  1. With fonts like this you're always going to get node glitches and the only way is to trawl around the edges at a high zoom to spot the issues, there is no substitute for hands on grunt work. I even pasted the shape into illustrator to try node cleanup but that came back as no issues.

I wonder if there is a plugin for this sort of issue that can either highlight crossed curves etc so you can easily spot them.

Update: Astute do VectorFirstAid for Illustrator which looks pretty powerful but thats not much good for Affinity users unfortunately

  2. Also be careful when adding nodes as a slight movement during a click will add a smooth node instead of a sharp node, you can change it to a sharp node if you do this but just thought you should be aware of this in case you want a straight line.

Sharp nodes have a square shape, a smooth node is a solid round shape and a smart node is a round shape with a dot in the middle.

  3. Hi John, re waiting No, I haven't had to wait that long, Tomorrow I'll take a few images, its raining at the mo but it reckons its going to be dry in the morning so I might get so dew shots to run through. I personally think I get better images without all this Super Smoothing Resolution hoop jumping. In the super res post I only just noticed your workflow ask.

I would generally use one of the raw conversion apps I have because I have NEF files and the Standalone HDR Efex Pro doesn't import those so I generally end up making 16bit TiFF. I've done New HDR Merge and then gone onto HDR Efex Pro as the plugin, I have to use a restrained tone mapping in Affinity if I want to use HDR Efex Pro else things get a bit crazy with the colours..

  4. Which app do you have or are going to use?

You can add, remove or overlay on a JPEG. Using the Pen Tool will overlay any shapes or lines you create, you can rasterise the image once finished. I would make a copy of the JPEG and use that to work on so that you retain an untouched original should things not work out how you imagined.

With the copy you can experiment to see if what you want to do will be viable. Simply open the copy JPEG and draw with the Pen Tool.

I don't really have system issues so I guess this is enough in my signature? I always keep my software up-to-date.

That's much better, take a look at this app RocketCave another one is Blue Griffon and also CoffeeCups HTML Editor

As Friskel said it will never hurt to understand HTML and CSS and will make troubleshooting a lot easier. I suppose it's what you actually want to do, what websites you want to create, be it a simple flyer site (one or two pages with contact details), a blog, a selling site, a promo site or anything in-between.

  6. Hi @sprite~1 There are quite a few apps around that will do what you need, a start would be to give some more info or add these details in a signature within your account settings so people don't have to ask over and over.

So, things like Operating System(OS) etc helps so people can point you to apps compatible with your OS, System spec, so people can troubleshoot system issues, what affinity apps you have and maybe their version numbers. see my sig below this post for an idea.

if you start a new post maybe put ADe for designer, APh for Photo at the start of the title e.g "(ADe) I have a pen tool issue"

  7. I owned Android for 6 years including a Samsung Tocca and a Samsung Note. The Tocca took awesome images and even survived being chucked off of my van at 50mph and then run over by an 18 wheel Articulated lorry unscathed, I couldn't believe it O.o

The lack of App space (Not total space) was a royal PIA having to remove apps to put more on was just tedious. Also a lot of the apps were poorly designed or just didn't work properly, there were some good apps but it was very hit and miss. Lag was a big issue and the device got choked up very quickly, constantly having to clear caches, moving "bits" of an app to an external Micro SD was also very messy, if you wanted basic common-sense functionality you had to jailbreak the device. If I had to sum up Android now, it would be "Messy, clumsy and laggy." Maybe things have improved a bit but I much prefer iPhone.
