state? When I use the artistic text tool, it always uses values that I have used in the past. Sometimes far in the past. So I then have to go through to deselect superscript, all caps, and reset tracking and leading to zero. It would be helpful to me if the tools can forget recently used setting or I can reset them manually and not have to go back in to each text and reset all of the settings. Thanks.
