  1. With the trapezoid selected and showing the red nodes move the red node until you get a green highlight indicating the slope is at 45º
  2. I thanked him for enlightening me and probably others on that odd method, but nevertheless, it's still not logical that you can then move the cursor, guide in hand, onto the canvas so why can't it be done from the canvas like the other tools that can manipulate guides. A lack of consistency makes for a counter-intuitive UI. Why you find that hard to understand is a WTF moment indeed.
  3. Not the same and seems rather illogical and still counter-intuitive.
  4. Even in version 2.0.4 you cannot reposition the guide, which is damned annoying, very illogical and counter-intuitive. I stand corrected... but the method is still damned annoying, very illogical and counter-intuitive.
  5. Select the node tool and make sure on the node tools context menu under snap: the first icon is selected, zoom in on the node and simply drag a guide to the node it will snap to the node. This doesn't require the main snapping option to be active either. Snap guides to nodes.mp4
  6. A percent = 1 part of 100, Using multiple percent is called a percentage. Imagine your document width and height divided into 100 bits, to get a guide dead centre either horizontally or vertically simply use 50 which is half of 100 so 50%. Using Guides Manager... for centre lines is very easy, simply check the Percent option, then click on the new guide icons for both vertical and horizontal guides and it will automatically create new guides at 50%
  7. Welcome to the forum @AnOwl Re High Pass, use the Live Filter from the Layers panel, that way you have editability on the fly. Also you can change the blend mode of the filter so you have no need to duplicate the image.
  8. We can set a guide to a percent of the document, i.e. 50% to get centre guides, but what about setting guides to a percent of an object, group, or multiple selected objects, I think this would be a cool feature that I haven't seen in other software.
  9. You can also take the guessing out of it by using View > Guides... and using percentage as the unit. You'll be surprised how 'off' you can be even with snapping enabled, in most cases it would be a percent or two even though it appears to have snapped to the centre. Something I've noticed is the red horizontal snap indicator goes beyond the bounds of the canvas but the green vertical indicator does not, at least not in Affinity Photo v2 on mac. I also think they are missing an opportunity to have better snapping by not having a "To selection" option, this can be a singular object or multiple. I'll make a request for this.
  10. Can be done with two rounded rectangles and a block to knock out the rest all within a compound layer. F example.afdesign
  11. This is for Affinity Photo v1: Background fix for AP V1.afphoto same fix as "" posted, just copied the layers over to an Affinity Photo v1 document.
  12. Note: Document is Affinity Designer v1 I think you have to uncheck the Set Viewbox in exports more settings.
  13. Masking is probably the only way to get a clean background. Everything can be edited and tweaked White BG for artwork.afphoto If the background is a bit sterile you could also add a bit of side light to tie in with the shadows, subtle but to the eye if feels more correct.
  14. Considering the components that go into making a decent frame and Mat, I say learn, it's not rocket science. 8 x 10 frame and mat with textures: Frame and Mat.afphoto
  15. The problem appears to be the Outer Shadow FX you have on the images group, if you turn that off you don't get the blue box. If you remove the outer shadow from the group and apply it to the layers within the group, you retain the outer shadow and do not get the blue box. Like so... DDC 20 book cover V8 v4.pdf
  16. Try this... Create a new Affinity Publisher document Go to Document > Add Pages From File... Look for your file and see if it will open long enough for you to import all the pages from that file. Good luck.
  17. Can you create a new Affinity Publisher file and copy the layers over to it, I'd suggest saving locally and uploading to dropbox afterwards, saving to cloud and network drives will likely give you a corrupt file.
  18. @NotMyFault Why do you think the bmp behaves like this? would you consider it a bug?
  19. It looks like it, I wonder if if it's something to do with alpha because the diff between a 24bit and 32bit is the inclusion of alpha in the 32bit, hence the very transparent result.
  20. I agree, Maybe make a request for this in the request/feedback section: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/52-feedback-suggestions/
  21. Hells bells, I think I'm right in my understanding. Solution: Don't lock layers on Master Pages.
