  1. hi, looks all well. I get exports with transparency. Preview uses black matte even if this is disabled for export - it has to use some background, cant cut wholes into the ipad display. can you share the actual afphoto file? how exactly do you export, share or ok button?
  2. It is only a temporary rendering issue inside the app - not affecting exports. There are much more (and more severe) rendering issues. If you merge visible, and zoom in 400% to 1000%, the rendering is correct! PS: Have a look at this file. It shows totally false colors while zooming.
  3. Here you go. Agree that there is the 1/2 resolution issue at certain places. But I see this only in screenshots (not in real live).
  4. To be absolutely honest: I see the quality issue raised by @Renate RS, but I'm still unable to reproduce it on my devices. That quality issue is a (temporary?) rendering at 1/2 of the resolution, in x-axis. I have seen a similar issue on Windows, where it could take several seconds (up to about 20 in my experiments) until the mipmap showed full resolution. This was mainly GPU driver related. I made a screen recording, extracted individual image frames, and compared them to exactly analyse the timeline. It is possible that similar things happen under MacOS. For me it is important that this is not a general bug affecting all users. Affinity works (with respect to the topic listed here) flawlessly on all my devices, but it seems you, Renate RS and others might be affected under still not clear cirsumstances.
  5. below screenshots with main display to 1920x1200 Dell 2408. Quality is still 100% as expected. You can verify of you load the images to photo, activate 1x1px grid, and zoom in. The images exactly covers the display, and leaves the expected black edges top/bottom. Except the scrollbar.
  6. Just do give an update: even with a full HD Monitor (actually 1920x1200) (in parallel to 5K Monitor), I get no issues to render text / fonts. Everything is as it should be.
  7. This lets me assume that it is a MacOS thing: MacOS does present a kind of virtual display resolution to apps, hiding the physical actual size. https://www.theregister.com/2021/12/03/apple_m1_drivers/
  8. The search list in google shows a hint: But if i click the link, no information can be found in the linked page. Maybe the content was changed, and google kept an old cached entry.
  9. A mask is a subtype of pixel layer (meaning:bitmap content, no vector content), and rasterizing means converting to bitmap layer (either pixel or mask). So both are kind of equivalent in this specific case.
  10. Hi, if you want to re-adjust gradients at a later time, you could keep the layer as fill layer or rectangular shape, and nest it to the masking position (move over layer thumbnail) without rasterizing. No need to rasterize for usage as mask. But there is a catch: to use a vector shape as mask, you need to adjust the color opacity/transparency value (not the color / lightness).
  11. To catch awareness of mods, i created a bug report. If you are affected by this issue, it would make sense to post your comments in the linked thread: Bug reports in the questions section may stay unnoticed.
  12. Hi, as several users alteady reported in the questions section: Designer ignores pixel as unit set in documents and settings (Text in Points off).
  13. i don‘t know if OS preferences, Font smoothing is still relevant. You may give it a try - even if Affinity uses own font rendering engines. https://osxdaily.com/2018/09/26/fix-blurry-thin-fonts-text-macos-mojave/ OS updates tend to occasionally reset or change user preferences without informing users.
  14. I just updated from 12.4 to 12.5 last night and will test on MacOS later today, and share the results. I have a good old Dell 2409 FullHD display in storage, and may try this non-retina display, too, besides my 4K and 5K displays. Unfortunately, MacOS does some arcane „retina“ math with my 5K display and shows apps not the native resolution. Let’s see.
  15. I opened your file, by default it was zoomed to 123%, made a screenshot, placed the screenshot into the file, and made new screenshots without grid, and with 1px grid. It does not show any issues you are observing. Full screen view after opening document: heavily zoomed in, no grid heavily zoomed in, 1px grid The zoom level is 1090%
  16. In my experiment (on iPad), it did the trick immediately from a cog wheel (no need to convert to curves or any other steps)
  17. Hi and welcome. The function you are looking for is called „separate curves“. Unfortunately i could not find a help entry for that function.
  18. Probably a Windows only issue. Cannot reproduce on Mac or iPad. And I didn't get such issues when still on Windows (until Dec. 2021). Can you share the exact afphoto file, and a screenshot of Performance settings? To be clear: I don't say the problem does not exist. I only say Ii'm unable to reproduce the issue on 6 different devices (2 Windows PCs, 1 MacOS, 3 iPad). I had occasional issues on Windows where the rendering froze in "rough" state, and never concluded to "fine" state. But I always get nice rendering of test fonts when I try today. Letter A, Arial, 162,1pt, 108x116 px seems your 100% size. left my 137,9%, right yours.
  19. I cannot confirm that observation. What happens if you merge visible, does it differ in rendering (at the same odd zoom level)?
  20. Workaround: move text with layer fx into a new group apply perspective filter to group
