Where are the basic templates?
firstdefence replied to Jeff Rudd's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Never used a template in any software that had them, too generic, I think templates are useful for the Home/DIY person to make a poster, flyer, leaflet and have no design skills and they just want an a,b,c document to put up in the village hall, use at a fete, etc, then templates would be the first place to go. -
Individual nodes cannot be locked, a layer can be locked but obviously that locks all nodes.

Export of edited image to skype
firstdefence replied to Daveg14's topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Does this happen on any edited JPEG and do you have an example file you can add to the post for us to look at? -
Welcome to the forum @Helve Generally Serif do not share software roadmaps. There are many things that people want, true vector brushes, better management of brushes, assets and symbols, variable font and full colorfont support, yours is in a long list of features requested. Unfortunately, it happens when it happens and that's all that can be said, they spend a lot of time on fixes to make sure the apps are stable and compatible with the ever changing OS'es and hardware, it will happen but when is a moot point.

...and then windows pops a vague error message, but, you installed as a regular user and consequently locked yourself down, I can understand doing this for a child but as an adult, and I'm assuming you are an adult, an admin account is not a bad thing, most people have had experience of limited accounts and the problems that can occur as a consequence of restricted control and invariably it will tell you to consult with the admin. In general, people don't blindly install windows with admin privileges for no reason, it's because of things like this, vague messages with no obvious solution, windows is famous for it, it may as well say "computer says no". To find out what is going on you have to dig deeper but, oh no, you can't, because you don't have admin privileges. This is why people generally install an admin account, to not have to deal with trivialities, like this. This error can occur for a variety of reasons, so, below are a few things to try, they are not guaranteed to work and you may be hindered by regular account limitations but it's a start. There are options you can try: https://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmagic/a-required-privilege-is-not-held-by-the-client.html

Fontlab Pad is an interesting app for both Mac and windows: https://www.fontlab.com/fontlab-pad/ should make it easier to typeset using colorfonts and then save to common file formats like SVG, PDF and PNG. Unfortunately... RUNS ON Mac OS X 10.6—10.14 and Windows XP—10. Free to use on any number of devices belonging to one household or organization. OPENS Color OpenType (.otf/.ttf) in SVG, sbix, COLR/CPAL and CBDT/CBLC flavors, Photofont (.phf) in PNG and SVG flavors, SVG fonts (.svg), monochrome OpenType, Type 1, web fonts, UFO, VFB. COPIES AND EXPORTS PDF, SVG, PNG. But... I have it working on the latest Sonoma, I had to copy/paste the app into Applications.

If exporting to SVG and PDF displays the font as it should why can't Affinity simply activate this in house, seems bonkers to have a colorfont font that doesn't display as it is and is actually masked out by a text fill, surely it's not that big a leap to get these fonts displayed au naturel instead of hoop jumping yet again.

Make sure you have a stroke defined with the pen tool invariably it is set to zero, by defining a stroke above zero you can also define a colour. What you are seeing in the image is the bounding lines, like a default colour when no colour is set and which cannot be changed, at least not yet, you can also add a request to have that as a feature. Another option is to drop the opacity of the product image by about 30-40% to make the pen tools bounding line or stroke stand out more.
