Thanks! The desktop dialog does have a Colour Picker so I'll get an improvement added.
This has always been the case with Global Colours since they were introduced. Generally if a colour is an attribute of an object (such as the case with vector objects) it is possible to use Global Colours, but if you've using that colour on a pixel layer then those pixels have been committed already and makes it next to impossible to modify them. 

For example if you're brushing with a colour using a smooth brush then the pixels will be of differing values to achieve the feather. Not to mention using filters on certain selections will then modify the pixel's original colour, or even pixel brushes which modify a HSL value using pressure

No, there’s no need to change each colour manually. Just swipe across from one swatch to the other.  (Swiping from right to left sometimes works for me, but swiping from left to right seems to work more consistently.)

Photo (release version) crashes if you tap Geometry Add with a blank canvas or only one shape. Didn’t get to test this on the beta so flagging it here. 🙂

In your second screenshot the Pixel layer is cropped to (i.e. masked by) the ellipse. In your first screenshot the ellipse is clipped to the Pixel layer: for masking instead of clipping, drag the ellipse and drop it onto the thumbnail of the Pixel layer.

Trap for beginners.... the filters are listed under Adjustments. If you scroll to a specific menu other than Adjustments, you get the 'saved' filters. There are very few that have saved entries, as you can see from the one you accessed, Just go to Adjustments and look down the list till you see Selective Filter. Tap that and you,re ready to go. 😁

Are you serious it’s been 3 years how come this is not a resolved issue already even procreate let you create pallets from pictures and add them. I am not saying it is easy but after 3 years it should be done already.

I think a lot of the help info was copied over from Desktop version. There are a few other 'anomalies' that you will come across. Rulers will hopefully make it to the next release, along with import palettes etc.

I wonder if you can save the frame text style as a symbol. If so, edits to one would apply to all.

You are using Affinity Photo, Text On Curve officially only works on Affinity Designer. However the functionality has now been added to the V1.9 Beta of Affinity Photo on iPad.
Unofficially you can use TextOnCurve macro in Affinity Photo V1.8, search these groups for my Mud’s Macros.afmacros, install it and you will find the macro to give you that functionality.
Since you are using AP you also have the advantage to use the mesh warp filter as an alternative.
 
 

Just to let you know, after the latest ipadOS (14.3) upgrade the import is working as expected again. The same RAF (NEF) pictures in portrait mode that wouldn't import before now imports just fine.

I am able to crash Designer every time as follows. Create some rectangles, add global colours. Works fine. Now select a rectangle and with that rectangle layer selected select global colour and tap add colour (without adjusting the colour wheel). App crashes. Note if colour wheel is adjusted before adding the global colour it works.
Edit. Easier still. Found it crashes ANY time you add global colour WITHOUT changing the colour wheel position before pressing add button. Don’t need to draw anything.

Possibly, but I would have thought the ability to 'create' a global colour by sampling an existing design colour would be a no brainer. At the moment we need to create a global colour, then edit it in order to sample the designs colour. An unnecessary step? But it’s early days and shouldn’t be too difficult to add the dropper to both menus. 😁

Unfortunately that is not really 'saving'. It updates the sandbox file but you need to use the Save menu option to create an afdesign file that can be copied, backed up, moved and shared. I thoroughly recommend changing you work flow so that immediately after creating a file, return to the project/Home Screen and tap the 3bar menu below your projects icon. Tap Save to create a real file in your default save folder (iPad or cloud depending on settings). Now when you edit, use the Document Save menu regularly.  Make a backup copy of the file in the default folder so that you have a recent copy shound the worst happen.

My laser printer is at the point where, if I shell out $$$ for a new toner cartridge, the cartridge may outlive the printer. I’ll check out those 3700’s.

The effect that you describe will occur if the text is from another source. I can’t imagine why it would happen if you’re simply typing new text, but either way you can work around the problem by selecting a piece of text which doesn’t have the unwanted background colour, copying it and then using the ‘Paste Style’ command to correct the formatting of the affected text object.

Maybe try inpainting brush and clone tool to remove unwanted items. Use selection (highlights) and add curves adjustment to selection. Attached a rough sample file so you can see effects.
