I Also tried V2 but got the same issue, I ran another vertical alignment check and I did change the settings on the printer and got the same step but the other way so the step is now on the left side, so that was obbvious but I got my Inspector Clouseau magnifying glass out and the right side is also out of alignment but doesn't look as obvious as the left side. I do think this is a printer issue and the alignment needs tweaking, so now I know that I need to get somewhere in-between the previous setting and the last setting I now have to nudge the alignment back to the right a shade.

The VMware environment does change things a bit, which VM software are you using and how do you have that set up, Parameters etc. @R C-R I based the Artboard reply on the fact under Bynah Preferences it showed the setting for Artboard background, which doesn't appear if you just open Affinity Photo, you either have to have Affinity Designer open or be editing in Affinity Photo from Affinity Designer. same for Affinity Publisher, use the Affinity Designer persona and under preferences you will get the artboard background setting, nothing will happen in Affinity Publisher because you cannot add an artboard to a document that has multiple pages and the slider doesn't work because there is no artboard but it's there nevertheless so there would have to be some connection to Affinity Designer because only Affinity Designer uses artboards. With Affinity being in VMware it's likely it's a rendering issue of some sort but that does not mean it cannot be fixed just because Affinity Photo does not support VMware, it's just a puzzle that can potentially be solved with the right settings.

No, that doesn't normally happen. just for funs, I copied the paths from LineTest2.afpub into Illustrator and printed from illustrator, the result was a single step line on the right side of each rectangle approx mid way down the right edge, I didn't get the stepped lines on the internal vertical lines. I then printed from Affinity Publisher and got the same result. So, illustrator produced the same result with the paths in the same way as Affinity Publisher. So same paths/curves, same print driver software. I also did an alignment check and printed again with the same result above.

Just tried with illustrator and using the Send to does indeed send to CM5 but I have no idea what format it Illustrator sends it to CM5, I suspect it's either DXF, SVG or Ai but there is no indication. You can't drag and drop either and I've checked all the file formats such as DXF Ai SVG and when trying to add to queue they are all greyed out. -

If it's sending directly from Illustrator, the chances are it's proprietary Ai files and not just a PDF, same with CorelDraw. You may have to buy a compatible version of CorelDraw or Illustrator. Which model is the plotter cutter? -

Can we get a shot of the layers panel and maybe the af file. I would also check your colour format/profile in Affinity ??? -

Ive opened the document and it shows each image having what I assume is the intended caption as fig number + caption, so, fig. 1. a woman, fig. 2. a ship, fig. 3. the docks What I see. -
Transform?
firstdefence replied to ennuied's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Short answer is you can't. You can turn a shape into a curve, but not a curve into a shape. a shape has built in features indicated by red markers and inputs seen on the shapes context menu above the workspace. You can create an asset from a curve but it will just be a curve that is easy to add to a document. -
I printed the afpub doc out on an Epson WF-C5210 series laser printer. All of the vertical lines are staggered, I changed the 1PT rectangle to integer values with the stroke at 4px integer and dimension and location as... Transform The result was... I also converted to curves to check the nodes X and Y locations, I had the pixels set to 6 places in Preferences.

Welcome to the forum @frank99 You had Hardness set too high so you are seeing defined edges, if you can go back and do it again use a softer brush setting. You can change the Hardness of a brush from the context menu just above the workspace or in the brush settings by clicking on more... on the same context menu. When repairing it usually takes a combination of tools. Without seeing the unedited image it's hard to say what tools would be most effective. To correct this mistake try the inpainting tool (J), work from the top of the brushmarks downward, then do the same thing but going upwards, you can also deal with the slight creases on the left with the inpainting tool. Make small to medium selections and you should end up with something like this...

Did you use the MSIX or the MSI installer to install Affinity 2? -
Trying a Mosaic
firstdefence replied to Bay's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
To get colours you can go to the swatches panel and click on the burger menu and select Create palette from image... load an image in and move the slider all the way to the right so you have 256 colours, now you can select colours easily. Hummingbird mosaic AD V1.afdesign -
Trying a Mosaic

You must have version 1 @Bay, I'll make it in my Version 1 for you. There are many styles on this type of mosaic, Filter forge has a lot of filters with different styles but while doing this by hand is long-winded I find it quite relaxing to do. -

You should have more curve layers and not curves layers, note the plural. Each feather needs to be a single curve and yours are not, you also have a lot of open curves, this is indicated by the fill stopping at the boundary to the open curve, you cannot have a T junction with curves either, so your method for drawing curves will not work. Draw the backbone of the wing and then draw each feather so that when you apply a fill it fills the whole space of the closed curve. Sample file low poly design.afdesign -
Hardness function in Brush
firstdefence replied to Adrian Wood's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
I have a few brush sets by Kyle and some of the Manga brushes work with Hardness active but it's a bit hit and miss, although it seems like any brush with a texture base and no custom nozzle has hardness active. All the Ron brushes I have installed have Hardness disabled.- 9 replies
