firstdefence got a reaction from DVS in Extracting Piece from Multi-Layered Map
An addition to Bruces suggestion is to create a clipping mask, use a specific sized vector (integer numbered size and integer numbered location) Make a note of these so the next clip can either be butted up or add say a 5 px overlay so you don't get gaps.

I'm gonna hazard a guess that this is about the Move By Whole Pixels under Affinity Designers Snap settings and the fact it will continue to to maintain a non-integer X:Y position.

Who gave you these instructions?
So this is an exercise to familiarise yourself with Affinity Publisher, to create a template for repeatable web graphic generation in publisher for export into file formats, such as png, webp and jpeg.

Now Peter, you know 369º = 9º and prune mistakes are definitely not something I want lol
I'm going to start saying this just to laugh at the expressions on peoples faces lol!

I'm with @Peter Mican why complicate something, isn't the best policy to end up at the lowest common denominator, isn't it good to give people a way to work that suits their way of thinking. My brain doesn't automatically think that circle is two 180º arcs, I think it's a complete 360º circle.
+1 for a 360º dial that starts with 0 at the top. Be more amadine

Instead of using the 3D fx try shapes and transparency. Lets take the end of the box as an example.
See the added example in your document, there may be better techniques from the more knowledgeable people on the forum but this is a start.

For example, to create vector shadows, you can e.g. stack transparent strokes using the Appearance panel. This is an "old school" method how e.g. Freehand used to create shadows. Some time ago I have posted examples like this one, although I don't remember in which context it was. But a similar method may also work for 3D-effect:

firstdefence got a reaction from Storyteller58 in Affnity Publisher for large files
I'm pretty sure Affinity can handle that, and the chapter/book feature is probably a good way to go, there are some people a lot better able to advise you like @walt, @MikeTO
-
firstdefence reacted to MikeTO in Affnity Publisher for large files
Hi @Storyteller58, yes, Publisher can definitely handle that. I'm slowly writing a long history book with several hundred pages and several hundred images and Publisher handles it without any issues. And I'm creating it as a single document and not as a "Book" made up of separate "Chapter files". While the Book feature is great, it adds complexity and I'd prefer to avoid that if the app can handle it which it does. But if you do take the Book approach, Publisher will handle the indexing for you. There are some limitations of the Book feature though so I suggest reading the Book chapter of the free manual I've written for Publisher - it's available as a PDF download from my signature below. And it's an example of a book written in Publisher as a single file.
There's an expanded version of the manual coming for 2.4 so when that's released return to the forum to download the updated manual.
Cheers

Then simply use Illustrator. Problem solved.

... AND if you release the compound, the initiall shape/curve colors will be remembered, thus object colors will be again as they had been initially setup.

firstdefence got a reaction from chriscaldwell in Need some help with gradient and embossed effect.
There is an alternative way to colour the badge...
Use the Colour Panel and the colour picker tool to select a colour from the original cap (I used the right side of the cap) Drop into Pixel Persona and Cmd Click on the Badge layer to make a selection Add a pixel layer and use the fill tool to fill the selection onto the pixel layer Change the pixel layers blend mode to colour. -
firstdefence got a reaction from chriscaldwell in Need some help with gradient and embossed effect.
A simple recolour filter will get the badge colour to match the cap...
Hope you don't mind but a note re inserted graphics on posts, you can double click on them during post creation and or amendment and scale them to make the post more legible, I generally scale to 500px, when people click on them they will be able to view them at the correct size.
