firstdefence reacted to thomaso in Ignoring topics in forum
According to the forum of the forum software developers it doesn't work as you expect. But there appears to be a plug-in which seems to hide everything related to a member:

The reason they suggest another browser is you may have a plugin/extension that may be blocking the process or there may be a configuration that is causing an issue, they are not saying they cannot handle Firefox they are just trying to help you figure out why you cannot process a payment. You can quite easily install a vanilla alternative browser go through the purchase and uninstall it later.
Really!! that's ugly behaviour dude, remember there are two parties at play here, You and Affinity, they have no access to your system, or knowledge of how you have set it up, for the majority of people their payment system works, the only variable is you. Who loses out on this transaction... Affinity because you go off and tell people about your bad experience; and I think some of that is self-made, and you, because you don't get Affinity.
I agree with not buying from Micrapsoft store though

Notes are a much requested feature but notes doesn't exist... yet!

Marcel needs to be a bit clearer in his details, but I assumed it was Affinity Designer 2 as well as Affinity Photo 2, lets hope Marcel has a universal licence eh!

Can you please post a document with some of this text. We are just going to keep going around guessing. One of your screenshots shows what could be Non Breaking spaces in the text.

firstdefence reacted to Old Bruce in Seeking to hire help to export to KDP
The preset by default does not include Bleed. So when you change that item the rest of the preset settings are the same with that one exception. Perhaps save a Preset called KDP preset version 1 and then you can recall that easily.

firstdefence got a reaction from Row13 in Seeking to hire help to export to KDP
PDF/X-1a is recommended by KDP, see this export setting information: https://kdp.amazon.com/en_US/help/topic/G202145060#pdf
Third note is a given but obviously people have uploaded manuscripts with watermarks and logos so they are covering all bases.
With regard to V1 tutorials, other than UI differences export will be the same in V2

firstdefence got a reaction from loukash in affinity for macOS
Wow! how to cut away a portion of your market and alienate its users.
I'll assume you have a 2011 mac. There are ways to get Catalina onto an unsupported Mac using a patcher: https://dosdude1.com/catalina/ if you are good at technical IT its possible but a better option would be to look at buying a 2012/13 mac these will take OS X Catalina then you can get V2 and sell the old mac.

firstdefence reacted to kenmcd in A way to display the fallback font?
@RayMK
You can open the Designer file in APub and then you can use the Font Manager as @firstdefence described above.
And you can always do an Export to PDF, and then check what fonts are embedded in the PDF.

I strongly anticipate that it will eventually happen. It just makes sense, now that the apps can already open and interpret CAD formats. 🤞

firstdefence reacted to v_kyr in FAT binaries are wasted disk space ...
NO, it's easy too if you know how to do and deal with it. The main tool therefor is "lipo" and that's what most other utility stripping GUI apps call internally here then. There are actually some by people created MacOS apps like that "XSlimmer" and I have for my personal purposes too written my own auxilliary progs which can do so.

I agree, would be a major plus for Affinity.

Oh, I certainly hope so! I mean, it's nice to be able to quickly measure a line – but it would be handy if you could add more and maybe, have them stay on the screen or even make them convertable. Maybe they could even add angle and radius measuring tools, that would be so great! 🤞

Welcome to the forum @joelbcornette
Affinity doesn't tell us what the road map for future releases will be but they have a temporary measure tool so I would like to think that is going to be expanded to permanent and or flexible measurement display whereby you measure an object and when you resize the object the measurements scale to match, only time will tell.

firstdefence reacted to PLShutterbug in Imported PDF page does not render properly on print
That's exactly what I did, and I worked on the problem page first since it was the last I copied and then chose the specific PDF page from. I think maybe that is the root of the issues I experienced.
The rest of what you say makes sense, now that you've explained it.

firstdefence got a reaction from justinpbrown71 in AP2 - Can I Save A Live Filter Preset?
You could probably create a macro to apply a set of live filters and their respective settings. The filter settings should be adjustable within the macro.

First decide if you want to fix the colors, or you think there are an intended part of the logo.
To remove, use e.g. HSL adjustment to fade to grey.
One way is to use an invert adjustment, and use pen tool to make a rough vector shape used as mask to restrict to the font.

Thank you, firstdefence. Your suggested fix worked perfectly. In my defence (pun intended), I'm not a graphic designer. I'm a learning experience designer. Again, thanks, firstdefence.
