  1. Hi Meb, Today I was not able to reproduce the problem. I tried both the same AP project and created a new one. The "offending" Tif was from LR. Today I tried generating them again from both LR and AP. Everything perfect and smooth. I am deeply sorry if I wasted your time, but I can assure you that the other day I tried and tried several times, always with AP blocking. I know thinking it was a problem of my MacBook Pro. I assume that the execution of macos’s automatic maintenance procedures repaired some incorrect permission. I solemnly promise to be more careful and make a more thorough investigation in case another problem occurs. 😁 Have a nice day.
  2. Hi Staff, I've just bought AP2 and I'm studying it and the first impression is very good, faster than V1. Creating a montage, a space soldier with my face. Downloaded a jpg from the web of the space soldier Loaded a tif photo of mine, cutted the face and pasted in the project Using the "Selection brus tool" on the soldier figure, "Refine..." then saving as "New layer with mask" All works fine The same procedure on my face from a tif and AP hangs, forcing the to exit. Restarting the system, try it again, same result I've Converted my tif in a png (with AP) I've tryed again and all works fine. Installation: first removed all v1 programs (APhoto, ADdesigner and APublisher) done with AppCleaner (related app files & folders removed) installed Aphoto v2 System: MacBook Pro M1 2020 8gb of ram, 512gb of ssd macOS Monterey 12.6.1
  3. Hi Sherlock440, Just started Affinity Photo on my MacBook Pro M1 with 8gb of ram and the occupied ram is 619,4mb. I've encountered a ram problem when working with panoramas or stacks, but only after creating 4/5 panoramas.
  4. Hi Chris, Thanks for your answer. Normally I don't save to .afphoto when doing panoramas or stacks, exporting in tif 8bit, the panoramas normally under the 12.000 pixels and the stacks at 6240 × 4160 pixels (Canon 6D mkII resolution) the size of the tifs is normally under the 50mb. The internal ssd has 387Gb free (of 512Gb) and the external ssd 318Gb free (of 1Tb). I believe is a memory problem. I never got this error with my old iMac i7 27" mid 2010 with 16Gb of ram. I've bought the MacBook Pro 13" M1 because fit perfectly in my camera bag and has good power and battery life but in shop I only find the 8Gb ram version.
  5. Hi Staff, today after a long AP session I've got an error trying exporting a file in TIF format to disk... System model: MacBook Pro model id: MacBookPro17,1 chip: Apple M1 core: 8 ram: 8 GB sdd: 512gb macOS: Big Sur 11.4 The MacBook was plugin Affinity Photo version 1.9.3 (from Mac App Store) Only AP & Finder opened Working on Canon RAW from Canon EOS 6D mark II Raw files and exported Tif are stored on an external Samsung 1Tbyte T5 formatted with APFS Long working session with panoramas & stacking from bracketing, export tiff every image completed then closing the project without saving it Creating 6/7 panoramas (from 4 to 7 images each) Creating 5/6 stacks (2 images) only using mask in one of the layer Trying to export as tif the last stack then the error occur Trying to export on a different volume, same error Quitting AP, then repeating the last stack and all works fine. AP works fast and very well on my MacBook Pro. I believe is a memory problem and I don’t know if there is a solution, maybe I must change my workflow closing AP after 2/3 panoramas or stacks. Here the screenshots of the errors and infos from system monitor. Best regards. Riccardo.
  6. Looks like the problem is in Apple’s RAW engine ...(image at 50% and quality 100%)
  7. Hi, no problem, a pleasure to help the team ... I realized that the Apple engine was activated and not that Affinity. Now I try to redo the Panorama with the Affinity engine. Here the screenshot as request (I've loaded the first image of the panorama) Thanks
