Tazintosh got a reaction from Kaze in Items Selection Nightmare :(
    Hi,
    I'm running 2.2.0.
My everyday work remains a nightmare as I titled 10 months ago.
Please open the following file and tell me if —ever— it's possible to select the "sand" (stock photo) image layer, —without— clicking it directly on the layers panel.
I cannot achieve it, and those kind of behaviours are driving me crazy
I don't know what have been messed up, but I've never wasted so much time trying to select my layers (of whatever kind), than this v2.

    Hi folks,
I feel there is a big regression on selection precision and a very effective productivity killer.
The following is similar to this topic but applies more globally on my video.
This first video shows the selection process using Affinity Designer V1:
If I need the selection items inside a group or a shape, I'm pressing cmd. Please note that selecting the white rectangle works flawlessly whenever the pointer does not hover a text. This is all perfectly working.

    Affinity - V1 Selection Behavior.mov
This second video shows the selection process using Affinity Designer V2:
Here I'm trying to select the white rectangle. Even if my pointer clearly not overlap texts, those will select, making impossible to reach the white rectangle. It's like there is a huge invisible contour/offset around texts. Also, the tendency of the move tool to switch to text tool is super annoying.

Affinity - V2 Selection Behavior.mov   Hope this helps.
    Regards.

Good morning, afternoon, evening (pick you fav.)!

I'm working a —lot— with constraints.
It's an incredible time saver. But not always… :(

Lets say you've designed a complex element, using a lot of constraints, groups, subgroups, children, etc. All of this is perfectly working with constraints when you resize the element (wider or higher). But now, you need to change it's size for any of the many reasons that could exist. I really mean you have to —scale— up/down everything: texts, shapes, etc. At this moment, you —don't— want any of the constraints to apply. I've not found yet anything that would allow me to do this.
Didn't found a shortcut to temporarily deactivate constraints. Didn't found an button to reset/remove —all— constraints of an element and —all— it's children. --> My only workaround (and I hate it), was to duplicate the element, and manually destroy all the work done (delete all groups, children, clips, set everything to one single level), and then apply a default constraint to all. My work is composed of a —huge— amount of elements, and the time lost to do the above is killing me :( Am I missing something?
    All the best

    Hi everyone,
Thanks for your feedback and sorry for the delay getting back to you.
I've bumped/updated the original report again and will bring it to devs attention - it is indeed a bit problematic/cumbersome trying to work as it is. My apologies for the inconvenience this is causing you.

    @Tazintosh,
I'm logging your second issue (selecting an object using cmd). V1 does behave the same way, so this is nothing new but should work as expected. Thanks for raising it up.

    Hi guys,
I'll add this new issue, related, since we end up not being able to select elements.
You'll find the document attached to try out.
    Steps to reproduce:
Create two open shapes with fill Make one child of the other Try selecting the child by pressing ⌘ (on macOS). It works Now remove the fill on the parent shape and try again: It won't work, you cannot select the child anymore.

Tazintosh got a reaction from Frozen Death Knight in Transform (resize / position / etc.) multiple slices at once
    Hi folks,
For a long time, I'm struggling with a task that should have been straight forward and I'm loosing a lot of time on each project.
I often need to export a great amont of slices (can be 50, 100…). Those slices are initially made from layers (thus linked to them, which is essential in my workflow). But I need all slices to be the size of the artboard. With Affinity, I cannot select all my slices, go to the transform panel and type in x0, y0, w1200, h1200 (see attached example) at once. I've to do this manually for everything single slice !!! The transform panel is grey out at the moment a multiple slice selection is done, which is immensely sad
Would be very nice to allow such a behaviour.
    Thanks in advance.

Tazintosh got a reaction from Laganama in Designer: Vector Brush won't switch to Plain Stroke
    Hi folks,
What's the situation with this bug?
It's still present on the last Designer version.

This is BTW just a workaround, which is sadly not complete. As any attempts to set back pressure profile —onto the solid style— will end up with the brush texture applied again.
Note that clicking the "properties…" button on the Stroke panel, keeps displaying Texture related content, even if you are in solid style.
The only workaround I've found to really switch back to solid style is the following:
Create a filled rectangle that will frame your buggy stroke Move it under the stroke layer Intersect the two layers Switch back the result curve from fill to stroke Open it if needed (cause the curve fill be close by the operation) Set your solid style pressure Voilà! --> but this is quite some time loss.

    Hi dear Affinity Team,
Almost since the beginning of your adventure, I'm a big fan of your apps. Bought them all, trash any single piece of Adobe files on my system, I just love your work.   Well… until today… A few days ago, I've designed an Affinity Designer file, which contain 3 very precisely scaled shapes planned to be laser cut (document set in cm). The laser company needed separated files, so, for each of the three shapes to be cut: • I copied the group shape and pasted it on a new document (⌘ ⌥ ⇧ n). • Saved the new document for reference and exported it to PDF. • Sent it to cut to the company.   I paid 209,33€ for the job (inox plates, 2mm thick)   Today, I received the plates, and they are too small!!! I immediately checked my exported files, and indeed, they are too small!!! So: • Yes, this is my fault for not having double checked the exported files and the company has made no mistake, so their is nothing I can complain • BUT, YOU changed the scale during the copy/paste process!!! Why such a bug exist??? I was trusting you, didn't pay attention… This bug can be reproduced at will, cannot believe it!!!   I'm absolutely revolted right now, both against me by my excess of confidence in the quality of your work, and by you because your lack costed me so much money!   I don't know what to think anymore.   Regards

Well, I'm glad everyone is seeing the issue.
Unfortunately, I'm no longer getting the friendly connection when dragging ends together .
It's a very bad sign when a glitch has better functionality than the actual software .
I can offer a workaround that doesn't involve extra nodes though.
(that this is even necessary 5 years in is........ )
Oh, and hitting "Divide" to close something is... hilarious.
