The sequel to the game box insert here: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/175702-video-game-box-insert-experiment-–-affinitia/
This version is a little darker because, in the game, ‘it’s all been kicking off’, so the mood has changed.
As with the other experiment, it’s not a real product; it’s just me messing around with stuff.
@jmwellborn Good news; the developers have been listening and this one is for Mac too.

I sometimes use an app called Snagit, it holds mouseovers and things like that, so you get to capture what you see in my image. Tried knitting ended up in a web of fluff, my dear auntie Audrey could knit a jumper in a hour, have a conversation and drink tea and eat biscuits, it was like a scene from the matrix lol!

Hello all, we're proud to announce that alongside the V2 launch of the Affinity apps, we've produced a completely new set of video tutorials to compliment the apps. These tutorials are all produced in-house by our Product Experts team.
We've worked incredibly hard on these videos, and feel they represent a huge jump in both technical and presentational quality. Hopefully you all agree! The old V1 videos—now considered legacy—are still available on YouTube, consolidated into one playlist. The link for this playlist is available at the bottom of this post.
Hope you all find the new tutorials useful!

Well, to be honest I already eared about this famous "Hardware Acceleration" , but I didn't know where to find it on my computer.
I didn't know it was in Affinity Photo 😅.
Well , in case of someone didn't know I took pictures , it's in french , so if someone who speak in french search too, because this software is very good and maybe some people stopped to use because of this problem  :
Si quelqu'un a déjà eu ce problème : Crash de Affinity photo , a cause d'un filtre , de plusieurs images lors d'un montage , de plusieurs calques, etc...
Alors qu'avant ca ne le faisait pas , c'est peut-être à cause du même problème que j'ai eu : Il faut aller dans
    EDITIONS -> PREFERENCES -> PERFORMANCES (le chat) -> [x] Activer l'acceleration matérielle OpenCL -> décocher []
    Plus de soucis depuis 🤗

"Affinity Designer, Affinity Photo and Affinity Publisher (on macOS, Windows, and iOS) had all recently been affected by recent operating system releases such as the launch of macOS Ventura, iOS 16 and Windows 10 and 11 updates. We have mitigated some of these in the 1.10.6 patches of all applications on all platforms. The changes fix/avoid the problems introduced by operating system changes thus returning earlier functionality.
If you are using Windows 10 or 11, macOS Ventura (13.x) or iOS 16 then we recommend installing these updates. Other supported operating systems can install the update without issue, but they have no specific advantages/fixes over 1.10.5 for your OS."

Yes, it fixes a few critical bugs that causes the app to crash
    Crashing means lost work
You are strongly advised to install it before you encounter one of those crashes

jmwellborn got a reaction from Wayne Burrows in AD V2 - Can't locate 'Styles' nor my 'Studio' menu
@Wayne Burrows  "How do I go about populating 'Assets'? Or is it really necessary?"
Assets are very personal.  Often it is really handy to have things readily available on your workspace, rather than digging through one's backup files somewhere in the recesses of one's computer to find just the right thing.  One nice thing about an Asset is that you can double click on the little icon and then move over to your canvas and drag your mouse to size the asset any way you like.  If you single click on the little icon instead and then drag over to the canvas, you may get one huge layer (depending upon the individual asset) which you must then resize.
Just for fun, here is my Affinity Cats asset, which you might like to download and try importing into your Assets Panel, just to see how it works.  Click on the little hamburger icon at the top right of your Assets Panel, and choose Import Asset.  Then go to your Download location and click on the Affinity cats.afassets file.   You should now have a new Asset Category "Affinity Cats" in your Assets Panel.  The cats, by the way, are the three cat shapes Affinity formerly used.  You can colour them any way you want, or apply a style to them, just the way you would with a Rectangle Shape, an Ellipse Shape, etc.
    Affinity cats.afassets
Here is what a much-populated Assets Panel can look like (personal choice).  Many of these were very generously offered here on the Forums in the Resources section.

