  1. That's pretty much as I understand it, So at best it's a ball-park guide.
  2. I always thought the 18% grey card was a myth and most camera's aren't actually set to 18% they are bias towards 12-14% ish anyway. I use the threshold adjustment to find the hotspot.
  3. Or if you don't want to get to the end of the raw? you can press and hold shift while pressing the return key like this.
  4. Its the white that makes the grey look darker, you could try creating a rectangle with white and changing its opacity to about 60% then lock the layer. and just turn it off when you're ready to export. its a bit of a trick on the eyes, it makes the transparency look faded. No fade layer With a 60% white fade layer
  5. ...and invariably the software being generously open sourced is more of a very wealthy companies philanthropic exercise and great PR, it may also have elements that through community endeavours find their way into commercial products that do give that company a financial benefit.
  6. Definitive answer: Affinity isn't going to create a Linux version for the foreseeable future, so let it go people. After the foreseeable future, who knows...
  7. You can create a shape and place that shape as a child to the font, or you can use the Fill Tool to use a Bitmap image of water as the fill.
  8. Use File > Export to save as a JPG Using File > Save will save it as Affinity Photo's Proprietary Format which is .afphoto only Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer can open this file.
  9. Useful Info we always need. What OS are you on? Mac or Windows and what version of Affinity Photo are you using. Until Affinity Photo can do Batch RAW processing you would be better to look at a substitute app until such time as Affinity can implement Batch processing of RAW files. As far as I am aware Affinity Photo cannot Create Macro's in Develop Persona.
  10. I've just done this and get no error, it might be helpful if you could explain the editing process that caused this, it could be a combination of actions that create this issue or a particular action, if you can reproduce the error consistently you may have found a bug but we are getting ahead of ourselves. If it's intermittent it could be a permissions problem or something akin to that, that has gotten screwed up. Just for laughs, have you run First Aid from Disk Utilities.
  11. An EPS should open as a vector file in Designer and not be pixelated, I have multiple EPS files and they all open as vectors, not rasterised. You can use shutterstocks editor to export to JPG, PNG, TIFF and PDF, Although having just tried it doesn't do a very good job as it looks like it rasterises the image regardless of format, so you end up with something more akin to a PNG file with no edibility for the vector components, It also has a checkbox to save the original image which I would have thought would include the vector but it actually includes the JPG, very disappointing from shutter stock. The reason I suggested PDF is because Affinity uses the PDF portion of the file in such files as Ai, EPS and obviously PDF. Without looking at one of the downloaded files, it's difficult to know what more to say. The MODS have access to a secure dropbox location so if one of them see's this post like @MEB they can take a look, I have no way of accessing the file unless you load it to this post which is probably not a good idea with a paid for product. As a side note do you have any other apps that will open EPS files and if so how does the file/s open in that app? (If not take a look at Inkscape) Screenshot to show what is happening or how it looks.
  12. I did a similar thing with Vector Magic, the awesome thing with Vector Magic is it created groups for all the different colours, it also named the groups with the #number for that colour, that's pretty neat stuff. I did actually recreate the the file manually and the quarter pies aren't quarter circles they are more corners from a fat pill shape. Circles17 via Vector Magic.afdesign
  13. Could also be Windows updating, check to see if any updates were applied around the same time. Windows Memory Tester (WMT) is ok but I've had modules that pass with WMT but fail with Memtest86 or Memtest86+ and I trust Memtest over Windows. Event-viewer might throw some light on the issue. https://www.howtogeek.com/school/using-windows-admin-tools-like-a-pro/lesson3/
  14. Affinity? Designer or Photo Sounds more like you are opening a JPG or there is no Vector data in the file. I've just opened one of my Shutterstock EPS files In Photo and it is Rasterised (Pixelated) so I'm assuming you have Affinity Photo. In Affinity Designer It opens as a Vector file. Affinity Designer Affinity Photo
  15. I suppose you'd be better off buying a better CPU and/or more good quality Memory if the main reason for using the PC is Affinity.
  16. Does this happen on any other program/s. Have you tested your computers Memory Is the Computer running hot
  17. The Node Tool in Affinity Photo is 'P' on the Keyboard, this will toggle between the Pen Tool and the NodeTool, so Pressing 'P' again will bring up the Pen Tool.
  18. Hi Annie, what lighting if any are you using to take the images and what camera? All light has some colouration which can be shown by its Kelvin rating, depending on the light source, be it natural or artificial it will create a colour cast, pitching at around 5600 - 6000 kelvin would get you a nicer light with a lilt towards the bluer spectrum.
