Hi everyone, I'd like to bring back a bug report that has been totally ignored since 2021, which I think is urgent and deserves to be discussed.
Below you can find two very old threads talking about it.
to summarize:
the white balance tool is not working properly for non-raw files both in the develop persona and in the photo persona (through the adjustment layers).
-what the tool should do: colour pick a pixel and equalize the RGB values to convert the colour of the pixel to a neutral grey (RGB values equal to each other) then apply the same RGB shift to the whole image.
-what the tool really does: in develop persona with a raw file it works properly, when used on tiff, png, jpg (etc.) it does not work.
 
What we observed:
-the sliders in the develop persona with a raw file open are called "temperature" and "tint" and both of them are properly moved automatically when using the white balance tool, in this case it works properly;
-however in the photo persona (white balance adjustment layer) they are called "white balance" and "tint", and only the "white balance" slider move when colour picking the image, we don't see why they should be called and behave differently since it is the same tool that already works properly for raw files in the develop persona.
 
A possible way to fix the bug:
-just apply the same rule applied for raw files (in the develop persona) also to non-raw files (both in the develop persona and photo persona adjustment layers).

I'd love to see "pattern" live filter we could apply to a group instead of rasterizing each layer involved and do "new pattern layer from selection"   
I love how it works in Phototshop  currently in a non-destructive manner  but having it as live filter would be even better  + a checkbox to make repeating with a document frame rather than an object  one.    Or just make Affine filter live please.

Hello,
recently I struggled trying to find how to turn the artboard background to transparent, I found it in the preferences very hidden.
For a more userfriendly experience it would be nice to have the option directly available on the option bar when selecting the artboard or maybe in the export window in the dropdown menu where you select the type of export (together with selection area, only selected, artboard, all document...)

This issue is still with the Developers to fix and hasn't been forgotten about.
I've updated the report with a link back to this thread, so you will get a notification here, when this has been resolved  

2.1.1 still nothing. C'mon guys... this is a critical one, you should put it up on the list as soon as possible in my opinion! Otherwise, how in the world photografers can calibrate their photos properly, white blanace is the first step in most of photo editing workflows!

This issue wasn't touched for 2.0.4 which was mainly to fix urgent/critical issues, thus it's still open. I've bumped/updated it yet again - hopefully the next update/patch will take care of it. No worries with raising bugs/issues/problems with us - we appreciate your feedback. Thanks for keeping at it.

To keep this issue alive, I'm updating you that the bug is still present in 2.04. 
(Please do not think that I'm some kind of hater, I enjoy my time with affinity and the amount of product you offer, for such a low amount of money is extraordinary.)

Why don't just allow to right click the mask layer and make the "rasterize to pixel layer" do the trick? I feel like it is too cumbersome to make such a complex procedure for such an easy task...

I would just add that it's not only in develop persona but in the photo persona too (if you add a new white balance layer and use the picker, it will do nothing with the tint)... I guess its the same function used in two different places so it does not matter that much, but for my use case, and I think for a lot of people too, the bug in photo persona is the bigger problem.... when you need to go through hundreds of photos per day and know that it will be presented either only on the web or in a small format you usually do not bother with RAW and do some bulk conversion as the first step or just shooting to JPG in the first place. And if the photographer forgets to calibrate the camera properly, or is just shooting for a long time and a light condition changes, you need to be able to fix it with one click in the software

I already reported the bug years ago, but it was never fixed, so I thought to add a new request here.
The white balance tool in affinity photo works differently between raws and jpgs, the behaviour for raws is the correct one, it would be good to have the same behaviour for jpgs and all other formats as well.

I've noticed this bug last year, I already tried to report it in the forum but nothing happened yet, I found this area of the forum only recently, I hope posting it here will make it more visible to devs. Finger crossed.

BTW in this video it shows how it should work, and you can clearly see that when he clicks on the image both the sliders of temperature and tints move together to make the whites grey, however when I do it in my affinity photo (updated at the last version btw) it only moves the top slider, the second one stays fixed in place.

You are totally right, I chose to repost it here because from the previous discussion I didn't understand if the developers actually considered it as a bug or a feature that's why I reposted it into "feature requests  and suggestions".
However I should have at least reposted the link of the other discussion as you did, thank you very much.

That one was in Questions, where someone suggested it should be posted as a bug. Five months later rikkario finally posted in Bugs, and it was acknowledged and logged.

Suggestions to the developers need to be made in the Feature Requests & Suggestions part of the forum, as that is the only place they look for them.
