Stock sites generally require the embedded portion for eps files.
Yes, but the OP didn't say the problem is with EPS files from stock sites. Rather, "Every eps file I import into Affinity Designer 2 looks awful."
Though the rest of the descripttion, "The graphics are separated into unusual sections and gradients and shadows are changed (misplaced or redrawn)" does seem like a description of something from a stock site. You're probably right, but it would be nice to have an original to show the problem, not something created by Affinity applications.

That was a Affinity Designer generated eps file. The result of opening the original in AD and exporting it back to eps.
Good point. If true, we would need the original EPS file.

That creates a palette of colors from the image, @jmwellborn, but how do you use it when exporting a Palletized PNG? The Export is the question here, I think.

Thanks for the recording.
I'm seeing the same thing. So far it only seems to affect the Color Overlay function in FX. Leaving the layer after setting a color results in the color being forgotten.
Edit: Seems to be specific to iPad; Windows and macOS versions don't do this.

but you can't use that palette to convert a document to it?
Correct, as far as I can see.
Though you can specify Custom in the Export dialog, there does not seem to be any way of choosing a specific palette in that case.
This is logged as a bug: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/search/&tags=AFD-2432

Such eps files typically have an embedded Adobe Illustrator file in them. If so, only AI will open them faithfully as it will open the embedded Illustrator portion of the file.
I thought the same, but that does not seem to be the case with the EPS file attached in the first post when viewing it with a text editor.

On Windows, in the Brush panel, I can right-click on a brush and have options to Move it to a different category, or to Copy it to a different category:
On macOS, the Copy to Category option is missing:

I have no idea how long it takes to add specific lenses to their database though.
It's probably faster when users provide the calibration shots, so the Lensfun team doesn't have to locate a physical lens and create them

My brain likes to see exact values, and is locked in a constant battle between free creativity and logical engineering.
Then you will probably need to type the values you want, rather than using the arrows.

As the image layer is nested to the group, the mask will impact this layer, too.
I don't see the image being part of the Group in any of the screenshots.

Are there any other sources for lens correction xmls than lensfun?
Probably not, but the Lensfun site also provides:
1. Instructions for requesting them to provide data for a specific lens, as well as
2. Instructions how you can prepare sample shots to allow them to develop the calibration data, and
3. Instructions how you can prepare the calibration data yourself, which you can then use personally and even contribute to them if you wish to help others.

Thus knowing about these A4 frames
There is nothing special about those frames. It is common for frames to come with cutouts/mats such as you have been describing.

Also, it might help if you could provide a .afdesign or .afphoto file that demonstrates the problem for you.

With correctly spelled words, the context menu offers commands for deselect, cut, copy, paste, link, insert filler text, and convert to field
Yes, but why does Weisbach get them with an incorrectly spelled word?

Also, you could open the Help and type Grid into the Search, which should lead to the in-app version of this Online Help page which tells you how to do it: https://affinity.help/photo2ipad/en-US.lproj/pages/DesignAids/grids.html

Is there an automated way to do this?
Not within the Affinity applications, no.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.
Can you show us a more complete screenshot, which includes the complete Context Toolbar?

Sorry; works for me on macOS, too.
More searching finds bug https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/search/&tags=afb-4190 (afb-4190) which indicates this problem occurs unless you have some object selected on the page.
So, as a workaround, click some object on that page, and then try the export with Current Page.
-
You do have the page selected properly as far as I can see, so I have no idea why you're getting that unless there's a problem on macOS.
I'll check that and respond further, unless someone else provides the answer first.

It works for me (on Windows, at least). The Pages panel should look like this, with a blue highlight around the page:

In my opinion they are misnamed as "Soft Hyphens".
Affinity is using the official Unicode terminology, so you would need to take that up with the standards body

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.
You will probably find several FAQ articles helpful:

Unable to import any brushes into Designer 2.3 as well as Beta
in Affinity on Desktop Questions (macOS and Windows)
Posted
Those would be raster brushes, so in Designer you would need to look in the Pixel Persona to see or use them.
