@Komatös Can you please tell us where you find the vector fill in Affinity Designer V2?

For the beginners in the room, I'd love a little link to explain how Regular Expressions work. I love documentation though, just me.

It may be helpful to indicate the current in/visible state of the query by a different colour of the eye icon...

Yes. That is an empty Picture Frame, which should not be visible on the export. We would need to see the Layers panel to understand why it's empty. But in any case it should not appear on the export or in Preview mode.

I corrected my pervious post.  I meant "Relink".  the button confusingly changes states depending upon the situation, I would prefer it if there were buttons for both "Relink" and "Update" with one or the other greyed out, but I get that UI simplification is a trend...
    Regarding the Relinking attempt :
When I said "this does not work" I meant that when I set it up for "Downloads\490x470 Icons DARK" as per my screenshot in the previous post, and click "Select Folder" It dismisses the dialog but the linked files are still shown as Missing, yes Walt.

Quite. As always, proper vector fills (filling a vector shape with a vector pattern) is a pretty fundamental feature. That is the subject of this 13 page post. The lack of this feature if you need it (as I and many others do) makes it impossible to transition to the otherwise capable AffinityDesigner.
The whole point of using a vector illustration package must be to be able to do everything with vectors. Hatching using a bitmap fill, for example, is definitely no substitute.

In addition, my strong need is that the fill is proportionally distorted as the object shape is manipulated.  Wishlist for my ongoing project commitments.

I wonder, though. This topic is about Vector Fills, but the Help for this new function includes this:
So this still does not seem to give us vector pattern fills, that remain vectors.

With the false anchor present, I get the warning message from Preflight. With the false anchor deleted, or a space inserted in front of it, the message also goes away.

If I'm interpreting that correctly, you replaced the colon you had copied/pasted with a new colon, and a space.
That might indicate there was something odd about the initial colon character. If you can still recreate this, it might be interesting to select both of the colon characters in the text, and then use Text > Toggle Unicode (Alt+U on Windows) to see if both characters are the same.

    Hi @walt.farrell
Thank you for the handy Alt + U trick.  I checked all the colons and they were all U+003A, but I managed to dig a little deeper and believe I have this bug 100% reproduceable.
I put the explanation on the "Publisher 2 Bug found on Windows" Subforum.
    Thanks again for your help!

If you were following this thread for the cheat sheet updates,
I created a new thread and cheat sheet for version 2 of the Affinity apps.
    Check it out below!

Maybe so. There are a lot of others who found it just as frustrating as I did at the start, so, yeah, maybe they did change it and just forgot to tell us. Thanks for your time anyway.

    Hello,
With version 2 of the Affinity apps comes with not only new layers interface, but also new layer drop zones and new UI feedback (blue highlights).
I updated the cheat sheet to reflect these changes to help anyone who is looking for better understanding on how layers behave when dragged within the layers panel.  Original post for version 1 of the cheat sheet here.
This is a basic guide.  It does not address all the possibilities of non-destructive masks, multi-nested layers, etc.  There are many complex possibilities.  I hope it serves to get you on the right track to understanding the foundations of layers in the Affinity Apps.
    Here is a PDF version:
    Layers Panel Cheat Sheet v4.2.pdf
Note that my example uses the light UI.  I did not create one for the dark UI, but the principles and feedback are the same.

So I gotta say, in 2023 I'm kinda sad Designer's default pressure sensitivity for Wacom tablets is still kinda terrible  I love the program for most things (I only do design work sometimes.) For most things I love it way more than I ever did Illustrator, but moving from Illustrator or Procreate to actually drawing with a stylus is just... really bad. I'm literally having to remind myself that I'm not shit at drawing because the way that the default settings render lines drawn from my Wacom make it look like I have some sort of hand tremor. The ends of lines end up being big small big small and have weird sharp corners, generally the stroke in between the start and end points look fine, but... I just don't see why even if this is an accurate impression of what the wacom is giving Designer whoever actually programmed it wouldn't just realize that within the first 5 and last 5 percent of a stroke, nobody is going to want to have their pressure fluctuate up and down by significant amounts?
Like if you connect a Wacom to Illustrator, set pressure as the variable  and give yourself a moderately sized brush it just feels elegant. Procreate too. But Affinity Designer? I feel like it's not even worth trying to use my Wacom with it.

Unfortunately as a user only I don't know why you see a limited menu … and I can't remember having been disabled from editing an older post of mine. It feels odd in particular since you are the thread author.
It would be nice and helpful to have a moderator pinning an FAQ about handling the forum software, possibly separate from this rather legal disclaimer, or in its first chapter "Briefly" or in the related short header of the Q&A forum. Not only for situations like this but for also / for instance especially to new users it often seems to be confusing if they are requested by users but not allowed to upload files without knowing or being told by experienced users the limitations or rules for various member states.

@thomaso Thank you for spotting this glitch.
I also noticed that the PDF is only supposed to be the one page, and it exported some of the early legacy pages from Affinity Designer version 1.x, so I fixed that as well, making for a much smaller file.
See original post above for the updated version!

    Very helpul, thank you!
Could you please check the gradient mask at "4. Rectangle Mask", it seems to be missing in the PDF file (Acrobat and Apple Preview) and does not show this rectangle object at position Q when opened in Affinity (APub V1) (as if this mask was an invisible layer during export or exported with "Rasterize: Nothing").