  8. Hi, I've just uploaded the raw files for the Canon 6D mark 2 and the Canon 600D. Thank you.
  9. Hi staff, These days I’m migrating all my photographic work from an old iMac to Macbook Pro. Before I had used Affinity Photo on the Mbpro only for light photo editing and revealed some raw files and all works fine. Today I tried to create a panorama on the MbPro from some raw files and the result, terrible, is what you can see in the photo attached. I did the test with the same files on the old imac and everything went up perfect. I did the same test on MbPro using RAW files of an old Canon 600D (same .CR2 format) and the problem, although minor, is present. I've uploaded the files (sorry are big) without any modification and exported as jpg at 100% I've bought this MacBook Pro because I have to move from where I live now to my homeland and I have to travel light for the next few months, and all works fine except this small problem. Maybe only 8gb of memory could be few but the literature on the subject pointed out that for normal use and photography was not a problem. I also use LR and it works smoothly (LR Panoramas too). Here the specifications: MacBook Pro 13", M1, 2020 macOS Big Sur 11.2.3 Affinity Photo 1.9.3 Memory 8gb Raw on external 1tb Samsung SSD ------------------------------------------ iMac 27" mid 2010 macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 Affinity Photo 1.9.3 Memory 16gb - intel i7 2,93 ghz Raw on internal 1tb hdd ------------------------------------------ test: 4 Canon Raw files .CR2 from a Canon EOS 6D mark 2 no editing only creating panorama then exporting as jpg standard 100% quality photo examples: - MacBook Pro M1 BigSur.jpg. (from 6D mk2) - iMac 27 mid 2010.jpg (from 6D mk2) - MacBook Pro M1 BigSur 2.jpg (from 600D)
  10. Thanks Anon2, all works fine now. Due to the small 13" screen the Protect Alpha checkbox was hidden.... 🍺
  11. Hi, I'm slowly migrate from my old 2010 iMac (with High Sierra to a MacBook Pro 13" with Big Sur 11.2.1 and Affinity Photo 1.9.1 ... A strange things occur: creating a new blank document using a preset (a small rgb/8 project) try to painting something with the brush, AP create a new pixel layer but nothing occur. On the old iMac all works fine. Inserting a Fill Layer then rasterise it, and I'm able to paint on it. Creating a new simple pixel layer I'm unable to paint on it. Placing an image, I'm can to paint on it but not on an a mask. Testing others tools like Pen Tool, Shapes, Smudge and all Warks fine. Any suggestion ? Thanks, Riccardo
  12. Slow startup for me. On MacBook Pro 13" M1 with Big Sur, slower than my old iMac i7 mid 2010 with High Sierra and ssd 😕
  13. My wish list for 2020? I hope the Affinity line of product remain compatible with old Mac and MacOS as long as possible. 😁
  14. As photographer and happy Affinity customer, I believe that, to enter the DAM market with the typical style of Affinity, the work is immense because, to date, no product can beat Lightroom in the organization and management of photos.
  15. I am well aware that the Affinity team does not give direct answers in the forum, it was simply a phrase to support the concept expressed by Daryl.
  16. First look today on my old iMac (mid 2010 27" i7 16gb ram 1gb MacOS 10.13.6) Develop a Canon raw. Ok, a bit faster. Build a panorama from 4 Canon Raw, all works fine, maybe a bit faster too then editing in Developer persona. Ok Loaded a copy of 1.7.x project and working on it. Ok Created a new project (I really love the "NEW" dialog box) and I've tried a lot of tools. Nothing wrong. Ok I hope to take a more complete test in the next days. Thanks for improve !
  17. @mistergarth: I own Affinity Photo, Designer & Publisher, as DAM I use an old version of LR, if the fastest when my wife and I will come back to home with hundreds of photos then I've the need to analyse, deleting, voting, setting the proper lens profiles (we have 3 cameras and often we use 4/5 lenses). I've tried a lot of programs but nothing is good as LR to do this job. On the development side there are better products. AP is one of them but his Develop Persona is powerful but slow when working with hundred of photos. I use it only for the 5 stars photos.
  18. I’m glad I can help. Have a nice day !
  19. Hi Cris, in the Panorama Persona. All works fine, I've decided to abort the panorama because the freehand photos didn’t line up well despite the correction with the tools of Panorama Persona. This morning I've tried again the same abort sequence (with the same programs loaded) and all works fine, no crash. Maybe my iMac was a bit tired and too much programs loaded at the same time. (Canon's raw files CR2 type) Thanks.
  20. - loading seven Canon Raw files - the panorama works fine - decide to abort the panorama - switch to LR after a couple of minutes Affinity Photo crash iMac i7 mid 2010, 16gb / ATI Radeon HD 5750 1gb / MacOS 10.13.6 / 1ssd + 1hdd Raw files stored on hdd, programs open a the moment: Mail, Safari, Chrome, Affinity, Lightroom, iTunes (playing), Reminders I've saved the crash report on a .txt file. Have a nice day, Riccardo Affinity Photo 1.71 crash on panorama.txt
