  1. Probably would need to see more details then, perhaps including a sample .afpub document. But at a minimum, the Character and Paragraph panels for both cells when the text cursor is in them.
  2. It's not related to the beta, and probably should be discussed in the regular section of the forums. There's a long-time bug that causes macros recorded in 1.7 and later to always resample when you resize the document. So, to perform a resize of the document, without resampling, in a macro you need to record it using 1.6. You can find macros in the Resources part of the forums that will do that. E.g., Additionally, if you do resample then you'll hit another aspect of macro processing, where the results are recorded, not the inputs to the operation. That will result in distortion of the aspect ratio if you run the macro against images with different aspect ratios.
  3. Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. One of them appears to be center-aligned vertically, and the other top-aligned. That's where I would start looking. Or, if you enable Text > Show Special Characters you might find that the one that looks top-aligned might have 3 text lines rather than 2.
  4. For PDF, presumably the same as every other application that supports Variable fonts and PDF: the application must generate a Static subset of the Variable Font and embed that in the PDF. Or it must Convert to Curves. I have no idea about SVG, except perhaps using Converting to Curves.
  5. Have you tried the suggestions in the Affinity FAQ for these issues? There are others in the FAQ, too.
  6. It sounds like you may have opened a Designer file containing Artboards, or a Publisher file containing Pages, in Photo. That would give you the Vector Crop Tool rather than the usual raster (canvas) Crop Tool.
  7. As I understand it, "Missing Characters" means that the characters are not present in the font you've chosen. If you see anything, it should be a substitution from some different font. That may, or may not, matter to you. It's more likely to matter if nothing shows up, but it could matter even if something shows up from a different font
  8. As far as the Resource Manager, no. But you started it taking about how it shows up in the Layers panel, and it is different there. And also different in other places and ways. In any case, as you know, if you want to make suggestions that's done in a different part of the forums.
  9. The differences are in: how it is shown in the Layers panel and how it behaves (e.g. the options available in the Context Toolbar, among others). Linked Images are not the same in function as Linked Documents, though they are similar. Embedded Images are not the same as Embedded Documents, though they are similar.
  10. You should be posting in the standard Desktop Questions forum, as this isn't specific to the beta.
  11. Please show some specific characters you need. And, again, what font are you using?
  12. What font are you using, and what is missing? The OCR-A Extended font that I have on Windows (and which I think Windows provided) has a bunch more than you showed in your first post.
  13. You can run both applications (Photo, Designer) at the same time, and if you're in, say, Photo and you need a function that's only available in Designer, you can use File > Edit in Designer to send the file to the Designer application from Photo. Or, you could work in Publisher, which gives you the main Personas of both Photo and Designer, and only use File > Edit in if you need one of the other application Personas that Publisher doesn't provide.
  14. Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @DJR. What you expect is the way that Publisher works, as part of its StudioLink feature. This gives you access, in Publisher, to the Photo Persona of the Photo application, and the Designer Persona of the Designer application. It does not give access to the other Personas of either application. Photo and Designer do not have the StudioLink feature, and they provide access only to their own set of Personas. What you are seeing is normal and correct.
  15. When it starts you'll know because they'll post the details.
  16. This is an iPad topic in the iPad section of the forum. It would be helpful if you would start a new topic in the Desktop Questions part of the forum, and provide additional details. At a minimum please provide a screenshot of the complete application window when this is happening. Also, perhaps, a screen-recording taken by macOS.
  17. Does it happen in a new document? Can you give us a screenshot of the complete application window, with the cursor in the word before a footnote, and the Notes panel visible? Do you have a sample .afpub that also demonstrates the issue, that you could share?
  18. But a Placed raster file is not a "linked document". It is an Image layer. The </> is only for linked/embedded document layers. You're right that except in the Resource Manager, you can't tell whether an Image layer is Linked or Embedded. I suspect that's by design.
  19. If you move the mouse or stylus even slightly when clicking on the brush, it can be interpreted as the start of a drag action. When that happens, the brush highlighting changes, but nothing actually happens. It looks like you're moving quite quickly in your recording, so perhaps that's what's happening to you. 20. After that, be very careful when updating that you continue to choose the EXE version. It's easy to get the wrong update file.
  21. Place does not Embed, if the policy says to Link, so I'm not sure what you mean by that. But it seems clear to me that what thomaso wants is an option for Open to create the file with a Linked Image layer when a raster file is opened, rather than a Pixel layer.
  22. They are supplied by macOS, probably. As I mentioned before, your folder structure in your Spelling folder does not match what the FAQ tells you. Please try correcting that. I suspect that none of the languages you have added are being recognized by the Affinity applications.
