  1. Just had a PM from cartoonmike. He really likes the whole PIF subject. Thought you'd need the ego boost.

    All the best

  2. If I'd known that (despite being a 1.x) product it's not anywhere near ready for prime time use, I would have approached it differently and used it differently in terms of my own time commitments to understanding its paradigms and approaches, and that's probably true of everyone.

OK fair comment; but that's why the Betas are SO important. The users, myself included are shaping versions 2,3,4 etc. This is a very dynamic forum, with a sense of community. (I've been on it every day, since I joined).

This will be a game changer in the long run, not tomorrow, as it is incomplete (but extremely functional) at the moment and the dev team DO listen. How powerful is that? Very!

Just like ballroom dancing, this forum and the dev team are equal partners who rely on each other's feedback and right now that's all that matters.

As for price...expensive is the wrong word!

  3. Hello..I'm Pete from Dallas and I just downloaded the Beta version to have a look...I wish there was a "right from the very beginning" tutorial so I could see exactly what to do to get started..I'm sure somebody will shed some light on this topic as I am not even certain as to how to import a photo into the program...Thx in advance for the help!!

Hi domesticfr8. Welcome to the forums.

File>Place, choose your picture then press Open. This will import your image for you.

Or if you like, right click on any image and from the context menu, Open With>Affinity Photo Beta.app.

As for tutorials MEB recommends this link. Here

    The tutorials will arrive soon.

  4. yeah, not only do they taketh away, and foisteth upon, but they keep re-arranging the furniture, which is very bad UX...Changing key commands or methods, or where this or that feature is kept, or what it's named or how it works. One develops valuable, time-saving muscle memory of how to do things so that you eventually develop an "act without thinking" workflow, which ought to be the goal of any software developer.

Do you sit there and think about how to operate a pencil?

    No!

You grab a pencil, some paper, and start drawing or writing some amazing creation.

Command + z. My most used key combo.

  5. I've been snooping around this Adobe https://forums.adobe.com/search.jspa?q=affinity+image

Looks like a lot of people there are missing a filter, one that goes by the name Oil paint. Maybe if you added it ...

Re: in photoshop CC 2014 where did the oil paint filter go? it is the filter i need for almost every photo

Incredible --- It was a very nice effect. They keep removing the great stuff and adding stuff no one needs.... Cant wait for Affinity Image.... I have been using PS since V1. The past 5 years, this wonderful software keeps getting slower and fuller of no-use features. First one had...

What he calls Affinity Image, is I reckon Affinity Photo... Adobe giveth and Adobe taketh away.
