  1. Thanks for all your comments!, I think Affinity Photo has great potential for illustrators, I'm still missing a couple of features as Paolo said above, but all in all, you can do pretty much everything with this power Designer-Photo duo! I'm looking forward for the new update :D
  2. To be honest, I've never tried Affinity Photo for digital painting. I usually work in PS or Manga Studio. But today I was testing some brush settings of Photo and came up with this quick portrait. I've always tried to emulate the traditional mediums when painting digital, so I tend to work my digital paintings with that natural a la prima feel... working in one layer and mixing pencils and 'gouache'. Here's the result: I think I'll use Photo for more digital painting. It runs pretty smooth and fluid. It is pretty fun to create brushes too, very fewer settings compared with other painting software, but at the same time those boundaries makes you create some nice brushes more quickly. Hope you all dig it!
  3. Ha, ha, ha... I haven't seen a Panini Album since my childhood I laughed so hard

  5. Wow, I cannot thank you enough for that comment, I really appreciate it, It's super inspiring!. I'm putting a lot of love on this project. Thanks again my friend!
  6. Hello everybody, just to let you know that our new character design tutorial is online now. This is a little simpler and shorter than the previous one. I think we could have a balance between simple and complex tutorials. I.e.: 2 easy ones, 1 intermediate, 1 advanced (which implies drawing, composition, more advanced techniques, etc.). Hope you enjoy this one, I'm personally having a blast with all this stuff going on. Please tell me what you think if you have the time to do so. And… last, but not least.., just want to add (casually… ) that our Facebook page feels a little empty without all of you, so if you have 2 minutes to like us HERE… would be really, really awesome!… Thank you all, in advance, hope you have time to take a look and give any opinion you like :)
  7. It reminds me of some old tarot cards illustrations. My grandma used to have one of those decks at her house. I remember spending hours just looking at those scenes. Congrats man, super cool!
  8. Looking awesome. My favorite is the one called: "Die heil anstalt". NIce work.
  9. That's an interesting point of view retrograde. I think I need to try both possibilities… for the close up and dialogue parts, shouldn't be a problem to have front and side views only. The action shots on the other hand, would probably need another treatment... Thanks for the feedback, it always makes one think in another direction :)
  10. Yes!, you've nailed my struggle with this style, the challenge is not to lose the 'flatness' and at the same time it needs to look flat (if that makes sense), because that's the charm of it. In my mind it should look like Zelda the Windwaker, sort of… thanks again for your comment. Gonna be posting the updates here :) Cheers!
  11. Hey CartoonMike, thanks a lot for your feedback. I wasn't quite sure to go about with this style for the project, but your comment has encouraging me to dig deep with this initial exploration. Thanks a lot! :D
  12. Wow Peter, thanks for taking the time. That was a helluva feedback ;) Your comment has fueled me right now, because I'm in the middle of polishing the second tutorial and your words have gave me that extra energy you need when working your own products. This one is gonna be a little shorter, cause I'm trying to find the right balance of information. lots of thanks!
  13. Hello there! Just wanted to share my last work with Affinity Designer. This is part of a series of about 15 characters for a web comic called "We are the Freaks". We're still in the very initial phase of the project. Hope you dig :) as always, all kind of critique would be more than welcome.
  14. After several months of work, Frankentoon website is a reality now and this is the first published tutorial Beardly Morris the Pirate. You can expect the second one this very friday. At the moment the website feels a little bit "empty", 'cause I'm working simultaneously on several tasks to get it 100% complete (design tweaks, SEO, more sections, more information, social media maintenance, etc). As a welcome gift for all new subscribers, I've created a small free vector pack as a direct download delivered to your email. This first pack is already being expanded with more than 20 extra objects. People who's already in, will receive the update in a few days in their inboxes :) . I'm planning to release a free vector pack every 6 weeks. Here's a preview of the first one: Your feedback is very, very, very important at this initial stage, so if you have a couple of minutes to check this tutorial, I will be more than happy with your feedback, good and bad!. I'm specially looking forward to bad feedback in order to improve the site as more as I can, so you can have the best possible user experience in the future. If you have comments about the website, would be awesome too! (mobile version is expected to be done by this friday too, so if you browse this tutorial from a mobile device, would look a little bit weird). Hope you enjoy! :)
  15. Thanks a lot for your comment my friend. I'm working on a couple of these elvish characters and its a little bit challenging to keep away from the clichés, but retaining enough from the archetype to make them easy recognisable :)
  16. Yes, you're totally right. To tell you the truth, I used a D&D character sheet to give this character a background... and it happens that she's an 'Elf Paladin' ... that's why I added the massive sword. But as you pointed out, perhaps takes the lightness off of the elvish archetype. I'll definitely try an elbow! Thanks a lot Sean!
  17. Thanks a lot for your comment. I went for a more feminine look on the second one... you're right, the first version looks less solid as a whole.
  18. Here is a second take on the same character. This time I feel more happy with the result. You can comment on it if you please... I won't bite :)
  19. Hi everybody, I would like to know your sincere opinion on this RPG-like character. For some reason I feel that something's missing, I'm a little bit stuck with this one, It doesn't kill me, you know?… perhaps you could help with an extra pair of fresh eyes on this... I would really, really appreciate your comments :)
  20. Super cool style!. I think - If I may give my opinion -, that the mother's body looks a little bit 'masculine', mainly because of the broad shoulders and chest. The rest of the picture looks fantastic. Congrats!
