  1. Welcome to the Forums, @reifygfx. 😊 the three books are identical in size. Top to bottom 9-3/16” (high). Edge of spine to front opening edge 8-1/8” (width). Spine 1-3/16” wide. Allow 4” wide shelf space for all three books to stand side by side, 9-3/16” high. Hope this helps with your bookshelf!
  2. Good point. Hopefully @T Kitto will try out Font Manager while testing Publisher. And of course it would be a good idea to check on the fonts used in the PDF to be sure about compatibility.
  3. Welcome to the Forums, @T Kitto😊 If I have understood your question correctly, the answer is yes. As a test, I opened a PDF in Publisher, used the settings shown below, and then put a picture frame above my text frame and placed an image. (I did not create a bleed, so you will see a tiny bit of white in the screenshot below.) I then exported the test page back as a PDF, and printed the result. There was no pixellation of the type at all. (The screenshot of the test page is a bit fuzzy, but the printed page is beautifully crisp. And please forgive the baby lions -- they have nothing whatsoever to do with 1781 and the British Army!) I hope this will help you and I agree with @wonderings that you will be happiest if you try the free trial version of Publisher as you decide.
  4. Welcome to the Forums @aytiworks 😊 Each app -- Photo, Designer, or Publisher -- requires a one time payment for any version in the 1.+ series for whichever operating system you wish - Mac or PC. Any files generated by these apps can be opened with either Mac or Windows. We are now in the version 1.8* series for each app with a release update version 1.9 coming soon. There could possibly be update versions 1.10, 1.11 etc. Each update in the 1.+ series is downloadable without additional charge. When Serif does issue Version 2 of each app (which could be some time in the future) they will be brand new products rather than updates, and we will be required to purchase any or all of them if we wish. But we would still be able to use our versions in the 1.+ series if we do not wish for the capabilities that the new apps will contain. I hope this will help you!
  5. @Anticosti I have just looked in the Forum section Frequently Asked Questions and have found this better information for you. "In order to change your Affinity Store License from macOS to Windows, or vice-versa, you will need to contact the Affinity Orders department within your 14-day Money Back Guarantee and request this to be changed providing your Affinity Order Number. Depending on the circumstances and whether or not you are eligible, we will look into amending the license(s) for you. Please contact affinityorders@serif.com for help regarding this issue." This should get you sorted properly! Glad to have been able to help!
  6. Welcome to the Forums @Anticosti. You may wish to send an email directly to Serif with this information. I am sure that they will be able to help you. Here is what they have posted on this website: "To contact our Customer Service Team online, Affinity customers can email affinity@serif.com. We will aim to get back to you within 1 working day." Once you are up and running with the correct version for your device, I am sure you will be up and running in no time and loving Designer as much as I do! Hope this will help.
  7. “Who, what, when, where, and why in 500 words or less”. Word counts are very useful when writing manuscripts, and line counts also, when considering the final page count of a proposed document (x-number of lines per page). Writing directly in Publisher rather than importing from somewhere else is already really easy. The counts would be very nice as well.🤔
  8. My Account is working perfectly here. Really nice feature!!!! Rather strangely, the Beta DAUB Watercolors and Washes has downloaded as three separate categories of brushes on my Mac (High Sierra), with many more brushes total than the single pack I purchased originally. I have compared the two downloads -- the original which I copied over several weeks ago from v. 1.8.4, using Migration Assistant, to my Macbook using Big Sur and the M1 chip, and the version in Beta 1.9.0.215, which I downloaded today. I also tried to download the Luminance Pack to my Mac, through Incompatible Bundles, but it would not permit it. Possibly redundant comment. Hope this helps?