    Hi @jmwellborn
Thanks for reaching out. I appreciate the well wishes along with the helpful tips.
I found 'Studio' with no problem. I was also able to locate 'Assets' under 'Windows' as well.
In the left studio, I'm able to get these various categories (within my screenshot) when I choose 'Simply Flat Icons' in that drop-down box above. But, when I choose 'Default' within that drop-down box, Assets do show up right below it, but there are no options/icons available for it at all. Nothing is there.
How do I go about populating 'Assets'? Or is it really necessary?

    Welcome to the forums.
I would hold onto the version 1 for a while (a month or more) simply because files from the new version cannot be opened in the old version. You may need to copy and paste from a new version 2 document into a (new) version 1 document if you are working with someone who only has version 1.

Being in Greece recently for the last two winter months (...well no need to ask it's nicely warmer over there 😉), I saw people there starting very early on November to decorate their gardens, balcons ... etc. for Xmas. - One of the neighbors had in his garden an interesting - sequence blinking rain-fall like lighting - applied outside on his xmas-tree, which looked quite good at nights. This inspired me to try to build some sort of an xmas tree animation from a vector drawing.
I've kept my initial ADe vector drawing as simple as possible, since I didn't wanted to spend overall too much time on it. Thus I just reused one of my latest available silhouette xmas tree assets for the tree drawing etc. ...

... and gave the vector drawing partly just a quick pseudo 3D touch ...

... the more interesting part (at least for me here) is to save/export enough single tree light state images, so I can vary these when creating/stiching some animated GIF or MP4 video together out of the single images. - Here's a quick single one time run (no looping yet) of 14 behind each other state images:

    xmas-tree-meteor-light.mp4
Now I've to play with variations, looping, duplications and timings of images, in order to try out more and different blinking/flow lighting effects! 🤔

@CleanLivin  I just did this in Photo 2, but if you don't have that, then Photo 1 would work the same way.  I don't have a tablet, but I have an occasional tremor in my writing (left) hand, so use my right hand with a mouse.  The "signature" I made for the sample was using a Basic brush with a hard round setting.  I should have worked harder to make it look less wiggly.  You would definitely do better with your tablet.  Here is what I did.
    1.  Open a new document, drag out a rectangle Shape.  Give it a white fill, so it won't disappear on the canvas.
    2.  With the Brush Tool, write your signature in black.
    3.  Change to the Move Tool (black arrow), click on the Layers Panel to highlight the rectangle layer and then on the canvas, reduce the size of the white rectangle layer so that it just
         contains the signature.
    4.  Highlight the signature layer only in the layers panel.  It should be on top of the rectangle layer.
    5.  Export > PNG > Selection only.  You should have your signature in black on a checkerboard background. See the first screenshot below.   Save it with an identifying
         name (i.e. "my signature").

Now when you want to add this to your work, just create a new document (FILE>NEW) with the dimensions you want (sample in the third screenshot shows 14 x 12 inches "my letter*").   I just wanted to show you how you determine the size of your document.    If you don't have rulers on your workspace, click on VIEW on the top menu and be sure that Show Rulers has a checkmark beside it.Then go to FILE>Place and choose the photo that you want to place.  You will get a funny looking icon which doesn't show up on your Tool Panel.  It is used to place the photo.  Just drag with that across your canvas and the image will appear.
Adjust the placement of your photo by using the Move Tool.   When you have your image where you want it, go to FILE>Place again, and locate the signature file you created (steps 1-5.)  Use that funny looking icon again to place the signature on your image.  There will be a blue bounding box around it.  You can use the corners to make your signature larger or smaller.  Click in the middle and you can drag the signature to any place you want over the image. The little blue line at the centre of the top part of the border has a white circle at the top.  If you want to tilt your signature you use that little white circle to do so.
    I hope this helps!

@monzo  I would definitely suggest that you purchase the Universal App from the Affinity website.   My Photo2, Designer2, and Publisher2 are all performing without a hitch or a glitch.  They came from the Affinity website.  And if you do decide to purchase, be sure to keep your V1 on your Mac until you have installed V2.  That way you can choose the option to Migrate Content from V1.
