  1. This opens up Pandora's box for fiddling with type! The only thing I haven't been able to do is to change fonts after creating the effect. I tried with Black Chancery on both the top and lower text lines, coloured them both, then changed the lower text line to Braganza. That was a dismal flop, as the two colours on the lower text line jumbled together in rather a mess. I then created a new text line and a new curve layer to replace the lower text line and was easily able to flip back and forth between the top line and the lower line, using the Vector Flood Tool to keep the colors the same. The moral of the story is decide on your font first and stick with it. The Vector Flood Tool works like a charm.
  2. I may be exceptionally stupid, but when I tried to use the Shortcuts Serif Defaults and then Shift plus = on the keypad for my Apple extended keyboard, I was sent to ADD. Trying to use the same shortcut again, nothing happened. Shift plus - on the keypad did nothing. I tried this several times. (Shift plus the plus or minus keys on the ABC side of the keyboard did the same thing.) When I opened Preferences>Shortcuts and clicked on Apple defaults, at first I still couldn't make anything work. And then, without my changing anything, it did. I also have found that I can happily scroll through each Blend option while holding the Shift key down, and then clicking the = or - keys. Really nice once one gets the setup sorted out!
  3. I really like the new Brushes Panel with light UI. And having the ability to show the Brush names is Genius!!!! Now if we could just somehow have the Brush selection suggestion from @StuartRc implemented. It would be so nice, when brushes from more than one brush category have been used on a single pixel layer, to be able not only to highlight one brush (as we can now) but to have the Brush Panel switch to that category.
  4. @Chris26 I had been floundering around with this, because I need to do the same thing with a long legal document with several different text styles that will all need to be replaced: all caps Bold, one point size center aligned; section headings Bold, another point size but initial caps, aligned left; subsection headings, yet another point size with initial caps, Bold, aligned left; and the body of the document with initial caps Regular, same point size as subsections, aligned left. But I digress. The draft is set in Arial with a large point size and very wide leading to permit my Committee to comment, cut and paste, etc. before setting the document in final form. Needless to say, Arial isn't going to cut it for the final version, and I was contemplating what to do, rather than to follow your bit-by-bit solution — with which I anguish for you! So here is a very simple and completely workable solution, which I have just tried. It works! 1. Make a Save As of your document, just in case you gum things up the first time with a new name. (I wrecked several trial balloons.) 2. Open the Saved As document. 3. With your Text Tool, highlight a bit of the first text for which you wish to change the font/characteristics, placement, or whatever. 4. Go up to the Context Toolbar and click on the little grey down arrow beside the little box showing the name of your current text style and choose New Style. 5. When that window opens, give your New Style a name. Then in the Based On box, be sure to click the Text Style that you previously used. Also change any parameters such as font size, leading, text characteristics (bold versus semibold, etc.) that you want for your finished product. 6. For each text style (if you have more than one), repeat step 5. This is the fiddly part. 7. Now go to TEXT>Find and the Find and Replace panel should pop up on the left side of your work space. 8. In the Find box, click on the little cog icon and scroll down to Paragraph Style, then drag down through the list of Text Style names until you find the one you created in your original document. 9. In the Replace box, repeat step 8, except you check the new one you created in Step 5. 10. Click on the left FIND box and click on the REPLACE box. 11. BINGO!!!!! You should have a long list of every place where that particular text style is used. Your document should be gloriously corrected in one swoop. Sounds tedious but it really works. And it has saved my groats. Hopefully it will save your future groats too! Screenshots below. Hope this helps.
  5. @Katiestephoto I am not staff, just a user, but on my MAC I am having absolutely no problem with refining selections in Affinity Photo 2. Granted, I am sticking to Big Sur at the moment, rather than the latest MAC OS, because it is so stable. It might help if you could explain what "glitching" means. Also there isn't a refine selection tool, but there are several selection tools: Selection Brush Tool, the Marquee Selection tools, the Flood Select Tool, and the Freehand Selection Tool. Could you narrow down which of these you are using, and possibly explain what the "glitch" is and at what point it occurs?
  6. @catlover since the palettes are now arranged alphabetically, a very simple way to make your Default palette always appear at the top of the list is to rename it: AAA Default. Sort of a clumsy solution, but it would work!🙂
  7. Welcome to the Forums @Patriq. I am just a user, but I am confused. Your topic title says V2 but your signature says you are using MAC OS 10.13.6. The two are not compatible. Have you upgraded your laptop but not your signature?
