When the font contains no alternatives/stylistic sets, I think it would be good to put that information in (grey) text rather than be blank and therefore confusing

@GarryP that is not what @A_B_C is asking for - I understood the request quite clearly, and it is an obvious thing to have in place, which I definitely believe should have been there from the beginning.
The request is not to open or close the entire panel, but the individual sections within the panel, all at once.
In other words, clicking the triangle to collapse or expand "Ligatures", "Figure Position", "Capitals", etc. - but instead of just one of them, when a modifier is held down, collapse or expand all of them at the same time.
The idea is that if they are all expanded, you could collapse all of them at once, then expand individually the one you are interested in, without having to go hunt through the expanded sections that might have the one you are looking for scrolled out of view.

A modest suggestion that would improve UX in the present framework: please add Collapse-all and Expand-all by Alt-clicking the section headers inside a panel.
This would at least provide a workaround for many orientation problems in crowded panels and reduce search time.

I would try using Pages to Export to DOCX file format.
And I would do all the formatting in Publisher, after I had done all the writing in Pages, Text Edit, Word or whatever. I would not bother with any formatting in the word processor.

That’s partly because the right-hand vertical stroke on the ‘a’ is indistinct, otherwise you would have read it as ‘Ban is life’. ‘Bah’ is an odd choice, anyway, since it carries a dismissive tone (as in ‘Bah, humbug!’).

For me, the pictures have a bit of the symbolism of the Aborigines and Maori, the indigenous people of Australia and New Zealand.
I could well imagine the pictures as a large mural in a light-flooded loft.

After watching a couple of Ocean documentaries I was deeply intrigued by the endless number of sea creatures that exist. Eventually I got tired watching and got inspired to create this Ocean inspired Deep See art.
    Enjoy.

This is a good move, in fact, I would like to see this in other windows too, specifically the Text Wrap window in Publisher. I use this quite a lot and having to open and close it is quite annoying.

    Seriously?
Serious users are here. Non serious users leave when it doesn't suit their needs. Other non serious users never come here because they use it instead of discussing it. Non users don't come here.

    The real question is though;
Why are there so many people posting nonessential topics and keep on discussing these topics to fill their days.
And by doing so, making it for the (new) user, seeking answers, so difficult.

And boy are there some bone scrapers here. But yes a general chat forum that could be ignored/blocked from the streams by the members, could be the solution.

Since it’s a monospaced font, it follows that the space character will have the same advance width as all the other characters.
Given the context, I’m surprised that the answer isn’t glaringly obvious!

    Thanks Mike
I tried all sorts of workarounds to no avail. Fortunately I still had v2.3.0 download so could back track. v2.3.0 works fine so far. I've had to downgrade Photo & Designer too as Publisher seemed to detect that they were different versions.
Maybe Affinity have been concentrating too much recently on the Canva buyout. I hope Canva keep to their pledges. I remember when Trimble bought Sketchup with similar 'nothing will change' assurances. It wasn't long before they worked to get their outlay back by severely limiting the free version and then moving to a subscription-only model. Like many users, I am an Adobe refugee who has been washed up on the Affinity shores. Let's hope Canva do not go on to create a hostile environment for what are excellent products. If you're not based in the UK you won't get the joke.

In addition to these excellent points, I would also point out that if anyone is working in an area with poor or no internet connectivity, there is no reason to rob them of access to online help simply to add rich video content that is probably not as important as having a quick reference to some less familiar feature they are trying to use.
Some users may also work in an environment where they need to be disconnected from the internet for security reasons and losing access to online help would similarly mean losing access to any kind of help.
I agree that a change to online-only help is a TERRIBLE idea.  PLEASE reconsider.

jmwellborn got a reaction from Rarast in Add colors to palette
Welcome to the Forums!  If your fabric swatches are each a solid color then you can add them to a palette, by first taking a picture of each, transfering it to your computer, then clicking on the Swatches Panel hamburger menu, and choosing Create Palette From Image.  This will permit you to place your image, choose the number of colors, and then click Create.  If you want that swatch/palette to be available for every document you create, choose Application in the next panel that shows the colors (5 are the minimum).

If your fabric swatches contain prints/stripes/etc. you will be far better off to create your swatches as Styles.  In this case, take your picture, then place it in a Photo/Designer/Publisher new document, Export it as a PNG file>Selection Only, then delete the image from your document.  Now drag a rectangle shape onto your canvas (no need to color it) then select your Gradient tool and on the Context Toolbar in the Type box, choose Bitmap.  Locate your saved PNG file, select that; your swatch image will fill the rectangle.  With that layer highlighted, go to the Styles Panel (if you don't have that on your desktop, go up to WINDOW on your Menu bar and be sure that Styles has a checkmark beside it).  Click on the Styles Panel little hamburger icon, and choose Add New Category.  Give it a name, then with that blank category now showing in your Styles panel, and the layer still highlighted, choose Add Style From Selection.  You will now find a little colored icon in that category.
I have attached a video to show how this is done.  Please wait to see the new style icon appear.  The video appears to stop, but the little coloured "beachball" was actually going and it took a bit of time for the new style to appear.   Probably because I didn't bother to create a new category and just let the style go into the v.1.6 default category.

Your fabric swatch can now be used on any shape, or text. Just select the text or shape with the Move Tool and click on the little Styles icon in your category and it will automatically fill your selection.
    I hope this helps!

@smadell I have just tried your macro for the first time.  What fun!  Here is a first stab. No self-respecting owl would ever claim this relative! (Or the one in the old print from the British Library — on the left — for that matter.)
On another subject entirely, would you be willing to share the name of the font you used for your PDF?  I am translating a very long book into English and have been considering Adobe Garamond Pro, but I like yours so much better — it has a cleaner look!

It is a whole load of well known marketing-speak phrases that are pointless.  They are all strung together with no substantive information whatsoever.  I have no idea what LLM is, but this lot were carefully put together manually several decades ago (not by me) as a joke. I first saw it posted on Usenet before www was even born.

It is fun to see how far someone gets reading it before they realize it is a spoof.  To put it is context: start ad the beginning of this thread and work your way though all 48 pages of it.
