Francky reacted to Kasper-V in Flamingos illustration / wallpaper
It looks very like a piece of marquetry, with the simple shapes and -- especially -- the colours. Nice composition too.
Sorry Francky -- I can't think of anything negative to say about it!

Francky got a reaction from Wosven in Flamingos illustration / wallpaper
Hello Affinity fans
Today I drawn flamingos, interesting long-legged birds.
I have made not use of textures, patterns, pixel layers or brushes, I just wanted a very simple illustration, just shapes, pen and gradients.
Give a look at the illustration, drawn in Affinity Designer and tell me what do you think, leave your feed backs, write positive and negative

Francky reacted to paolo.limoncelli in DAUB LiquidInk Tools and Macros
Hi Folks!
Here I am with a freebie.
This little project starts from the need to have a tool that mimics ink tension and viscosity.
In order to do this, and make it easy to use in AffinityPhoto I needed macros, and finally these are there!
You need AP 1.5.x in order to make it work!
Download the package here
How this combo works
The technique relies on Adjustment Curves and some special tools designed to keep anything non destructive.
Tools are simple stupid brushes that together with custom ramps deliver a viscosity effect on crossing lines, resulting in a credible feathering effect.
This happens only if used together with the layer stack generated by included macros.
To use them import both Macros (from Library Studio) and Tools available in the package, create a new document and click one of the effects (Ink and Wet Ink) form the Library Studio.
AP will create a layer stack composed of the adjustment, a fill layer (needed to make this adjustment work) and a pixel layer which is where you want to paint.
These tools are designed to work best for black inking.
If you want you can play with other colours too, just be aware of the clipped results you will obtain.
You can always re-colour your layer with further adjustments.
Hope you'll enjoy!

Francky reacted to SrPx in Realistic drawing with Affinity Designer
Me too! But...meanwhile, I was able in literally every company to use my set of tools, or most of them. Specially had triple pressure to demonstrate that it was a valid tool (Wings3D specially comes to mind, but also did with Blender and for some tasks, Inkscape.) Which I liked, as I like challenges.
Well, there might not be any action in using users made art for promoting the tools (IMO there's quite some legal stuff in the middle, might not be easy). I can think already of several jewels around that speak for themselves more than any promotional video (specially among professionals) . But trust me, any serious artist / whatever graphic worker that comes here, sees this design (specially if gets to see the original, too) and reads specifically the paragraph I just quoted above, which is obviously not the result of some internal deal or stuff, is a plain testimony of someone just getting ninja level (is very obvious that you were already Ninja with Illustrator ) with this tool in just a few months... Well, I'd look nowhere else, and would get the entire suite, to be sincere.

Thank you SrPx.
A short history of my last months:
On October 2016 my colleague at job told me about a new couple of programs, they are Affinity Photo and Designer.
I was always searching for new programs that can suite my work.
While trying the 10 days demo, I was astonished by the potentiality, features, user experience and intuitively of the two programs.
Most of the ux is even better than Adobe.
I dream of a world where you are valued just by the quality of your final works, independently of which software packages you use.
In other words, Illustrator was too expensive, Inkscape yet too spartan even if it has potential, but Affinity is my final choice, I bought it.