  8. @masterofninja i have a trusty, rusty “guillotine” known in years of yore as a paper cutter. Not sure it would enjoy trying to do the curve though. As for the suitable sized punch . . . . .
  9. Welcome to the Forums, @masterofninja! Guess we are all set for Christmas 2024! Thank you. I was a bit puzzled at first, but then figured that I'd better color a wee bit of the stroke on one tag just to see what I had there. (Helps with scissors!) Just to be on the safe side, I opened your file in Designer V.1 first. When I opened it very successfully in Designer V2 the lines were beautifully visible without adding any black.
  10. @srg I am completely stumped! I have tried and tried to replicate your issue, but can't. Is there any chance that when this happens you have brushed outside your fill layer onto your initial layer, and that it is a placed image layer and not an opened pixel layer? If so, then the Assistant Manager will provide the popup message that it has rasterised the image layer and you will get a new empty pixel layer. At least it does here on my MAC.
  11. Rats! I will have to regroup, after several appointments today, when I can get back to my desktop. Using my iPad right now. Hopefully another user will figure this out long before I can attempt it! I am so sorry.
  12. @srg That is very strange indeed! Is the Assistant icon on your Toolbar? I had to manually add it with my download of Designer2. Photo2 downloaded with the icon present.
  13. What a spectacular painting! Digital or manual, it is remarkable.
  14. @zeeloop Wonderful! I am such a happy user of the Affinity apps, and MACS too, and when I spotted your message just now, I really wanted to be sure that you are happily up and running! Isn't "interface" a pain? I used Migration Assistant to copy from my iMac to my Macbook Pro, and then had to delete a ton of stuff in order to save some storage space. Now I am keeping my Macbook Pro on V1 for the time being, until I have everything 2-ish sorted out. At that point, I will just do a fresh download of each of the V2's from the Affinity Store, and also wrestle with the settings. Happy New Year!
  15. Welcome to the Forums @Affinity_Pro You can definitely attach the crash reports to a post here. Also, may I suggest that with so many people posting since the arrival of V2, your post is far more likely to be seen if you will give the title of your topic a more descriptive name? I hope you will be able to resolve your issue quite soon, and am sorry that it has been "lost in the shuffle" with so many thousands of new postings in the last five weeks!
  16. @piter2039 Welcome to the Forums! Are you on Windows or Mac? If possible, could you provide a video to demonstrate this issue?
  17. @zeeloop Did you solve this? I have used Migration Assistant, but am sure that there are other wiser souls who might have another way to do this. I hope that bumping your posting may attract the attention of those who know more about delving into the depths of computers!
  18. @R C-R Just giving this a bump so that more recent Forum members will see it. Happy New Year!
  19. @Lloyd McFarlin Have you been able to resolve this issue? I see that it was posted in Desktop Questions. If you still have the issue, could you post in the Forum section, Customer Service, Accounts and Purchasing? I know they have been completely swamped, but someone should be able to help you there.
  20. @johndapps I just happened to find your post here. I hope you are enjoying AP 2.0.3 as much as I am. Happy New Year!
  21. @andren Oh my! This is one for the experts! There have been so many postings that your very interesting topic has somehow been missed. I am bumping it up hoping that some of the extremely talented people who use Photo every day will see it and offer some useful solutions. Beautiful images!!
  22. Welcome to the Forums @LZ777. I have just come across your post and have tested this out. I have made a short video to show what I have found. If you place text on top of a shape and then select both the text layer and the shape layer, and group, and then OPEN THE GROUP and click on the text and shape layers and then Convert to Curves, you will be able to easily work on the text. On the other hand, if you place the text, select both text and shape layers, and group, and then CLICK ON THE CLOSED GROUP and Convert to Curves, you will get an unworkable result. Was this your issue? Screen Recording 2023-01-12 at 13.42.06.mov
  23. @edigrafie I have just spotted your solution. It would be nice if you would edit your topic title by adding (Solved) so that it would be posted again in the Desktop section of the Forums. I am sure others would be very glad to know how you solved this issue and it seems to have been lost in the massive number of postings that have been made since the introduction of V2!. Best wishes for the New Year!
