Thanks jmwellborn, I was just wondering if that (pdf's) was a way to work around it, I will definitely give it a try, will buy Publisher in a few months ahead. I have InDesign on an older iMac, but could never agree to Adobes newer subscription system.
| also kept my older iMac with InDesign CS-6 on it, just in case I needed anything not yet PDF’d. Recently I cranked it up and opened InDesign. UGH! I am reminded now that actually I always hated it. So clunky, compared with the satiny smooth Publisher, Photo, and Designer.

@CPC What a nice discovery!

@Stella HB Just a small suggestion. “buried” not “berried.” It is the old editorial publisher in me.

I've got loads of old InDesign documents (Mac) that I made years ago, and want to know if Publisher can open these? Or if it can import them so I can continue and update them in Publisher. I was hoping this should work as Affinity Photo opens Photoshop documents. I couldn't find any information about it on the website. Thanks in advance for any help, Robert
In the interim, if you still have an active version of InDesign, you could export your old files as PDFs. You can then import the PDFs into Affinity Publisher, where you can definitely edit them. It takes a bit of preliminary work to get rid of various and sundry quirks, but it is absolutely worth it in my opinion. I have already reworked a few 300-500 page books in Publisher and love it. Dratted if I was going to pay a monthly toll to access my own books!! I hope you will give Publisher a try.

I’ll need you to look over the kids book I’m writing (again and again and again and again, one day I’ll get there I promised).

Hi. Don’t know if you are serious, but it would be an honor. I am so glad you are writing a children’s book!!! Your little eejits are truly inspired and the stuff of childrens’ imaginations. There is so much awful message-drivel written these days to wrench childrens’ minds from “once upon a time” to “inclusive” “PC” and “issues.” We need many more eejits and Winnie THER Poohs.
Thank you for not minding my doggerels!

Wrapping with picture frames works for me.

Hi @eejits. Couldn't resist this little chap.
A Spoonfoolium’s Lament
Don’t they know that I hate beets?

I much prefer stirring sweets

Hi Support
I can't seem to enable show text ruler.
It is clicked to on but does not appear when I click above my text having highlighted it and selected text frame tool and then the show text ruler tab.
Can you please enlighten me.
Many thanks
Martin
This seems to be an erratic problem. I have experienced this too, and have found that if I save the file, close Publisher, and then restart and open the file, the text ruler will appear after I select the text frame tool, and either click into existing text, or place a new text frame. On another subject, various people have suggested in these forums that we should not put our email addresses in our comments for fear of spammers. Probably a very good idea. You might consider editing your entry above to remove yours to be on the safe side!

Really nice! Thank you so much.

Hi @toltec. Just got around to this, in my peregrinations learning Photo and Designer. I like your method best. Works like a charm. Thank you so much. It is amazing the things one can do if one has a clue!!

@EdK Definitely better, I think!

@EdK When I am attempting to learn something new from written information, it is always easiest for me to progress from the simplest to the most complicated. When I first started with Photo, "personas" was the great mind-boggler. Personally, were I using your book, I would put pages 18-19 before 12-13 so that I had an inkling what the sundry Personas are meant to do before I was stunned by all of the details for each. After pp. 6-7 "Workspace Overview" I would (personally) put p. 22-25 "Workspace Customization.
Last, I searched for Menu>Edit>Preferences which is noted on page 22 and cannot find it. Did you mean "Affinity Photo>Preferences"?
It is a Herculean job. Hooray for Publisher!

You can’t do this in Designer or Publisher (as of time of writing) but in Photo you have quite a few options.
Search the Tutorials section of this forum or do a web search for “affinity photo mesh” to get started.I did a web search and got the Affinity Photo Help which discusses the "Mesh Panel." No such panel! Haven't used the Mesh Warp Tool before, but I found that if you rasterize the group that you want to warp (i.e. @Larry3d's flames) then click on the Mesh Warp Tool, then use the Convert to Curves option in the Context Toolbar, you can very nicely wiggle the selection around to accomplish what Larry3d wants. (I used a simple rectangle.) Which, is of course, what you had in mind! Neat trick!

Thanks for the help. Most appears to be well now with two exceptions:
1) I cannot get text wrap settings to stick, neither Synchronize nor Save appear to work.
2) The footnote feature of PagePlus appears to have vanished.

Hi Jim! Used to live in Sunny San Diego (La Jolla) myself! Miss the ocean and the sound of the Point Loma lighthouse on nights when the breeze was just right. Anyway. The text wrap settings unfortunately cannot be synchronized and saved, even though Publisher HELP has stated that they can. I have tried again recently and have posted this in the Publisher Bugs Forum. For the present, each time you place an image you have to start from NONE. It is a pain, but at least the wrap works beautifully!

Hello
Stuck on what seems a simple issue.
I would like to put an X into an inverted triangular outline, similar to a "superhero" type emblem.
I can not squish the bottom of the X so it will fit within the inverted triangle. ie the base of the X is narrower than the apex..
I have tried to write the X using frame text and artistic text.
Neither enables me to perform this transformation.
How do I do this in AD please?
I have tried to look around for an answer here but did not find anything..
Thanks in anticipation
Richard
Have you tried using the Artistic Text Tool, creating the X, then with it highlighted selecting Convert to Curves? Then drag the X on top of the inverted triangle. At that point and with the x still highlighted, you can use the Node Tool to skew/shrink/whatever the various points of your X to fit your inverted triangle.

Thank you JMW - My poser is: how do you ascertain your fav. when you cannot see them without opening them?
That is the $64,000.00 question! Why not load around 20 — or some other handy number — one by one and then view them to see which ones you really like and think you will use regularly, and then write down the file names. Repeat umptyump times! 2,000 is going to be one big chore, no matter what!

Just got Affinity and have 2000+ LUTs.
How do you upload these in a quick manner to have access to them and assess the impact on images taken?
And if I remember correctly, when another person asked this question a few days ago, the response was that a) you have to load each one separately, and b) you will get the spinning beach ball for a very long time when you open the app, because it will be working away to load those 2,000 LUTs. I believe the recommendation was to load a few of your favorites.

Hi jmwellborn,
I don’t think anything has changed with the auto-updater. I uploaded the auto-update patches around 4:15 (BST) - I don’t know how that fits in with your timing. A quick test run just after uploading worked as expected for me - I suppose best to just say let us know if you experience problems again.
I ran the update 3 hours after the notice was posted on the Forums yesterday. That was around 1 PM US eastern standard time. Previously I have usually updated around 6 hours after posting, or when I happen upon the notice. Next time I will simply wait a bit longer. In this case the early bird didn’t quite get the worm! Glad it wasn’t a bug.

Yes it is but maybe I wasn't scrubbing over the image enough. I'm getting better results doing that. Thanks.
I may be really stupid and this may not be of any help, but I also thought I once had a problem with the Inpainting Brush tool, until I discovered that the brush itself had been changed to something lovely and wispy from another Brush category which I had been using for something else. When I selected the Inpainting Brush tool and then went to the Brushes Panel, and chose a Basic, Round brush, I was off to the races and didn't need to "scrub" the image at all.

Editorial solution. If Molly means “interred” then she should have the option to spell berried correctly, as she may possibly be unamused when she is 20 or 21 and reading her first published poem. On the other hand, if she means “berried” as in @Alfred‘s and @firstdefence‘s rowan tree, then she should be printed as composed because she is undoubtedly a budding philosopher. Personally, I vote for interred, as in “squished into cold hard ground.”
