Apparently, from what I've read here, Serif does depend exclusively on Amazon. What I don't understand is why Amazon would not want to ship to certain countries, unless they believe that the shipping charges they'd have to apply would mean that no one would want to buy the product. I have seen some complaints here in the forum about the shipping charges to some countries being nearly the same as the book itself.

Interesting approach, Dave, and not one I'd have thought of. On the other hand, I don't even understand Frequency Separation enough to begin to use it or even follow your description. More research to do, I guess Still, to my eye, the final image has lost too much detail on the wings. Is there a way to do some masking to limit the amount of effects applied to them? Or a way to capture some of that detail and add it back in later?

Why Affinity Photo sucks and rocks!

File->New From Clipboard (shortcut: ctrl alt shift n, by default, but you can customize that from the preferences dialogs) -
How did you obtain Affinity Photo in the first place, and what version do you have? Affinity has (to my understanding) only supplied it for Mac via the Apple Store, with one exception. There was apparently an X-Rite promo offer sometime ago that involved getting the Mac version directly from Affinity. If you acquired your software via that promo, then you're perhaps running an older version of Affinity Photo and trying to upgrade to the latest one. In that case I think you'll need to contact Affinity Support via email, and then wait for them to figure out a way for you to obtain the upgrade. There have been several threads about that problem.

I think we should all remember that these forums are operated by Serif, and they set the rules. If I remember correctly, sometime within the past few days one of the moderators said that everyone is free to post in whatever language they want.

Using channel mixer for masks
walt.farrell replied to shojtsy's topic in Feedback for Affinity Photo V1 on Desktop
Interesting looking technique that should prove useful. Thanks. Perhaps, as it already works, it should have been in Tutorials rather than Feature Requests, so more of us would see it or be able to find it easily? -
That does seem confusing, and possibly like a bug. However, suppose you had a web-type document. What will you do with it when you're done? If you're exporting it as a PDF, have you tried using File->Export and then specifying the "PDF for web" preset? I get a multi-page PDF when I do that, with each artboard on its own page of the PDF document.

It's not a Windows issue, as I use Windows and I see Default, Lighter, Darker, and Lower Contrast thumbnails there. [Edit: however, I can't try it with the images from the workbook as I'm away from my main computer.]

The point is, I think, that the Uplift people created and own the Epic Skies pack. They chose to let Serif distribute the Affinity Photo version of their product to selected Affinity Photo customers for a limited period of time. As that time has past, Serif can no longer distribute it. If you did not get it then, and want it, you would need to get it from Uplift now. Whether they are making it available, and under what terms, is entirely their business and only they would know further details of its availability.

Ability to shut up develop mode exit warnings

Or, perhaps, if it wouldn't bother asking you about ones you haven't adjusted at all, since there's no work lost if it simply closes them. -
The selection really is removed when you use Select->Deselect. It's just that for new adjustment or live filter layers the automatic mask has already been created in the layer, and removing the selection does not affect the new layer's mask. In other words, the selection, and the layer mask created from it, are two independent entities. You would probably find that modifying the selection after creating the adjustment or live filter layer also does not alter the layer's mask, but I haven't tried that.

A few possibilities for lack of response so far: Much of the Affinity team is on holiday until after Jan. 1. The Affinity team is located somewhere in the UK or Europe. You posted (I think) at about 2PM EST (US time) yesterday, which would have been after business hours for UK/Europe. You may have posted in the wrong forum. You posted in Feature Requests, rather than in Questions. I would suggest not reposting, though. A moderator will perhaps move your post if it's better in a different place.

Apparently the layer mask is created immediately from the selection, and then it does't matter what you do to the selection after that.
