  1. I'm not sure I'm posting in the right section, feel free to move it.

Hi, I had a comission to do, it's a modification from an .ai logo created by someone else who wasn't available at the moment for them, I had to add a hat to a monkey, it went super well but when I export it in .psd, I am no longer able to open it and my client really needs it to be either in .psd or .ai.

It's the first time I had to edit something made into an other software.

At first I thought it was because I didn't convert to curves my Mesh masks, but it is still not working.

Also if this infos can help, when I first open the original logo without modifications, every single hair of that monkey was countaining more than 100 vector layers, I had to [Add+] them all together one by one to reduce the amount of layers (it was exceeding 8000 so I wasn't able to export to .psd)

My images doesn't seem to have anything special for it to not save in order.

Pleaze I really wish you can help me on that.

if you need additional images or infos, let me know.

  2. I realised that the tip of any tool appears slightly tiny tiny bit on the left of my apple pencil on Affinity Desktop. (Via astropad  wich is not the source of it, I aslo tested with photoshop)

for exemple, when I draw a straight line from up to down with my apple pencil as straight as my line, I see the draw line appears slightly on the left from the tip of my pencil. (But appears perfectly in the middle on affinity photo for iPad)

This would be very useful if I was right handed tho, but I am not and even tho I got "use to it" this is still an handicape when I draw little details and tends to trigger my patience. ^^"

So I taught, if it's "normal" because it makes it easier to draw, we should have an option to calibrate it for left handed human as well!

There you go! Thanks team for your work, I love your softwares.

Are you on Windows or Mac, @Kurb?

On Windows, I have had some success with this approach:

    1. Press the Windows key and R, and in the Run box paste %AppData%\Affinity and then press OK.
    2. In the File Explorer dialog that opens, double-click on Photo, then 1.0, then Autosave.
    3. That directory contains the auto save files, which have a file name that is the date/time and an extension of .autosave.
    4. Find the file you want (based on its date/time) and change the extension to .afphoto.
    5. Then right-click on the file and choose Open With > Affinity Photo.

I am on mac, but I am quite glad this can be done on windows since I’m just waiting for Astropad to work on windows so I can switch to my brand new pc with my iPad pro : D

Do you think this kind of actions could be done with Mac?

  4. I am in panick...

I was just trying to switch place my brushes and it wasn’t working and it make my app crash.

My auto recovery file is at 900 seconde but when the app restart the document opened it self and it was the last save instead of the recovery (no dialogue box as usual), now I don’t want to touch anything in case I might be able to recovered my file from where I wanted.
I know affinity doesn’t have any folder where I am suppose to find them but, is there a way to find it anyway?

I highly suggest your team to make this possible to find the lost file somewhere. This never happened to me before while using photoshop, so I feel quite unsafe right now.

  5. So from the new update I noticed while starting drawing that I can’t no longer change the size of my brush by the shortcut sliding pen from  left to right, the fact we can now rotating the pen is quite cool tho, but I can’t find any way in the Keybaord shortcuts preferences section to keep a way to still sliding my width.

While the affinity photo manual on the internet still shows the old way, I’m still looking for the new way to do so.
“[“ and “]” is good for small increasing but not for big ones.

I think it's just supposed to be showing you what part of the image will be visible in the workspace. I don't think you're supposed to be using the rectangle as an actual preview of anything; it just helps you position the image in the workspace for you to work on.

Well that wouldn’t be very useful then, I think the navigator could be more of use if it could served all of this at the same time, a preview and a way to navigate your picture.

Working on drawings that will end up on a small game card, I really need that preview to be the right shade.
Well, I will put this in the feedback/idea instead.

  7. This may be a feedback or a question about the assets manipulation.

I wonder if it is just me that may doing it wrong or this is just how Designer is.

So every times I slide an element from the assets Panel it is placed directly on the top of my Layers Stack.
I was wondering why it wasn't placed right on top of the actual selected layer. So we wont have to make additional manipulations to drag it down where we want it to be.

It happens that I have so many layers that I have to slide the element in my document, cut it, select the layer I want it to be down of it and past it there.

Well, I would call that grouping.

You can open (or expand) the group to work on individual layers independently at any time, remove them from the group etc.

The group/ungroup button is in the layers studio. The middle one that looks a bit like a jigsaw puxxle piec.

Ooh oki I understand, grouping also creats a selection/layer that takes everything in it, cool. Photoshop CS6 don’t do that. Loveable. Thanks again : )

This lag is very strange. I have a first generation iPad Pro 12.9", and I don’t see any lag whatsoever. I believe to remember Affinity Photo was slower in earlier versions, but the latest iteration seems to work perfect on my system. As perfect as Procreate. From your screenshot, it doesn’t even seem that you are working on a huge canvas, so that shouldn’t be an issue as well. Hmm. :(

Maybe it would make sense to provide some information on your hardware to the developers.

    I also have the 12.9... : (

I’m sad and glad at the same time to know it is suppose to work like procreate because I really enjoy the affinity interface.

Sad cuz I cant find why it has bug haha, I baught my ipad last october I don’t think they created a new one since then, I still have my garantee in store to exchange it.

I’ll look for a way to contact the affinity developers.

This is weird the problem is only on Affinity... : (

    Thanks for your support.

Is the tip of the Apple Pencil a bit loose? Make sure it is fastened tightly. I had also wondered about bad responsiveness one day, and I noticed that I had inadvertently loosened my Pencil tip.

Does a restart of Affinity Photo make a difference?

It is super tight : (

I taught everybody on affinity were the same so it was always like that since like february, I also taught it was just me that never notice that before but was actualy always like that since I have it.

I plan to reinstall the app

I saved my files in my ipad in the affinity section, then on my mac, those are  .afphoto, ...good?

This is the only app that does this, I also have procreate and it is very smooth, but I prefer working on affinity. I’ll try with better charge, I’ll Let you know my feedback. Thanks ++

Back, so it is at 50% charge, still lagging and this on every kind of brush and tool : (

    Ok...

Is this behavior the same on every pencil or brush your’re using?

Has this delay always occur, even in other paint apps, or, is it only Affinity Photo?

As I’ve heard, to have low battery power in the Apple Pencil can interfere with the signal between the pencil and the app..

I’ll never go under 30% battery status on my pencil...

And, I have a very responded pencil, in every app and in every situation. I’m on iPad Pro 12.9” 2017 generation...

This is the only app that does this, I also have procreate and it is very smooth, but I prefer working on affinity. I’ll try with better charge, I’ll Let you know my feedback. Thanks ++

I am using a apple pencil, when my apple pencil touch the screen, the line doesnt appear right away, I know a little lag is normal, this also happens with photoshop via astropad, but the line always appears where I start it even if it’s late, but in affinity, the line doesnt always appears, I tryed the stabilisator to help but still, I am uploading a video to show you the lag.
