elguapo got a reaction from bures in Open Publisher pages as Designer artboards
Please consider adding the feature to open or export Publisher document as separate artboards in Designer (just like we open PDFs).
Publisher has extremely powerful automation tools, but sometimes it's more convenient to work with artboards rather than pages. Also, Designer provides very powerful Export mode which lacks in Publisher. This way it's easier to tailor exporting of all necessary objects in their appropriate formats.

These are all legitimate questions, but currently even export as .adesign with artboards would be of great help and provide some very practical uses.

For some purposes (but probably not others) you might try:
Export the file from Publisher as a PDF. Open the PDF in Designer. Each page will be an Artboard. Alternatively, you can Open the Publisher .afpub file in Designer, and you have all the data as Pages but you can use the Export Persona. The limitation is that you can only use it on one page at a time.
Those are your only options, as far as I know. If you need something else, feel free to make a request in the Feedback forum, where the Serif planners look for them.

Smart master pages, quick page view with cmd-arrows, 3 Personas, auto-flow, all text frame features, data merge, adding comments to preflight check, etc, etc
+ it's like a book or pitch deck, everything is ordered, I can quickly move sections if needed, export wip to client to discuss and tons of other subtle things that even funny to say out loud.
Guys, really. There is some small benefit in using Publisher for this kind of work.

elguapo got a reaction from BelAffinity in Copy as SVG to Figma
Affinity has nice feature "Copy as SVG" to clipboard. But unfortunately it doesn't work with Figma at all, everything is copied as 1 px layer. I know there is a checkbox in settings that allows for nice export, but could it be possible to fix this checkbox in clipboard copying also? It's very tedious to export every object manually with Opt-Cmd-Shift-S.

elguapo got a reaction from Aleksandar Kovač in Quick placing of Pivot point for Point Transform tool
Sometimes there is need to quickly rotate the photo basing on what is present on it. And for this purpose I use point transform tool. And there is an annoying thing with pivot point: I always need to click and drag it from center to the point I need. Two problems: 1) When the photo is very big I have to zoom out 2) Imagine doing it to 20 photos when this task becomes repetitive.
I propose to add modifier to quickly put it in right place without need to zoom out. Opt-click for example. Illustrator has this feature for its' rotate and reflect tools.

Yes, I'm 100 % sure, and I was recording a video, but something interesting happened. The first time my personal data showed up on iPad, I had to re-record it.
And the second time, he saved the standard PDF with all the pages as expected.
While recording the second video I was bored and opened "Area - All Pages" and compatibility "PDF 1.7 (Acrobat 8)" rollovers. However, I didn't change anything in them and chose the same options. Don't know if it helps.
Also, the second file was smaller. The first one was 5.05 MB, and the second was 4.61 MB.
I now wonder what that was and how to recreate it.

elguapo got a reaction from loukash in Toggle "draw with finger" on/off
The thing that makes me constantly mad.
All iPad apps I use (Concepts, Procreate, even Notability) understand that when I hold a pencil, I want to draw with it, not with a finger. But then I still can manipulate shapes/layers etc., with fingers.
When I sketch a concept in Affinity Suite on the iPad or refine an illustration, I constantly get small brush strokes from my hand resting on it. But after switching to "touch for gestures only," I always forget that I can't manipulate frame points of objects or select anything anymore because I have to do it with a pencil.
Perhaps, it's helpful for someone to sketch with a finger, and some people use this function. But please add the option to switch it off for drawing tools (Paint Brush, Vector Brush, Pencil, etc.) Tools that are intended to be used with Pencil on iPad.
P.S. Other than that, new apps are pure joy.

    +1.
I agree that "Selection Only" should be default and other options in dropdown menu. So many times I have exported something quickly only to find out later it exported whole document.
Upd. Although, actually no, after "Copy as SVG" properly working, it's simple Cmd-C. Maybe Context menu with "Copy as SVG, Copy as PNG etc." will be quicker and better.

elguapo got a reaction from _Th in Global command palette
In many powerful modern applications there is a global command palette: Atom, Notion, even Figma has it.
The idea is you press Cmd-P and write anything you want, it searches and find something immediately. You can gain access to almost anything with one shortcut + keyword.
I find that I'm constantly using similar feature in "Help" search field to find lot of commands, fillters, selections, presets etc. Basically doing the same stuff. So I propose to transfer it into power command palette, adding more global connection to all things inside all 3 powerful apps.
E.g. now I edit a big document and need to select all raster objects + several specific shapes only in 1 artboard. With such command palette I could've write for example "select raster objects + scope artboard". And that 's it.
This also turns Affinity products more power user- and developer- friendly and opens enormous gate for adding bits of code/formulas to operate and automate things.

Bumping this also. I work in Figma a lot and global command palette is awesome tool for speeding things up. Smart selection is already implemented with plugins, check/uncheck some settings/options (e.g. copy as svg, custom snapping etc.) Possibilites are endless. Hope Affinity will implement this feature too.

elguapo got a reaction from Graphite Addict in Re-sync the object in symbol instance
    Thank you, Graphite Addict.

Placing a new symbol requires much more energy when the symbol is complex and is nested inside groups and layers. In big projects, this is a very daunting task.

I'll provide another example. I have a symbol with 30 objects inside, 7 of them tweaked (complex infographics part). I open the project in few days and see that I need to revert 3 of them to the original version. It's more logical to look inside the symbol in the layers panel and re-sync 3 out of 7 with an orange dotted line than to delete the whole symbol because of it and place another.
There might be an even better way to handle and organize symbols, but this software behavior is intuitively expected when looking at the layers panel.

    No idea what that is.
Of course you can ask and my answer is it would actually improve my workflow. I support the idea and am kind of confused as to why it is not already available as a keyboard shortcut or just as a redrawing of the handle to the screen's current location and zoom.
I am just making suggestions trying to help with the work, not saying we shouldn't have this as an improvement. Sorry if I came across that way.

There is a new realistic paint mixing technique made available to experiment with for free.  It would be a good addition to Affinity Photo.

Select all the layers you want to smugde and make sure "edit all layers" is on, and then you'll get to do it.
