An update to the beta has just been made live (Build: 1954). The main changes included in this update are listed in this post.

Apps: All
Platforms: macOS and Windows
When in the move tool, as well as other object creation tools such as shapes, picture frames and artboard tool, pressing Return or Enter will now show a new dialog, allowing you to specify a precise distance you want to move your current selection. e.g. below I am moving the apple 100px to the left and 200px down. As you can see that also shows what it means in terms of what angle and distance that relates to. You can alternatively choose to manually specify distance and angle. 

The original position of the object is indicated with a light grey box.

In addition you can chose to duplicate the object to the new position, and also specify how many copies of it you want to make. In the below example I've moved the item 200px at a 45 degree angle and checked the duplicate box, and 5 copies. This results in a total of 6 apples.

 
As you are adjusting any of the values you will get a live preview of your result. You can choose to cancel the operation with the Cancel button (or Esc) or commit with the OK Button (or Return / Enter) or simply by clicking off the dialog.
The dialog will optionally remember it's previous values the next time you bring it up when you have "Previous Settings" checked, meaning you can move multiple objects one by one by the same amount (for example in a case where items are on different spreads / artboards or in other cases where achieving a multiple selection of them to begin with is difficult). A Reset button is also available to quickly zero all the values in the dialogs to start from scratch.

As well as manually typing the values in, you can also change them by click-drag on any of the labels, or using mouse roller when hovering over any of the input boxes.

Rotation

As has been requested during the beta of this feature we have now added the additional option of Rotation. This again makes it easy to rotate an object by a specific amount. It also opens up some useful options when used in combination with duplicate.

e.g. in the example below I have created a ring of 25 evenly spaced squares, by moving the transform origin of the square and choosing a rotation of 14.4 degrees with 24 copies. TIP: you don't need to get your calculator out as all of these fields accept equations. So in this case you could just type "360/25" in the Rotation field to work out 14.4 degrees is the required value.

You can also try playing with a rotation and distance step on duplicates for various effects. e.g. below a couple examples with a line and a star where copies are being stepped by both a distance and rotation:

I ignore the previews. In other words I check the export for flaws. In the long and short term it is faster for me to do so.

Hm... i can export the file in this size as pdf, that´s no problem and the result of the export is really good.
It´s only the preview, which makes "problems".
Maybe it´s a bug.. i don´t know.

Depending on the DPI for the Affinity Document this may result in an export which is too large for the PDF file format.

I'm not sure how I feel about this change.
Closing a RAW file without confirming seems OK to me when no adjustments have been made to the file. But it's allowed now even if you've started making changes in the Develop Persona. You could be awhile into a Development session, and have invested a lot of time into getting the adjustments the way you want them. Closing the file without some kind of confirmation feels wrong in that case.

With the roll out of Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher for Windows version 2.0.4, Serif are making available Unsandboxed installers (also known here as MSI/EXE installers). These installers will be made for all future V2 release builds going forward and will autoupdate from within the application (checking for updates on each run, like the sandboxed version does)
Serif do not recommend or support mixtures of MSIX and MSI on the same computer. You should only use either all sandboxed or all unsandboxed,  particularly if you have more than one Affinity V2 application installed.
You can now download (and install) Windows unsandboxed MSI/EXE installer files (as well as Windows sandboxed MSIX installer files) from these store pages.

Store apps and MSIX-based apps are very similar, but different in their implementation, I think. MSIX is a follow-on to the technology first used in the Store.

Alternatively, you could uninstall the MSIX-based applications and install the EXE-based ones.

The first one or two beta builds had only MSIX. Then EXE was made available.

We are pleased to make available the next update to the 2.1 beta. This is 2.1.0.1713 on macOS and iPad, and 2.1.0.1714 on Windows. This should now be available for you on auto-update.

Something is going wrong, but what?

One of these varioius posts is from me, see this post from last year.
By the way... the error message now is the same:

A small time after the first post, i found a solution to configure windows, to install new apps in drive "D" and with version 2.0 there were no problems, but with the beta versions.... it seems that they "bypass" the Windows settings and if i try to move them manually, i get an error message.

Let´s wait what serif has to say to this behavior.
 

That sounds like something is not working right.
(On the other hand, there have been various reports with V2 also that it only installs to C, and can't be moved to D. So there is something funky going on in Windows since this works properly for some users and not for others. And now, with you, it has worked successfully with 2.0 but not with 2.1.)

I will agree with you. I had this problem once when I upgraded QuarkXPress and I solved it by buying a more powerful SSD.
SSDs are becoming more and more affordable, but they can be expensive and time-consuming to install, especially because of the high cost of the professional version of Windows, its installation and the cost of reinstalling applications.
When an application cannot be installed on a partition other than the system partition, this can cause several problems, including
Lack of storage space: If the system partition is already full, there may be storage space problems for installing new applications or updating existing ones. This can slow down the system or even prevent the installation of some applications. Risk of system corruption: Installing applications on the system partition may increase the risk of operating system corruption. If an application is poorly designed or contains bugs, it can affect the operation of the operating system, which can cause errors or crashes. We have all seen that Serif is aware of these drawbacks. They will probably take less time to solve it than their competitor.
 

The configuration of my system is, that new apps will be installed on drive "D", but the installation of the beta apps is happend on drive "C" ans it´s not possible to move them to drive "D". If i want to move them, i get an error message.
The installation of the current apps went right on drive "D".

Other apps from the microsoft store will be, as expected, installed on drive "D".
My OS is Win11 Pro 22H2, Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22638.1000.0

Am I using the Latest Beta Build?

Do I need to uninstall earlier 2.3.x betas?
You do not need to uninstall, and there is an autoupdate from 2.2.x beta or above to 2.4.0. You can just install over the top
Will it copy my 2.3 retail settings?
Yes, this functionality can be accessed using "Edit > Settings > Beta Program".
Are the Windows betas also available as unsandboxed MSI/EXE installs?
Windows betas available as sandboxed MSIX installers, and unsandboxed MSI/EXE. Either are downloadable from links in your account, but we do not support both being installed/run simultaneously, so please choose the one that suits you.

Issue is solved in Beta version. Now it works as expected.
