Thank you, very very much.

DM1 got a reaction from Angelos58 in Affinity Photo: sharpness and blending of a selection
There are two filters that can help remove the dark or light aura that sometimes shows around the selection when a new background layer is added. These are the Remove Black Matte and Remove White Matte filters. It helps blend the image to new background by reducing the darker (or lighter) pixels around the edges of the selection.

DM1 reacted to Paul Mudditt in Constrained Resize requires selection before single finger
When you go to resize with the apple pencil, so long as you do not lift pencil from the resizing node you chose then when you place a finger on you should see that the shape reverts to its previous constrains. For example, draw a square by drawing a rectangle, the moment you add a finger the rectangle will become a square again since that is the default constraint on the rectangle tool.
So don’t worry that the shape changes when you select the node, as soon as you place your finger on the screen, the shape will snap back to its previous constrained shape. It does work like desktop shift but you simply apply it after selecting a resize node first on the iPad.

DM1 got a reaction from augustya in Getting a Transparent Rectangle on Affinity Photo for iPad ?
If you 'open' an image (raw/jpg/png/tiff) it is brought in as a pixel layer. If you 'Place' an image or use an image from the Stock Studio then it open as an 'image' layer. You can't edit an image layer so you have to rasterise it, then it becomes a pixel layer. Rasterise and Trim simply sizes the image to the canvas size.

I guess you could create the Gradient pixel layer and save as a template. The new you can open template and add your image, save as jpg etc and repeat for next photo.

Many iPad apps have this capability but the affinity iPad developers appear unable/unwilling to implement such a feature or communicate why.

DM1 got a reaction from Alfred in Can’t view photos in files
Yep, you have mentioned it before😂. I’m sure the devs have taken note and are currently working frantically to resolve the issue. Oh wait, no - apparently, 'it’s by design' gets them off the hook.
Seriously though, Open/import from Files (or Folder) might be a better choice?

DM1 got a reaction from Paul Mudditt in Does iPad backup contain also ALL affinity designer files AND projects?
That’s a very bad way to store your files.🙀 There are many instances where sandboxed files become corrupted and cannot be opened. In such cases you have no recourse to a backup. I suspect that every time you load Affinity Designer, you are also loading all your files so that they appear on Home Screen. That’s probably tying up ram the app could make better use of.
A few hours spent saving your files outside the app (creates afdesign files) may save you a lot of heartache later. The afdesign files can be copied and saved anywhere, and are just as easily accessed.
Apps - since iOS 9 backups include user data of apps, but not the apps themselves. They are re-downloaded from the App Store when restoring a backup. https://imazing.com/guides/what-data-is-included-in-an-ios-backup -

I’m sure it’s been mentioned before (perhaps by me!) that ‘Open/Import from Cloud’ is a bit misleading, since it sounds as though it’s only for files which are not on your iPad.

DM1 got a reaction from Don Richie in Automatic revert
Sorry to hear you are having problems. Designer definitely shouldn’t be behaving that way! A few questions to help with problem solving.
Is this a new install?
Has it worked previously?
Does it effect all files or just the one?
Its always a good idea to do a hard reset of the iPad when you experience troubles. This will clear ram of any leftovers and often fixes problems.

DM1 got a reaction from satchmo in Unwanted white box appearing behind text [iPad]
Workaround until affinity gives us a colour toggle in UI:
To get rid of coloured background in pasted text you can open a new text box, type a few letters, select the text box and in edit menu select Copy. Now select the box with coloured background to and use Edit menu paste style. The clear background from your text box will replace the coloured background.
The recording shows copy/pasted text from Safari with white background. I added a new text box with its default clear background. The red rectangle just highlights the text box background colours. In the end you can see they are both clear.

