Thanks for clearing that up. Yes, it seems to plateau at around 2.0 to 2.3 Gigs for me, for a few simple RAW develop/JPEG exports. Regards

I had made an earlier thread regarding performance issues here, and I don't know what's happening with that. I've been using Affinity in 1minute short bursts since then if really necessary, and Capture One for most other things. I'm hoping 1.7.2 brings some good news. Anyway, I've noticed something odd by chance. I've no idea if this is intended or a bug, but Affinity Photo seems to have issues with releasing/flushing RAM. You fire it up, it takes about 130-135MB. You open a RAW it takes up around 1.4 GB. You develop the RAW and do some Photo Persona editing, and it takes around 1.5 to 2.0 GB depending on what you did. You close the file/cancel it all, and it stays there, never releasing the RAM. Is this intentional?

I made a similar topic. Mine doesn't happen at random though. It takes a few minutes of working on a RAW (maybe it happens with other things too, but that's my usual workflow), and then Affinity just starts crawling/freezing, taking the entire system performance down with it. Don't know what's up.

Nothing is running that didn't before. The task manager itself takes about a minute to populate after that. If I leave it be for like 3-4 minutes, then the laptop starts responding normally again. As I said, it never happens immediately. It builds up over time. I have reinstalled Affinity to no avail. Happens with only the latest release version. 1.6.5 ran for hours without a single hitch. Everything else runs fine, Capture One, DaVinci Resolve, you name it. As it stands, it's pretty much unusable for anything but 30 second casual edits. I have tried to narrow it down to a specific edit or filter that triggers it, but that seems to be irrelevant. It seems to be only dependent on time.

Recently updated to the 1.7.1 official release. This doesn't seem to happen with jpegs, but if I develop a RAW (this is also much slower than before) and then maybe work for more than 3-4 minutes in the Photo persona, then the system starts crawling. It almost feels like a memory leak or something. Even if I manage to somehow close Affinity, the problem doesn't go away. The entire system crawls. I have to restart. 1.6.5 was snappy, really snappy. For clarity, by crawl I mean...click on a tab and wait 30 sec for the pull down, wait about 2 minutes for a simple curves merge. Should I just roll back to 1.6.5? My laptop; Win 10, Core i7 6700hq, 16gig RAM, GTX 960m. Regards

Thanks for the response. That's understandable. I just found it surprising that a bug introduced by a beta hasn't been addressed for three straight releases. Good luck with ironing the bugs out. Eagerly awaiting the 1.6 release. Cheers.

Installed, uinstalled again, for the third time in a row. DoF blur filter still loops, taking the entire system for a spin. Are these bugs not being reported to the developers?

Downloaded the beta today. Opens faster and feels snappier overall, esp in Develop. Uninstalled though...will wait for the stable release. DoF blur filter simply loops. Can't do anything, other than kill AP from the task manager (saw it touch 100% usage the third time I killed it). Becomes unresponsive with Lighting filter now and then, for like 5-10 seconds. Same with zooming and panning. Context Menu file opening results in unhandled exception error 1 out 3 times. But this problem exists with the 1.5 release version too. Thank you! It's a reversed 50mm prime for the first shot. The other two are on a reversed 18-55 kit lens (at 35 or maybe a little less, can't remember exactly). It's a Rebel T6/1300d (my first DSLR).

Hi all, New to AP. Relatively new to serious photography as well, but it has always been a hobby. First of all...big thanks to the Serif team for providing such a professionally crafted app at such an amazing price. Eagerly awaiting what's in store for the future.
