  1. I do a lot of package design and use Affinity Designer for it. These Packages are normally full of small text boxes and a Hyphenation feature is absolutely necessary for this type of work. And I believe Designer was made and is perfect for this kind of work. I find it very unreasonable to aregue that somebody should buy Publisher just to get the Hyphenation feature... I know, it's an old thread but I think its always good to keep hoping :).
  2. Yes sure. It's a whole catalogue but I extracted one page so you can have a look and see if you can reproduce the error. It seems already that it has something to do with the font. I use the App "Fontbase" to activate the fonts in the System. If I don't activate the font and Affinity loads a default font like Arial or so, these error messages do not appear. 3. I'm not sure if I have the same problem, but it seems similar or perhaps reated, so I post it here. I just made the switch from Mac to Windows. Opening an Affinity Publisher document in Windows gave me lots of Missing Characters error messages in Preflight. Thesse errors did not appear on the Mac version. As you can see in the screenshots, many accents are misplaced. When i edit the words manually (to correct them), it seems that the accents have been placed as ia separate symbol, meaning that I have to hit delete twice in order to delete the letter and the accent. I am useing: Windows: 10Pro: Affinity Publisher 1.8.3.641 Mac OS Morjave (10.14.4): Affinity Publisher 1.8.3
  4. Hi there, I've created a series of labels done 100% done with Affinity Designer (layout, illustrations and text). Affnity Desiger has become one of my favourite tools for its speed and simplicity. The product is a Marmelade sweetened with honey (no sugar) and is already on the market. Below is a little promotional folder done in Affinity Publisher. I already love this program and finally a real photo of the product! Have fun
  5. When you purchase Publisher, you also get Designer and Photo, yes! And all integrated... One Ring to rule them all.
  6. Hi Meb, i found this post and tried your suggestion, but for me the command has no effect whatsoever. See the attached image: I've tried to simplify a worldmap vector. Selected all > clicked on smooth curve = result remains the same. In fact, if i overlay the images, the curves are identical from the first to the second step. It would be very cool (and necessary) to improve this funcionality. Cheers!
  7. This was supposed to be Cmd+Alt+Shift+S in the headline! Getting confused with Photoshop :)
  8. Photoshop introduced this weird shortcut (Cmd+Alt+Shift+S), to access the "save for web" feature. And later introduced the Cmd+Alt+Shift+W shortcut, to export image files. I use this shortcut sometimes hundreds of times during a day (tweak, save, test, tweak, save test etc.), and I always wondered why they chose such an awkward shortcut for a frequent task like saving! I guess it was, because the save for web feature was introduced when all of the common shortcuts were occupied already. I think inDesign is much better in this respect using just a logic Cmd+E, and then presenting the user with the complete export options. Also, once you introduce Affinity publisher, will you go for Cmd+Alt+Shift+W there as well? or have different shortcuts between apps? I know that shortcuts are customizable, still i would be very happy if Affinity would make things easier, instead of copying Adobe where they have failed. Cmd+Alt+Shift+W just makes no sense to me, these kind of combinations should be used for your custom shortcuts. Ok, much text for a minor thing, still worth a consideration imo. Simplifying the apple way, is always a good thing, i think! :) Cheers.
  9. Hm, something is really strange there... i've reconstructed the hexagons, this time so they look good when the outline is applied to the outside of the shape. But when I export as a pdf, this time the outline is being drawn to the INSIDE of the shape :D. The same remains if i change to outside, inside or middle position of the stroke.
  10. Hello Matt, thanks for your help. No, the lines are not too thin imo. 2pt to be exact. I guess its a pretty normal value. When i expand the stroke, i get the same error 00Ghz is mentioning. I'll try to reconstruct the rounded hexagons with the new "round corner" option that has been integrated into affinity (which is absolutely great btw!). I'll see if the same error remains. I did them in illustrator and imported them into affinity before this functionality was available.
  11. I guess i've got a similar issue, but when I export to a pdf. I created some forms that have an outline stroke "inside". When i export the document the form is saved with the stroke outside. I've just tried the last beta, and the same error happens. I previous versions it worked fine! I've tried to convert the forms to paths... Is there a way to get rid of the outline altogether and convert everything to forms like in Illustrator? I think its called "convert" or expand appearance or similar. Here an image, that explains the behavior better:
