    Hi,

Was just finishing for the day, on a Tornado I've been working on. Pressed save and then my hand touched a few keys, (had a couple of Gins; as you do), and the image changed to this. Don't have a clue what I did, but quite happy with the result, and would like to replicate it if it's a known feature! If not, a one off is good. Any help appreciated!

    Thanks.

Canva is a subscription model, as Serif inform us themselves. So much for the 'No Subscriptions' tagline. We'll be 'allowed' to keep our current version, then from the next 0.1 revision we'll be offered a discount.

The writing is on the wall. Serif have sold out.

Oh well. It was fun whilst it lasted. As soon as you become a £100 a year subscription service (which you will), I'll just go back to Adobe.

I love you guys, and I have a big load of respect about you, being a big evangelist of Affinity, but I'm not having a good felling on this. Canva is not what I could name a "professional software" partner. They want to be Adobe, not an adobe alternative.
The first insinuation of subscription model will break any trust on Affinity, and for the love of the goddess, I hope Affinity apps don't become a dumpster of stupid and crappy AI and cheap design tools that Canva really is.
I've read the FAQs you published… they don't give me enough reassessment that nothing is gonna change. Your company and your project is not yours anymore.
    I wish to be wrong.

As an Affinity Serif user myself (you could say I'm a disciple of sorts), first and foremost, I tip my hat and congratulate the Affinity team for the outstanding work that they've done over the last decade or so with the release of the Affinity Apps. Bravo.

Back in the day, with the release of Affinity’s products, it was a breath of fresh air to finally see a company standing up for the little guys (aspiring and amateur designers, small design agencies, poor students, etc.), protecting and keeping us away from the claws of the money-hoarding, creatively bankrupt septic tank known as Adobe. It’s clear that Adobe wanted to monopolize the entire digital creative environment, making it ONLY available to the rich or those willing (but really forced) into possibly bankrupting themselves in order to use their overloaded, bloated products/services to make any sort of liveable wage.
With the worldwide explosion of A.I. and its adaption and implementation into every facet of society, right down to creative thinking and its processes that are used to bring imagination into reality, it will require more and more money to be pumped into Affinity Serif and their wannabe globalist corporation in Canva, to help them keep up with their creative competitor in the form of the creative anti-Christ of Adobe.
With the obvious implementation of A.I. into future Affinity products to keep those products relevant and competitive within the creative apps/platform market, this will require more 'Data Centers and Servers' to be built and upgraded over time by Canva/Affinity, as the substantial amounts of energy needed to operate the servers and significant volumes of water needed to cool them will only increase over time, meaning that Canva/Affinity will need a steady supply of cash, which will require more and more outside investors who will want to make sure they are getting a good return. Steady supply of money + good return = subscription plans. If it works for Adobe, they will argue, why not us?
With the acquisition of Affinity Serif by Canva, short-term this will elevate Affinity products (in the eyes of the current customers) with new and exciting addons to the Affinity products, but long-term, I think Affinity have buried their company, for when Canva insists on the need for some sort of subscription plan, to keep everything a float and everyone (investors) happy, I can see lots of your current Affinity customers jumping ship to the likes of free open source platforms like GIMP and Blender. Regardless of the initial promises that Canva has made, everybody can see that the writing is already on the wall. Just give it five years (if the Russians and Americans haven’t already nuked us into oblivion by then) and all the great work that the Affinity team has done, all the great will and backing from the little guys that’s Affinity has stood up for, will be undone, but at least they'll be able to hide behind Canva and point the finger at them when the time comes.

    Hi All,

I am thrilled to announce that Affinity is joining the Canva family.
This is a moment of great excitement, anticipation, and profound gratitude for all of you who have been part of our story so far.
We know that those of you who’ve put your faith in Affinity, some since we launched our very first Mac app, will have questions about what this means for the future of our products. Since the inception of Affinity, our mission has been to empower creatives with tools that unleash their full potential, fostering a community where innovation and artistry flourish. We've worked tirelessly to challenge the status quo, delivering professional-grade creative software that is both accessible and affordable.
    None of that changes today.
In Canva, we’ve found a kindred spirit who can help us take Affinity to new levels. Their extra resources will mean we can deliver much more, much faster. Beyond that, we can forge new horizons for Affinity products, opening up a world of possibilities which previously would never have been achievable.
Canva’s revolutionary approach to design democratisation and commitment to empowering everyone to create aligns perfectly with our core values and vision. This union is a testament to what can be achieved when two companies that share a common goal of making design accessible and enjoyable for everyone come together.
I want to express my deepest gratitude to our incredible Affinity team. Your passion, dedication, and relentless pursuit of excellence have been the driving force behind our success so far, and I can’t wait to continue this journey with you all.
To our loyal users and the creative community, your support and feedback have been invaluable. You’ve inspired us to push boundaries and continuously improve, and we’re excited to embark on this new chapter together.
The future is bright, and I am incredibly excited to continue our story together and create a world where design is within everyone's reach.
    With heartfelt thanks,
    Ash

