"They listened to their users and made EXE-based installers available." EXE-based Installers available, what does that even mean. How about rolling out the software "from the get go" in the same format as Affinity 1. 
 
Long after I got my refund. I paid to have a working program from the get go, not months later. When I asked for my refund they should have notified me that they would be working on a fix, which they did not.
They should have posted a bulleting on this forum letting everyone know that they would fix the issue. Not all this hack utter nonsense that people in here tried to force feed everyone.
If I wanted to download the software now "not even knowing if it would work as it should" I doubt it that they will offer me the initial introductory price.

There is none. I can't use it with dxophotolab. The only way to pin it to your desktop is to pin it to your Taskbar when it initially opens up after you install it. The Affinity 2 and all other Affinity 2 programs will not show up in your programs folder, which is absurd. I have never seen anything like this.

@cybertec69 During opening the app checks to see if any updates are available and will prompt you if you would like to download and install it. This will update the version installed on your system, there is no need to download the exe file.
However if you uninstall the app and want to install it again, this is where you will need to download it again from your store account. The download will be the latest version available at that time.

IMHO the purpose is to make money for Microsoft.  I'm pretty sure they get a cut on everything sold through their "App Store" so they'd like every Windows application to be purchased through that channel.  To that end, they'll try to herd developers into switching to their new setup package, using some combination of carrots and sticks.    They'll tell you it's about security, or convenience, or something else, but in reality there's probably no benefit to anyone but Microsoft.   

I'm here because I simply wanted to add an Affinity button on my new Stream Deck, and it took an act of congress to find out how to do it.  I resent that MS and Affinity want to conceal MY OWN SOFTWARE from me.  It's repugnant.  Affinity tools are nice to have, but strictly speaking, I don't need them.  I'm probably never going to buy anything from them again, just for this act of tyranny.  We can survive without Affinity, but can Affinity survive without us?  I think it may be time to switch to Linux and be done with it.

I have the same problem with DXO Photolab. 

I know Serif moved the files to the Windows 11 starting location. That location isn't available even as an administrator. Changing access rights so DXO can start Affinity does not work.

Fully agreed.  I'm tired of this.  When I buy software, it becomes MY software.  If this is how Affinity is going to act, they'll never see a dime of my money again.  Seriously tired of this bullshit.

My refund is being processed. I wasted enough time with this hot mess of a software rollout. And people need to get to grips that this is not a glitch or a bug in the software but a feature. A Microsoft lockdown software feature. This is why they released it in app form. 

I already emailed them for a refund. I don't have time for this hot mess of a software release. 
I will continue to use Affinity photo one like I have been for years. I set it up with DXOPhotolab2 to DXOPhotolab5 for dxophotolab to send the TIIF file to Affinity photo, as others have done the same with DXO or LR. It was a one time set it and forget it process. 
Affinity or any other software company is not paying me to do software fixes for them. I do photography. 
If your product is flaky I will not use it.

Stop making excuses for Serif and a hot mess of a software release. Especially one that they charge people money for. 

Like many others I have been completely baffled by the upgrade.  I had great faith in all three programs but after a few days I realised that I could not work out where the program files were, and then, that I cannot run Photo via several external programs, such as Faststone (the one I use most).
Not happy.  I would like the programs to be released as normal programs.  Puts me off buying any future upgrades.

I don't think you get to decide what's "useless", Ronny: particularly when the point being made - that we can apparently expect more from a pretty grim piece of Open Source software than we can from a supposedly cutting-edge, customer-focused commercial solution - is precisely to the point.

How about Affinity just make something that works for $100 gimp works and it is free. "No Excesses"  I also will ask for a refund soon is not fixed 🤦‍♂️ Nothing but bugs all the time.

I'm also having issue with Affinity V2 and ACDSee Ultimate 2021.  Not interested in hacking this, been down that road...don't have the time.
Affinity selling a suite of creative tools that have seemless data transfer between suites, should comprehend the importance of 'external editor' connectivity between Affinity Photo and other editors.  My expectation is this gets fixed by Affinity.  I'm retired software analyst, spent most of my technical career developing CAD/CAM software for aerospace.  Also long time photographer, experienced user of digital image editors.  Last summer I tested Affinity Photo V1 against DxO, Capture One, Corel PSP, ON1.  Affinity performed well against their peer competitors in my testing.  Affinity has been a great platform for me, I'd really hate to transition to another tool set, but I need this external editor functionality to work, to access and work on my image assets from my DAM (ACDSee).  This is functionality that works in every other editor/viewer I've reviewed and tested.   I can work around this for now waiting for a fix.  I'll move on to a better tool for my workflow if it doesn't.  Thanks Affinity.

Phooey, that ruins my workflow using my DAM as a gateway. Hope that Affinity:Serif can provide a solution before too long. Lessons learned: don't be an early adopter - more haste, less speed. My fingers are firmly crossed for a prompt solution, Serif!!

I have 14 days for a refund. I have never seen anything like this with any software. This glaring issue needs to be addressed asap.

Still, it's saved me the cost of the upgrade, when the trial expires that's me finished with Serif

... just to document ... I also use DXO and can't find a way of exporting to Affinity Photo2. Hope this will be fixed soon. Until then I will continue the use of Affinity Photo V1 ...
