    Hi there!
Hope you are having a great weekend. Wanted to share with you this illustration I made today: it's a "Cosmic Entity", in the style of some you can find in Marvel's and DC's comics. It was made entirely in Affinity Photo, using the default brushes plus some made by @Frankentoon.
    Any feedback is appreciated!

    Best regards!

    Hello there!

Just wanted to share a recent commission I finished a couple of days ago using Affinity Photo and a couple of custom brushes. The Ad agency wanted to have something in the 80's horror movies fashion, with a couple kids fighting against each other during a roadtrip from hell. I really don't know what will be the final use for this, but I had lots of fun making this type of illustration. Any comment good or bad, will be welcome as always!

And here are some previous layout sketches. The original title was a little bit weird haha...

Practicing with @Frankentoon's comic book brushes and color and gradient swatches, so decided to start with something simple. Funny how when you try something you realize how much more you have to learn about it. Gotta work on those line weights...

    Hey there!

Here's a quick tutorial/demo on how to mix vector shapes and bitmap textures in Affinity Designer. Here I'm showing a simple but pretty useful technique I'm applying to almost all my vector artwork nowadays.

    FREE SAMPLE PACK!
I'm also giving away a small sample of my recent brush pack for Affinity Designer called Texturizer Pro. With this sample pack you can have enough to play around and get an idea of what the full set is about.

All right...     i think this was asked allready several times here...    i am sure, this will be on a top to do list for the next mayor release..
for me more important even than this nice thing, would be the ability to       additive select pixelmasks straight from the layermanager...    in Photohop i think strg+shift+left mouse button klick on a layer and you can click one after the other several layer and combine their pixelselection....    when you work with bigger documents and many layer ....    the fastest way...  in affinity Photo so far, you can only select one single layer-pixel-selection..    if you want to add several different masks, you first have to store them as aspare channel...  and this is a more severe speed-break, than the colorcheme, which i want too.

    Hello!
I’m testing Autodesk Sketchbook with Wacom Intuos Photo Small tablet. I can zoom, rotate and move (in any direction) canvas with two fingers, without take fingers off tablet. It is very comfortable. Can you implement such feature in Affinity Designer / Photo (Windows)? I love Affinity software but I miss comfortable manipulation of canvas.

sometimes simple just is faster....   so to get more of the adjustments also in the filter-area.. as destrictive layers makes sense..

    Hi Jugibur,
    Welcome to Affinity Forums.
This was requested a couple of times here in the forums and should be implemented later.

Linking an image instead of embedding it, would be useful if you're working on different documents with the same file, i.e. a logo in a design phase. So if you change that logo it will be respected in every file it is linked.
Besides that it doesn't increase your Designer file, that could be crucial if you're working with large files and make a lot of versions / copies of your Designer file.
I think it's like the new version of the Photoshop Smartobjects (CC version).

Would be great if this makes sense to you too and isn't too hard to implement. Thanks!

Frankentoon Studio reacted to Mr.Alan in visual color layer for my daily work
    Hello,
I'm new here and struggling with affinity photo in comparison to photoshop.
I'm a photographer and need a fast, solid & intuitive alternative for my daily work...
So therefor I compare my behavior work with ps and are searching for the functions.
First I need a better layer difference by color (see example attached).  I think this is no bog thing for affinity - isn't it?
    It helps me so much!

    Greetings
    Mr.Alan

    Hi there.

It's been over a year since last comment here and we still don't have that option. Please do add it asap. A lot of us simply need it and adding like 10 lines of code should not be that difficult. I'm sick of typing page size every time I need it - I rarely use standard formats that you included. We do with your software more that you expected I guess :).

IT would be great if we could replicate the fluidity of the brushes used in this video. Only the beginning clip, but there are many other clips that uses the same brush it seems throughout.

Frankentoon Studio reacted to Frank Jonen in More efficient mask usage
Masks, everybody has to do them, why not manage and utilise them in a meaningful way?
We could bring in external masks/alphas paint grayscale layers or have selections saved as channels. We could bring them in as linked images or embed them to the document.

Each time we create a new adjustment or filter layer we have to either go through the channels, create a selection from a channel or rasterise an existing grayscale layer to a mask.
That's the inefficient time-vampire kind of way.

How about letting us store and manage channels in a meaningful way?

Example: I have a mask drawn and want to move on from it to recall later. I could right-click and select "Store as Single-Channel… > Select / New channel" or "Store as Multi-Channel" for additional RGBs like normals or object coordinates for relighting. (In the channels list RGB sets would be displayed as a channel group, users can also create channel groups, RGBs are just automatically generated for the user)

When I need that selection in a tool, the tool would just have a dropdown menu listing all the available channels (incl. RGBA) and I could select the mask I've just made.
If I make changes to that mask, all tools using that mask update automatically. No hassle, no extra time cost.

maybe I'm missing it, but is there an option to open a JPEG, or bitmap image
and trace,or convert it to a vector file for further editing? If not there should be one, it would be a great option. even if it had only a few modes like black and white, and 5 color
it would make me convince me to convert from adobe illustrator