I saw a story about terraforming another planet for humans to live on. It was a very interesting story, but I think it is not possible in the near future. Because there are too many variables and humans are too weak. This time, I tried to express that kind of thinking.

This design was created using Affinity Designer and Photo. Ehh the color and quality loss after uploading is painful and have had similar results on Pinterest. Anyway, Batman the Ride is one of the greatest coasters ever and had visited Six Flags over Texas and Great America last fall. There was no cool merch for the ride anywhere, so wanted to try and create something to do the ride justice. I created the outline using the pen tool in Designer with some vector fills to block in certain areas. I then imported the file into Affinity Photo and started coloring and adding detail with various brushes. I've had good results with the Nathan Brown brush packs. Thanks to Affinity for creating this great program, I will never go back to Adobe again. I WAS NOT commissioned by DC or Six flags to create this art.

Hi all, I thought I'd give myself a quick project to explore Affinity's Shape tools and make a series of images.
I've made some fish like creatures, but other themes could easily used, like monsters, faces etc. I was thinking this idea could help new users learn about the Shape tools and generally have some creative fun.
When I get a few spare moments, my intention is to further embellish each shape with colours, different fills, backgrounds, text etc

Note: the bitmap fill is from The Shizzle Style and Brush Pack (Grizzle 1), the paper texture is from True Grit Texture Supply (Folio-Vellum) and additional line shading is from Artifex Forge's Vintage Engraved Patterns (Pattern 6). Yes, I have splashed out on the Spring Sale offers!

    Hi there 👋
This time I tried to recreate my old work with Blender. The challenge was not to use 3D programs, but only free images and AP of course!
In the attachment, I have put the images used and also the Affinity Designer brush that I created to make the chain.
To use it in AP create a curve in AD, assign the brush to it as a Stroke, and copy and paste in AF.
From here you can change the chain's shape and thickness from the control panel - I haven't figured out how to create it directly in AF yet... 🤔
    I hope you like it!
    Ciao e grazie

    Hi @dannyg9:
thats funny. I started with Quark in the 1990ies then switched to Indesign and since 5 Years I worked arround with AP.
If you know all the DTP-Software so it's no a problem to switch to AP. The workarrounds are more or less the same. If you work with stiles, masterpages and know how to make printable PDF’s, there is no big challenge to do it in AP.
Only the PDF-preflight without AcrobatPro (and/or PlugIns) can be/is a fight! I hope Affinity give us a tool to proof our Print-PDF’s.
Thank You for the kind words about my Magazin-Design.

Here I'll show you an architecture magazine that I design annually with Affinity Publisher and oversee the printing and production.

In the beginning the magazine was created in Indesign. After I got out of the Adobe subscription, I adapted it in Publisher and now designed it in AP for the fourth time.
At the beginning there were problems with embedded customer PDFs; these were not passed through but were always somehow interpreted and therefore incorrect.
Since ver. 2 this has been a thing of the past.
You can view the entire magazine as a digital edition here. Have fun!

I was going to say that I am fairly new to the Affinity Suite but thinking back, I guess that I started in 2019. I have used all three extensively since I found them. I am another one who moved away from Adobe after many years, which I started when it was creative suite 3 and I upgraded and subscribed all the way along.
I use Affinity just for fun now, since I have retired, but I still find much joy in being creative. I typically use Affinity to create images and whatnot for use in my 3D projects, as image wraps, and the like. I'll share two projects that share some assets.
The first is my sardine can. I created this after I spent time drawing a clip art fish as a challenge to myself. I did borrow two assets from Pixaby - the tomatoes and the sailing ship.
The second is my three fishes pub sign, also created in Affinity Designer.
I sure am glad that I happened across the Affinity products.
BTW, I am just posting to share my work and sort of introduce myself. I am not looking for critiques.