  9. Welcome to the Forums @Hansolo😊 I also have the new Macbook with the M1 chip, and am having a lot of fun with all three Affinities - Photo, Designer, and Publisher. I thought these apps were fast on my iMac with an Intel chip, but now -- Talk about SPEED! Hopefully you have also discovered Photo and Publisher. If not, you might possibly not know that there is a special offer for a 90-day free trial of each app, and a 50% discount in their purchase price. You could look at the Forum section News and Information>We want to help (again) for more details. I used Adobe for years and after spending approximately $700.00 on upgrading from the last $500.00-or-so-upgrade of Pagemaker to InDesign, was infuriated when I was informed that I could now rent the software per month at a handsome sum for the privilege of accessing my own files (including several 400-500 page books I had written). When I found Affinity I knew that I was in the right place the moment I watched the first online video tutorial. After the gentleman carefully explained the issue (don't remember the first one I watched) he said "Thank you for watching." That's it! I thought. Professional, thorough, and so courteous. I have never looked back. I am sure you will soon be contributing to the Share Your Work section of these Forums!!
  10. Hello @rbkv If you would perhaps look at the link @Pšenda provided, you would see that he is referring you to one of the forum rules that Serif asks of us all to only suggest one issue per post. In this topic stream you are now up to 5 -- each unrelated to the others. This makes it very difficult for Affinity developers to sort out any further comments that might be posted here for issue 1, issue 2, issue 3, issue 4, or issue 5. You of course do not know it, but @Pšenda has been a very respected, and extremely helpful user of Affinity products since at least 2017. He is most certainly not a spammer. I know that in this era of Covid-19 lockdowns and all of its disruptions we are all a bit on edge, and understandably a little impatient. Hopefully as you learn Photo over the next few weeks you will be as delighted that you have made the switch from Adobe as I am. I used their products and precursors for 32 years and send my thanks to the heavens every day for Affinity Photo, Designer, and Publisher. And their developers are only getting started!!! 😊
  11. Welcome to the Forums @Furryclure 🙂. As long as your new computer is a Mac if you currently own a Mac, or a PC if you currently use Windows, then you will be able to download Publisher again without charge to the new device as long as it is still for personal use. If you are currently using Windows but plan to go to an Apple product (or vice versa) then you would have to buy a new version of Publisher for the new device. Publisher has seperate versions for Windows and Mac. Hope this helps!
  12. For everybody now using Mac Big Sur with the M1 chip and Affinity v. 1.8.6, and who have expressed an interest in these plugins, thought you would like to know that they are now fully compatible with Affinity Photo. I have just downloaded the updates for the JixiPix plugins Watercolor Studio, Impresso Pro, and Pastello Pro. The plugins work seamlessly now with Photo and the M1 chip. Hopefully other developers will not be far behind! (Pity I didn't deal with the unnecessary white canvas before I chucked the original. G'r'r'r.)
  13. @Robin Gurney Just in case the retail build for 1.9 is not ready in time for your next issue, why not keep the Beta, but create your issue using v. 1.8.6, save it, open it again using the Beta and do the export. Since anything created in the Beta may not be backwards compatible, if you have any glitches you would have to start all over again. Glad to know about this workaround!😊
  14. @stranded Don't know about Windows, but I originally bought my Photo from the Mac app store. Then I bought Publisher and Designer from the Serif store. The difference was so notable that I deleted the Mac app store version of Photo and bought it all over again from the Serif store. The beauty of having one's purchases all from the Serif store will evidently be really obvious (so it seems) when retail v. 1.9 is available. It is going to be a major asset to have all our purchases on file in one location for rapid download and installation in other devices we may buy with the same operating system. At least that is what I THINK I am reading! Also, whenever there is an update we are automatically notified, rather than having to go searching for it. Same price, but whopping advantages in my book!
  15. Great @risingkirin😀 Guess sagging on a folding chair at ground level rather than rubbing elbows with the newly anointed several stories up at the Capitol -- suitably socially distanced from all of his chums -- isn't what a Senator from Vermont had in mind when he campaigned for President. This is no doubt what the new "unity" looks like. 😒😷 Love it!
  16. Welcome to the Forums @hyggli😊. As long as these devices are all for your personal use and use the same operating system you should be able to download the app to each device with a single licence.
