bor got a reaction from blackbird9 in Affinity products for Linux
Overall thinking, this is a shame, there is no really good software (beside Krita and Blender) that can produce print ready results.
I understand, linux users would love to have an open source alternative, and that Serif as a company need to make money, as they develop great apps, and neet it to get company running, and earn - this is perfectly fine.
I understand standpoint that *some* of Linux users whoes says that on that system souldn't be any paid software (or at least commercial in any form), in the end this is fully opened source envirioment (beside some examples like enterprise solutions etc.). Just look at problems with graphic card drivers, You need to install *proprietary * drivers alone in some distros, and on some this is just impossible to do, cause the open-source nature.
I also understand, that Serif is worried about small Linux userbase that would buy software on Linux, and that they cannot get back money and reources invested to port their software. And also that, there is so many Linux flavours, hardvare combinations etc. that would have negative influence on porting software. Just imagine situation when users buys software and it's laggy or evend to not run, on system just because there is some differencies in kernels/x-driver or something else.
But I cannot understand that *any* of big players on graphic design software companies field, cannot  at least try to make Linux users life easier, trough a ports or at least improve usage by helping Wine team.
Personally I think that would give only good PR, and first company that step inside Linux world, would be for first a pioneer, and for second *winner* on that field, which could be a perminent trend, an maybe which some time earn new userbase. I know many fellow indie gamedevs, working strongly in Linux space, and having only second partition with Windows for graphic workflow, and they would love to play around only on Linux.
And now Me, for most time I'm a proffesional graphic designer (working in this industry over 15 years), but in recent time as a hobby rather than a job, I'm building mobile apps and games, mostly working on them on Linux, and this would be perfect when i wasn't forced to reboot to second os every time when i need to modify or make new assets. So - yes, I would love to see Affinity software on Linux platform.
Sorry for a long post, but this is only my thinking about this case.

A lady across the road asked me to help her produce an omega watch face which is to be printed onto edible paper for a birthday cake, and seeing as I have no work on, I thought I'd have a go at illustrating one from scratch so I can add it to my online portfolio http://www.bingercreative.co.uk , Im pretty happy with how it's turned out so thought I'd post it

I Feel the same, Adobe is for long time on the market and peoples used it for years, and simply they will not switch to learn new ways to do stuff, and for last - this is a big suite, nowdays graphic designer is NOT just a graphic designer, it's more obvious to be motion designer also (After Effects, Animate CC) or Video Editor (Premiere Pro). Adobe has solutions for that and for that simple reason switching is a such problem. My freelance worklfolw right now looks like so: AD and AP for graphic design, Davinci Resolve for video editing but Adobe with his After Effects and InDesign still remains. And those two last program keeping me to continue beign screwd by ~63E per month subscription.
If You know any good alternative to AE, please let me know.

Until there is no replacement for InDesign, I can't afford to completely switch out of Adobe. Simply as that.

Nice artwork, it reminds me game called "Samorost" (See examples at Google images), which I've loved for the artwork.

Another piece is a logo for my small project.
PACZ STUDIO (reads as: PATCH STUDIO in Polish, and it's transle as  fonetic LOOK/WATCH STUDIO) is my new investment into myself, but this is story for another time
I made it simple, and bold for reasons.
If You have any suggestions, feel free to comment, but right now I don't think I'll be changing anything about it.

OK, so there is some possibilities like:
Merging all purchuised software into one (like a hub) Making easier switch to "Edit originals" Fully featured editors inside Publisher like: Raster and Vector Editors More awesome solution, we don't even imagine... I hope, in AP there will be functions like:
Fast and robust preflight (this is must have) View Modes (from fast previews up to print previews) Ability to work on hundreds pages without problems (well optimized) Spell checking (in many languages) Many master pages Tool like data merge (or it's better brother :)) Styles for: Objects, paragraphs, characters and so on Easy end fast media containers to use Advanced font and acharacter proporties Saving and exporting in background Clean grouping solution Easy link manager   And also I am affraid of:
If it would be as powerfull as we love to be, have many great features AND would be integrated with other software (damn You @MattP) AP would be  much expensive than rest of Affinity software family, or it would be insubscription plan. If not, holly molly, there will be no brainer to switch for Affinity in whole.

Hey there, from time to time I will post some of my pictures, so feel free to visit and put some feedback.
All presented works are made for fun - my commercial works stay where they belong for now.
First image is done quite quickly about 40-50min in AD, and as You can see there is still problem witch jagged lines (fast drawed lines like on sweter).
Here is Jerzy Kukuczka, one of greatest Himalaist of all time.
