I know where the tools are, it's just too hidden away.

For example in Sketch, selecting an objects' colour rectangle automatically shows the gradient sliders on the object and the colour picker itself.

In AD, the gradient tool is not selected automatically, you have no way of seeng the gradient points and the gradient itself without goint into the Gradient tool, and even by selecting the gradient tool and changing a colour in the colour picker you apply that one colour to the whole object and lose the gradient. Maybe the problem is, that a gradient point is not selected automatically, like it is in Sketch for example.

or maybe something like this slider is missing

    Hi all!

Am I doing something wrong or is working with gradients is not intuitive.

Gradient tool is great, flexible and fast by itself, but when I need to change the colours it becomes frustrating.

The colour circle is representing the gradient, but when you click it you are given a choice to select 1 colour, not the gradient range.

Purpose: Features / Improvements / Fixes
    Status: Beta
    Requirements: Purchased Affinity Designer
    Mac App Store: Not Submitted
    Download: Here

To use this beta, simply download the file from the link given above and double-click on the file to open the installer. Follow the instructions to install the beta version. The beta sits alongside the Mac App Store version and will not interfere with it.

    Notable changes:
    - Artboards. These are still work-in-progress and you can expect a few niggles, but at least you can see the direction we're heading. At present we still need to add auto-slice creation to Export Persona for artboards and we also show an occasional flicker when adding artboards: these will be fixed before the next update. We also need to move guide, grid and rulers to work per-artboard, so these are currently not as they will be in the final release and will be fixed asap.
    - Global colours.
    - Full support for P3 panels found in the new 5k iMac and 4k iMac. If you have one of these you can try making a new RGB8 document with ProPhoto profile and choosing RGB(255,0,0) or RGB(0,255,0) as the colour of your objects - they should look richer and more vivid than you are used to seeing.
    - View points added to the Navigator. The Navigator has an advanced mode that lets you choose to create and swap between specific view zoom/position saved points.
    - Font fixes. Specifically, a number of font-related crashes have been addressed
    - Export/Import improvements - particularly PDF.
    - Fix for Text tool failing to accept certain characters (those that were mapped to other shortcuts!)
    - Snapping improved for Rotation Centre. Rotation Centre is available from the Move Tool's context toolbar.
    - Pantone/named colour/tint improvements. Selecting an object which has a Pantone colour will automatically choose the tint options in the colour panel.
    - Canvas rotation. The canvas can be rotated by using the touchpad's rotate gesture or by using the View menu items 'Rotate Left', 'Rotate Right' or 'Reset Rotation'.
    - Fix for colour conversion issues exhibited with HSL colours in RGB document formats.
    - Character & Paragraph panel improvements.
    - Typography panel show visually the effects of different OpenType features. Select some text and go to the Typography panel - this will show you the available options for your current font and text selection. Try changing fonts for more options.
    - Printer’s marks and bleed available for output. The export options for PDF now include these additional options, as does the Print dialog.
    - Smart Tap feature. Toggle between the current zoom and 100% by double-tapping with two fingers on the trackpad. This is useful for designing up close and being able to easily refer to a 100% view and then back again.
    - Updated splash screens. These are necessary as we need to include Pantone licensing information.
    - Added Split-toning adjustment. This is available from the Layers panel's adjustments menu and the main Layers->Adjustments menu.
    - Snapshots panel. This panel (disabled by default) allows you to take a snapshot of the document in the current state and refer back to it at later points.
    - Added shortcuts for the different Personas. These can be customised by the user as desired.

Get prepared for one heck of a party then, Ash! ;)  Yes, Artboards can be made from any vector object, they can have properties (like background gradients, stroke styles) and you can manipulate their curves with the normal tools... so that means you can also make them from text... The idea is that they should be as flexible as possible, but you'll probably mainly want rectangles! ;)

Just to add some proof that it's really not far away, I took a screen recording a minute ago of my debug version...

Apple Photos happily imports RAW files and sorts them by shooting time and location (if GPS available). You can further group photos into albums/smart albums. It also allows you to hit "Edit in Affinity Photo." So since Macs already have a free DAM, the market for a dedicated DAM is small... Dev resources are better spent on Designer/Photo/Publisher.

Slovoflud got a reaction from Paul Bravery in Exporting to a set size
    Hi, team!

One feature I see helping AD replacing PS in several categories like photography or game/app develpment a lot is exporting assets and textures. Slices are great, but what would really help is setting the size of the actual exported slice.

For example you have a dosen art assets that you need to export, and the sources were drawn at high resolutions, in Export persona, when exporting you could set to resize the export to be no more than X in width or height. That way you don't have to resize your art before or after exprort. There many other things that could be done during export but setting the size would be a huge first step.

I hope I make sence and not missing an obvious way to go about it with the current versions.

A little background, I'm a project manager at a fairly large games company and being responsible for our art/toolset vision I'm trying to convince my management to abandon PS and switch our art production to Affinity products.

    Hi,

As I mentioned before after a restart my performance (the penspeed ) was oké but today It happend to be slow again.
When drawing a line with my Wacom tablet the stroke on the screen comes later. (in illustrator it is behaving normal so it is not the tablet)
I put two screenshots here from the preference panel.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks in advance
