firstdefence reacted to lacerto in Some part are missing while exporting to png files
I am not sure if it is a bug in itself but the behavior is explained by the fact that Affinity apps do not have separately a property for retaining background transparency and flattening partial transparency when exporting to indexed PNG so partial transparency with matte set to none will remove all pixels with partial transparency.
This can be worked around even without editing the image in Photo by using a Curves adjustment layer where partial transparency has been turned off, like this:
turnoff_partialtransparency.mp4
The resulting indexed PNG with transparent background:

Standard png is your best option with transparency included and a smallish file size, albeit almost 3 times the size of a palletised export with approximate file sizes for none palletised being 480kb vs 178kb for palletised.
You could use online or offline image compress apps and you will be able to get the file size down considerably if that is needed.

firstdefence got a reaction from mondze in is it possible to change start/end point of a closed path, curve?
Yes.
Select the Node Tool (A) Select the node you want to be the end point Select Break Curve from the Node tool context menu Select Close Curve from the Node tool context menu.

Thank you so much!

Go to File > Document setup... Colour Tab and check Transparent Background
That should give you a transparent background for export.

firstdefence got a reaction from dehskins in Gaussian Blur export rasterizing
Adding a blur to anything will get it rasterised in Affinity Designer.
My take on the "vector" brush is that it's really a PNG brush that can stretch or repeat a PNG "Image" on a curve, the vector part is that the subsequent stroke can be moved/adjusted with nodes but ultimately it's a raster image stretched or repeated and will get rasterised when exporting to SVG or PDF, if you select rasterise nothing in either the SVG or PDF More settings, the brush stroke will not be exported, what you will end up with is a non-brush stroke of proportional width.

firstdefence reacted to Hangman in UI glitch in Affinity Photo v2.0.3 Live Masks have a collapsed preset highlight
It's the same with Monterey and 2.0.4 (see post above) which I just saw you 'liked' but good to have a second opinion and confirmation of course that it affects Catalina as well, my money's on 'yes' since this has existed since the release of V2... 😜

Just to confirm this has been the case since the launch of V2.0 and applies to 2.0.4 in Monterey as well...

To enhance the compatibility, you should probably Package your Publisher file, which will capture all the images and fonts it currently contains. Then you can open the Package on the new machine.

firstdefence reacted to MikeTO in Show Hyperlinks in Publisher
If you apply the hyperlink to text you can adjust the hyperlink style as @firstdefence mentioned, but if you apply the hyperlink to an object you'd need to use the Hyperlinks panel and use the Go to Source button to select the object.

firstdefence got a reaction from SHack in Show Hyperlinks in Publisher
Welcome to the forum @SHack
You could temporarily change the hyperlink style to show as a different colour text or use the highlight option this way any button that has a hyperlink will be very obvious, once done you can simply change the colour of the text back or turn the highlight option off.

firstdefence reacted to StuartRc in Fill a Section with a Texture
In Designer you can use a vector pattern contained within the assets panel. Simply drag the object onto the Fill swatch of a vector shape. It can be seamless and scaled. I use this a lot now! really useful for adding quick textures to images

Slightly easier way, by creating curves and filling the curves, you draw a curve using the pen tool and use the gradient fill tool to fill the curve with a bitmap texture, it will scale and rotate as you want, or if you have the parts as vectors simply export them from where you created them and fill, or use a third-party app to vectorise the graphic.

You can use the selection as a mask.
Deselect and selections you currently have active In Affinity Photo drag in the pattern you want to apply or place it whichever method you prefer. Make sure the X, Y, W and H are all integer values. Make sure the pattern layer is selected and choose Layer > New pattern layer from selection The document will fill with the pattern Temporarily turn the new pattern layer off so you can see your design layer and make sure it's selected and make a selection Turn the New Pattern layer back on and make sure it's selected in the layers panel On the layers panel click the mask icon at the bottom and select Mask, this will mask the layer layer to the selection Deselect the selection by pressing Ctrl + D or Cmd + D on Mac To edit the New pattern layer, i.e. scale it up or down or reposition it, you will need to remove the mask by dragging it above the New pattern layer, once you have done that you can drag the mask back onto the new pattern layers icon to re-apply the mask.
I sincerely hope there is an easier way to do this in Affinity Photo.

firstdefence reacted to setgo in Setting up layout for home riso zine
Ah, I see... it'd be nice if Affinity could implement it in future versions, but it's a pretty situational issue, so I get it. Thanks for letting me know!

As far as I am aware imposition is still not a feature so sorting the order of pages for staple binding would have to be manually done in this instance. I think some decent PDF editors can do imposition.

firstdefence got a reaction from SouthBama in how to reduce image before cloning reduced image onto a 2nd photo
Welcome to the forum @southbama
I think you are getting pixels and DPI mixed up, DPI (Dots Per Inch) is used for print and is related to resolution with 300 DPI the standard amount, what you are talking about are pixels.
You don't need to do all this exporting and resizing, all you have to do is resize the car image with the bounding box nodes, you can drag and drop or place the car image into the truck image and simply scale the car down to a size you like.
Place or drag and drop the car image into the truck image Select the Move Tool (V) Make sure the car layer is selected and look to the bottom right, click and hold the small bounding box node and drag to the top left. -

The barcode_OCRB is for the 50999 number but can be set to pretty much any font, I could generate one with the text set to say Arial for you.

It would be great to have something similar to Words Review Tab, where comments can be added for review.

firstdefence reacted to Komatös in What Pixel Brushes were used (in a sample Affinity uploaded)?!
It doesn't just look like that, it's an effect layer with noise.
There are brushes available, for example from Frankentoon, True Grid, DAUB or Ian Barnard, but all these brushes are not suitable for full-area, over the whole drawing area, overlay.