  17. Welcome to the Forums @Bobnc21 😊 Although you would need two separate apps because of two different operating systems, you will be able to share .afphoto files generated on either device with the other. With the current 50% discount announced by Affinity today, you will still be able to install the two separate apps for the price of a single one, a few days ago. Not perfect, but close!!!
  18. Welcome to the Forums! If you will go to the Search box at the top of this Forum and enter Font preview doesn’t work since 1.8 you will find a discussion of this issue and a suggestion if you are using Designer. Hope that this helps!
  19. I am afraid that you have misinterpreted my comment to mean that I am a member of the Serif/Affinity company family. I admire them very much but am simply an extremely happy customer. Just as I am a very happy customer for all things Apple. Recently I purchased a new Macbook and iPad and had to wait for a few weeks longer than originally stated -- not only for deliveries but for the iPad turn-in rebate on my credit card. Covid is affecting everybody. I wish you and your company well in these very difficult times for us all. 🙂
  20. Late shipping is not isolated to Serif! Here in the USA simple Christmas cards I mailed a distance of 650 miles this year took 19 days instead of 2. Package deliveries promised as “overnight” can still take 4 days even after the Christmas season. A large office item I ordered from a major corporation (for which I was billed immediately and charged to my credit card) was promised as “overnight” delivery. The item not only took 11 days, but was first delivered to a complete stranger on the other side of the country (3,000 miles away). I was promised “free shipping” and then was charged shipping for the replacement. This international virus-thing has caused problems left and right for everybody. The workbooks are excellent, and when they do arrive I hope you will enjoy using them as much as I have enjoyed mine. In the meantime, we can only try to be forgiving for so much that isn’t proceeding as smoothly as in other times before this virus.😷🙂
  21. Welcome to the Forums @lastkarol ☺️ I don't use Windows, but could you check your Photo and Designer Preferences for the User Interface, and see whether you possibly have UI Style Dark highlighted? Hope this might help.
  22. A'h'h'h'h. Couldn't resist. Unfortunately, I don't have the copyright part of the image. But it was definitely copyrighted!!
  23. a.m.a - I have responded to your other question in the Forum : Customer Service, Accounts . . . just now. I understand that version 2 will not be "an upgrade" but a new product. In the past Affinity has offered special discounts on several occasions. Whether they will for version 2 is surely a premature question, but if I were a betting person, I would think that current owners of the three apps would probably receive a limited time offer. Meanwhile, the apparent difference between buying from the app store (either Microsoft or Apple) or online directly from Affinity (which I have done) is the ease of updating. If purchased directly from Affinity, one automatically receives notices of available updates. One also has a permanent record of all purchases, and Product Keys, which makes it much easier to download again, if installing one of the apps on a second device (using identical operating systems). I gather that buying from either app store requires one to check for updates. Probably an oversimplification. I hope this helps you!
  24. Welcome to the Forums! Affinity is still in the Beta stage of v. 1.9. We have not been told when it will be issued, but it is certainly due as a major update before anything else is released. Don't know where you read that v. 1.8 is "the last version," but that certainly cannot be true. It has been noted over and over in these Forums that as long as we are on version 1.x each update for each app will be free, once one has made the initial purchase. It has also been noted frequently, that when v. 2.x does become available (and no-one knows when that will be) v. 2.x will be a new product and will need to be purchased by all of us. If you are really interested in these wonderful apps, it would probably be just as well to go ahead and buy them (or any one of the three -- Photo, Designer, or Publisher) that you are interested in. Don't forget that you can download a free trial version to help make up your mind. I see that you have posted this identical question in "Desktop Questions... " as well. The answer would be the same. Also, @Patrick Connor if there is some way to edit this person's user name to eliminate the punctuation mark it would help. I could not figure out how to input anything that would make it possible to duplicate it here -- making it hard for the person to quickly find a response to the question posed here.