DM1 got a reaction from MoonaticDestiny in WHAT IS THE DEVELOPMENT TEAM DOING?
I think it’s a fair question. What are the developers doing? Do they not have a team dedicated to the iOS apps?
We have many bugs being reported again and again. Often the same bug reported multiple times because there is no user accessible concise numbered list of reported bugs. Many reports are 'bumped' by Mods to try and get some action going with developers. Again no feedback to indicate bumping has actually resulted in the bug getting some attention.
There does not 'appear' to be a 'process' for prioritising action to fix reported bugs. I’m guessing that there must be some sort of process, but if so it lacks communication of progress to end users and, I suspect mods are just as in the dark as us when it comes to what is being fixed.
Updates and releases don’t provide a full list of fixes either. Worse still, some updates reintroduce previously 'fixed' bugs.
From a users perspective, many basic feature requests made over the past few years continue to be completely ignored.
I’d say 'all in all, development for iOS has always appeared to be a bit of a dogs breakfast', and yes, that might indeed be considered ranting 😂.

DM1 reacted to Alfred in Is there a way to permanently disable spellchecking in Designer and Photo on iPad?
There should be! It might be helpful to have a separate setting for each document, but a global setting would probably suffice for most of us.

DM1 got a reaction from Chinck in Affinity Designer on 2021 iPad Pro Node and handle missing
It looks and behaves as expected on my iPad..
If it has done this from day one and effects all files, I’d suggest first doing a hard reset to clear ram and if that doesn’t fix it you might need to remove and reinstall the app. If it comes to removing the app you will need to Save any work you want to keep (saving takes the file out of protected app sandbox and creates a .afdesign file that can be accessed by Files etc. The saved files will need to be moved out of the Designer folder if on iPad as deleting the app deletes the local Designer folder too. If on iCloud they won’t get deleted.

Use can use Save in Document menu while working, or use Save in the Home Screen (3bars below the projects icon. The file will be saved to your default save Designer folder (iPad or iCloud depending on setting). Use the Add files to add it to a post.

OK, did a "Hard Restart", the new iPad did not work with the hardware "ON, OFF" switch, I tried holding it down for a few minutes(a few times) but nothing happen, have to go in to General >Setting and ask to "Shut Down".
After shout down for a minute, I hold down the hardware switch to turn it on and Thank you so much it work and I got the Node now.
DM1 thanks a lot, you been a great help.
Now I can enjoy using my iPad.

DM1 reacted to lumaluke in To make the Histogram more convenient!
Hello there.
When I process a raw photo, I need to always see the histogram.
But unfortunately it is visible only on the Basic Studio tab.
When changing parameters in other Studios, the histogram also changes, but it is not visible there and it is easy to get clipping.
After every parameter change in one studio, I have to switch to the Histogram in Basic Studio to check.
It is very uncomfortable.
Could the developers make the histogram a undockable floating palette?
The second request is to place the options for choosing the color channels of the Histogram not in the drop-down menu, but to the right of the name itself, since there is enough space (see the attached picture).
Thanks so much for the excellent app!

DM1 reacted to Paul Mudditt in File management
You really should change to use iCloud to store your work so that is easily accessible on your desktop.
There is no sync across iPad and Desktop apps, create a folder structure in iCloud and save your work there. You can then open your work on the other device from that location. Just remember to close your work after saving before opening on the other device. This is true irrespective of whether you are going Desktop to iPad or iPad to Desktop. Projects on your Affinity home screen are like tabs open on the desktop version. Make sure to close otherwise you will be working on 2 different versions of your project.

DM1 got a reaction from Paul Mudditt in Maintaining in camera settings in RAW
Raw by its nature has no adjustments applied. If you export from camera as jpg with adjustments applied etc the image will open in photo same look as on camera.
Alternatively you can load the fuji x trans LUTs which includes Astia, mono and Provia etc, and apply them in Photo to get same result as in camera.🙂
Edit: I have attached a set of fuji x trans iii LUTs that you an import into affinity photo. They are shown below.

DM1 reacted to mediumcheese in Save to iCloud does not work (iOS 15.1 / iPad Pro 4th gen)
Running into the same issue. Saving a document and it doesn't show up in my iCloud folder in Windows 10. Also tried exporting as SVG and still nothing.
Tried to force a sync by changing a filename in Windows, but the files still didn't show up.
EDIT: After exporting to SVG and emailing it to myself and then saving it to my iCloud Drive subfolder I was trying to save to in the first place, it finally synced and showed the afdesign file
