DM1 got a reaction from Ewa in Problems with exporting a file in affinity designer
The file opens fine on my iPad Pro 10.5 but not generating PDF. I will see if I can find what is causing it.

Have you tried using synchronised symbols?

Hi Kate, did you try using one of the Serif presets ‘UI Design’, I now see their strength and use them a lot rather than simply turning everything on.

DM1 got a reaction from Paul Mudditt in Help in precision
Lol, I can barely see them, let alone work out what they do! This one could be really useful though (apart from bug). Also doesn’t mention it in Help file but double tap crosshair on screen to reset position.

DM1 got a reaction from Angelos58 in Help in precision
I was reading my Help file (no really I was), and I noticed that there is a switch to adjust the rotation point. When you select an object, you tap ‘ Show Rotation Point' (the little crosshair symbol, top right of Context menu) and a cross hair appears in the centre of your object. You can drag this crosshair to set the rotation point outside the object. It produces the same result as drawing the invisible line to get a new rotation point. This is great apart from the fact that there appears to be a bug that causes the Transform Studios anchor point setting to override the Show Rotation Point Setting. At the moment we can't type the degree of rotation but you can move it manually. If they fix this it should operate like 'Centre, setting on Desktop. I think that’s what it’s called but not having a desktop version I can’ be sure. If you have it you will know what I am referring to.

DM1 got a reaction from Angelos58 in Color Palettes and color substitution
If you create a symbol from your object(s), then reuse that symbol within your document, updating any symbol will update the other applications of that symbol. I was thinking that if you have a repetitive pattern, it may be possible to set up each part of the pattern as a symbol, then reuse the symbols to complete the patterns rather than redrawing the pattern objects. I haven't tried this but imagine it would work.

DM1 reacted to Paul Mudditt in Transform Text
I have had no problems rotating text around a central point in this example. I created the top text JAN on a circle then simply duplicated and rotated by 360/12 degrees 11 times, finally select each text layer and edit the JAN to FEB, MAR etc

Thanks
I found the key.
The layer related to this issue was inside a group.
I opened the group and selected the layer and it was ok.

DM1 reacted to LionelD in Questions about Symbols in Affinity Designer iPad
Thanks, very pleased to get an answer even if it’s not what I hoped for.
Although I believe I know Photoshop very well, AD iPad is the only digital illustration app I know at all, and my knowledge of AD is very limited. In my opinion Symbols are a sophisticated and very elegant reincarnation of Photoshop’s Smart Objects - and I have thousands of illustrations/pattern tiles crafted in Photoshop. I hope Serif continues developing Symbols because they provide a simple, elegant way of introducing various forms of symmetry into designs.

Lionel

It takes an iPad user to recognize an iPad photo! The last Apple computer I have ever used was an Apple II. I doubt if they would run Affinity Photo.

Many thanks for your feedback, it is appreciated. I'll be certain to pass it through to our development team.
We're currently developing version 1.7 for iPad and we hope to bring batch processing and macro creation to the iPad in this version, we'll have more information available shortly.
Filename retention and export presets have been requested previously on our forums and our developers are currently looking into this, many thanks for your continued patience here!

DM1 reacted to stephentuso in Material design asset pack
Here is a collection of assets created from the material design sticker sheet obtained here: https://material.google.com/resources/sticker-sheets-icons.html
Could use a little more work, but I've added constraints to the lists, UI bars, and tabs. Most of the shadows are currently bitmaps. I had issues with some text boxes becoming the wrong size when the group was turned into an asset, so artistic text is used in some places where a text frame would be more appropriate.
I couldn't find a license anywhere for the sticker sheet, so feel free to modify and share or use however you want, however, please don't redistribute as an asset pack while charging a price (sharing for free is fine).
If you want to share any changes/improvements, I'd appreciate it if you posted them to this thread.
An example I quickly made with some of the assets is below.

Thanks, I think I have sorted it. I seemed to have every layer selected at the time. So deselected the others and it worked. Thanks

DM1 got a reaction from katerlouis in Help understand masking in iOS AP please
I have found a potential workaround for fast switching between black and white when masking, and that involves the use of the pixel brush. In the context menu set the primary colour to black and secondary colour to white. Press the 'Alternate' symbol to swap between the two while painting on the mask.

All, credit for Shortcuts to Paul Mudditt, he's the one who pointed me to this.
As to Serif and feedback, yes they monitor this site.

DM1 reacted to Alfred in Scandinavian alphabets
There’s no Glyph Browser in the iPad apps, but you can indeed change the keyboard language. However, even with only an English keyboard active you can simply ‘long-press’ on a key to access supplementary characters such as Ä, Å and Ö.

DM1 got a reaction from LeslieHedgesDesign in Having trouble exporting SVG.
When erasing I have found that drawing a vector shape and using Edit menu,Geometry, subtract works well. Or simply paint on background with the vector brush, use Expand stroke on brush stokes and then use the subtract. The result remains a pure vector so no pixelation when exporting as svg.
I'm not sure why but it doesn't appear possible to subtract grouped curves which makes the process a bit messy.

Save file to iCloud or Dropbox or On my iPad then open from other package. Or drag and drop as in my screen recording.
