Thanks for your reply. Sad but at least things clear to me. They ignore me, so I have to ignore them and look for alternatives. Corporations are always like that; that is why I prefer free/FOSS software. Time to send my money to Krita and other open source projects...

It seems that Affinity products (v2)are no longer privacy friendly as they are no longer available for Windows 7...Am I right? As a GNU/Linux daily driver user I used Affinmity apps on a virtual machine on my Windows 7. They worked pretty well and that is why I purchased all 3 of them as well as some add-ons. I consider Windows 7 the last user-friendly OS by Microsoft. Windows 10/11 and Apple OSes are all spyware to me that i must avoid. I am very much disappointed with Serif that Affinity is no longer for me. Can you help me in any way? Any plans to port Affinity apps to Linux/Android or at least CrossOver Linux or will you completely ignore such customers like me?

I totally agree that there should be an .EXE or .MSI version. The .MSIX version installed fine on my system, but the problem I have is that other programs can not call up an instance of Affinity. For example, in my workflow I use ACDSee to manage my photos, and love using Affinity Photo to edit the photos. Unfortunately I can no longer link directly to the Affinity Photo 2 app through the "External Editor" function as there is no .EXE app on my computer. It basically makes the program mostly unusable for me.

I had the same frustration. I like to have custom control over how my applications are installed on my machine (as I have 4 hard drives with individual purposes).
Also, the upgrades in V2 weren't as grand as they were made out to be, so I uninstalled and asked for a refund, which they honored.
V1 is great for my purposes, and I'll only move up to V2 when the features are worth it, and the install is customizable.

Just seeing this now, that's what I figured, sad case. We're still awaiting the msi/exe installer for V2. I'm not really to worried about how long it will take but I wonder if there's a way I can sign up to be notified when its out

I am writing to request an update on the potential release of a Linux port of the Affinity Suite. I understand that in the past, the small user base for Linux compared to macOS and Windows was a concern. However, I would like to bring to your attention that the number of Linux users has significantly increased since the forum posts discussing this issue in 2016-2018. This survey conducted by Stack Overflow, demonstrates the increased adoption of Linux by professionals developers. A similar survey show the same increase in VFX studios, and other artistic industries for stability and deployment reasons. Both shows that Linux exceed macOS's user base by a significant amount.
I also wanted to mention the availability of Flatpak / Flathub as a solution to the issue of portability and stability across different Linux distributions. In addition, I wanted to address the concern of profitability in the development of a Linux release. While it is not a perfect solution, I have seen that the Affinity Suite primarily uses OpenGL, who have been implemented well on Linux and .NET 4.8 achieve acceptable stability through the use of wine.
As a professional photo editor, vector graphics, and page layout software, the Affinity Suite would be a valuable addition to the Linux ecosystem, filling a gap in the market for high-quality professional software on this platform. I hope that you will consider these points in your current position on a Linux release.
I respectfully request that Could you provide us with your current stance on a Linux release, taking into account the points mentioned above.

So, I just got the email about the Publisher Beta coming to an end soon and the generous 30% discount I can take advantage of, but I need some clarity. - Are Affinity products giving free updates for life (as in "Life of the product" and all future versions) or free updates until the next major release (as in free updates for version 1.X.X.XXX but not for version 2.X.X.XXX)?
I raise this question because your email about Affinity Publisher seems to be the latter.

I voted "no" as I currently use XnView MP to view and organise my files. It has built in support / thumbnail support for almost any file you can think of (including Affinity files) and I have been using it for years. ALSO, it's FREE and OPEN SOURCE. The only way I'd use another tool / DAM / Asset Manager / Media Organiser is if it's, at the veryleast, free. I would not pay an extra $1 for something that I already have.
Yes, there may be ways of integrating such an app into an Affiniy main application but XnView works just fine for me.

Couldn't agree more. It such basic feature that would greatly improve quality of life, but for some reason Serif is hesitant to implement it, despite being among oldest and frequent feature request

    Hey everyone!
Please consider including saving and loading the studio layout to and from file (windows, toolbar content, tools position and content) for Designer, Photo and Publisher.
This would speed up things when
    - using the software on multiple Macs
    - having the layout set back by an update (e.g. 1.7)
    - going from a beta version to the store version
It took me about 45 minutes to setup the UI for Affinity Publisher, including Designer and Photo persona, on two Macs.
Also, I think the Designer and Photo personas of Publisher should read the UI layout of Designer and Photo.
    Best wishes,
    Shu

I think there must be some sort of subsidy at pixologic at the end of the day they don't make zBrush because it gives them a warm fuzzy feeling inside - although it probably does a bit. I read a post a while ago stating that at some point they will be charging for upgrades, although they didn't say when that might happen, probably in years not months.
People spend a lot of time working on these apps and a lot of the programming isn't lego programming it's hands-on scratch your head and figure it out programming, then the bug fixes which to a point is why we have beta versions but even then you are going to get an army of jack the lad's who do something odd and find obscure bugs in the release version. Then of course the ever demanding public and their need to have what they want in an app, who could care less how that is implemented as long as it's in. But, in order for that to happen bums have to be on seats and at the moment nobody is going to do a job for nothing... would you?
Affinity are a company and as much as they want to create great software the bottom line is to make money (profit) why else would you be in business? it would be nice if Bruce Wayne or if you want to be modern - Elon Musk was behind it all subsidising our insatiable wants but the reality is different.

Then the option to not purchase a license is yours.
I don't like spending money, period. It's just a fact of life if I want or feel I need a particular software I need to pay for major revisions if a company doesn't offer lifetime licensing.
But for me, at least with perpetual licensing, any particular company needs to earn that payment by adding things I see of value. Else I won't upgrade unless an OS upgrade (which I can also refuse) breaks something. It's always our choice to purchase an upgrade or not.

DDNN reacted to MikeW in Free Updates For Life or Until Another Major Release?
I have a few software titles that I have a lifetime license for. Nice when available. At least if they are in business long enough for that payment to at least equal what I would have paid over time before they end their business.
Because do realize that a lifetime license is for your lifetime only if it is shorter than theirs.

Artrage has a similar feature where you can bring in reference and it saves with the file so it's always there, until you delete it of course. This feature, while maybe not essential would be convenient for certain applications...

Or a separate floating palette, like a Reference Image palette. It would display image(s) or a folder of images. There could be a next/previous navigation, zoom and panning controls in it. It would work just like a floating palette, be able to be resized or collapsed like the others. It could work like the media browser -- drag and drop images or folders on it..

Manga Studio has a feature like this named "Sub View Palette" (gotta love the sublime surreal naming of things in Manga Studio!). It's a great feature that allows me to load up reference images, so my characters stay "on model." It's implemented in MS as a app-wide thing, the images that are loaded up (have to load up images one at a time) and will remain the same until deleted in the viewer for all new documents.

If it was document-specific, different documents having their own images in the reference image palette, it would be so much more useful.
