Fill patterns always seem a bit clumsy to me, a brush approach always had the drawback tough, that you could not continue an existing pattern without breaking the pattern but Frankentoon somehow solved this issue and it is really amazing how seamlessly (really) the results are :)
Thanks a lot man! :D

Just an update on this topic:
I'm still super behind schedule with this list, but I've finally found some spare time and I'm currently working on two tutorials for this month:
- Using Textures in Affinity Designer (part 2)
- Sketching with Affinity Designer and Pixel Persona
I'll let you know when I got these published on the website :)

Hello there!
I want to share with all this nice community the latest Frankentoon's Franken-Pack: Pattern Painter. Pattern Painter is a cool collection of raster/pixel brushes that can be used either on Designer or Photo... and even cooler, you can use 'em on Photo for iPad :)
I've always liked the idea of painting with patterns, even with software that allows to use pattern fills. I don't know, but I love the experimental and 'crafty' feel that is the joy of brushing in seamless shapes on your canvas. You can combine them, change colors on the fly, layer 'em up for some cool effects...
If you want to know more, click HERE to get more info... (I've created a super fancy and colorful info page for you guys :D ) Hope you all like this pack!

and of course I am seeing stuff like this months late.
well anyway.
can you reply with a link if this is already completed?
I could add you to my next product's testers list if you please. I'm always looking for feedback :)

meaning sth in the line of this ugly-fast example (maybe some css class to overlap that there -keeping it all responsive and etc-), or just an html text link below ("More details") the button and that'd be it, however way.
Again, just a suggestion :)
Hi, thanks for the suggestion. Indeed, there's more info in every link. I should probably change the copy of those buttons :)

Pretty cool Jerol!
Love the subtle use of patterns. I notice a lot of improvement in this particular piece of yours. Congrats :)

is that set still somewhere? would be nice to try out a bit before buying.
Here's a demo pack I published a couple of months ago. The download link is at the bottom of the page.
- Thanks for your advice on my website security, I'll take notes on it for sure.
- Those are pixel brushes. I'll change the address to franken-packs as soon as I can for clarity :)

I totally second this feature! Would speed up some photo-manipulation / matte-painting workflows by 500% :)

Hello there!
I'm currently working on some brushes for a concept art project and I'm trying to create a 'sequenced' brush. Let me explain: I need a brush for drawing background trees, I've isolated like 4-6 trees to have some variation. I'm loading that images as brush nozzles, but they appear in random order (image below).
It's something like: X X O X O X X X O X O X
I NEED total control of this sequence, specially for more complex brushes I'm designing (6-8 nozzles).
I mean, a straight sequence like this: X O X O X O X O X O X O
Would be awesome to have the option for "Random" and "Linear (or something)" brush sequence. Would give MUCH MORE power to this multi-nozzle + texture brush engine :)

Hope this makes sense.

Nice job here Jerol! I like the way you've remixed the pack's elements and added new ones. I specially love the monkeys haha. Cheers!

I strongly second this feature. It's very difficult to do any brush-related work without seeing the cursor.

I just saw this... and I just purchased the brush set.
Imported with no issues. Getting ready to play with it now.
Thanks for the freebies! :)
Thanks a lot mate! I'm sure you're going to have loads of fun with the pack! :D

Hello everyone!
Just wanted to let you know that our new tutorial for Designer is up and running! It shows a quick approach I use all the time for generating quick ideas during my brainstorming sessions. You'll learn how to get the most out of Designer's primitives to sketch concepts faster and never run out of ideas.
This tut includes FREE downloadable work files. Enjoy!

...would like a Krita like set of tools on the buttons of my intuos stylus. Later release hopefully.
...As an aside for those who do not know human children are not nice...
Thanks a lot for such nice comment, means a lot to me! that Krita like set of tools sounds like a sweet idea!
...and that comment about 'human children' just put me to tears haha... they can be pretty scary
Cheers!

All spots are taken! Thanks again for your interest in the project, you rock :D

... this raises my hope about what I wanted to do: use Photo as the painting program. It's a matter of styles, and this illustration matches perfectly on the style I want to develop...
Thanks a lot my friend!
Yes, that's what I'm trying to do. I've been using Clip Studio for bitmap illustration for 4-5 years, but I really like Affinity's workspace and interface, so I'm using AP and AD more and more for this type of 'painterly' works.
-
Did you tweak something special in the brushes? I'm using an IntuosPro but the lines I get are not that smooth...
Nope, no special settings, that jittering (I don't know if that term is correct) happens to me all the time. Those sketches have been worked at a very high resolution, so I suppose that when the images went shrunk down, the pictures gained some quality... but if you look at them at 100%, the lines are not smooth at all.
That 'blocky' effect on the clean strokes, happens very random and that behavior is beyond my comprehension. Below there's a screenshot that I've just made using the very same brush I used for the poster sketches. I've marked with letters the strokes that came out smoother.

As I told you, that 'bug' happens most of the times. I just try go with it. If you want to try this brush, I've attached 2 custom brushes I made for sketching in AD and AP. The brush shown here is the second one.
Cheers!

Just wanted to add: when you convert from RGB to CMYK there's no change (or almost) in the appearance, but when you do it the other way around, all of the colors tend to differ a lot from the original version.

Hi there!
Thanks for asking, actually I'm working on a tutorial showing the basics and practical applications of image textures and pattern brushes in AD, Which is basically the method I've used for the dancer illustration :)
I'll be announcing the release of that tutorial on our Twitter account: @frankentoon please stay tuned!
Cheers!
